I find it funny how the media have seemingly turned fans against Pogba, people look at him as if he was solely responsible for Utd's bad form last season when he was the only who continually pulling trees. People look at him as if he's a menace in the changing room and he's outspoken or a problem at your club which I find complete and utter nonsense.

Truth is that he's been made a scapegoat and is an easy target and some of the other players get away with murder compared to Pogba.

Think he should leave Utd anyhow, clearly his time has come to an end and I don't think Solskjaer would do much for his career anyway.
You do hear some imbecilic comments about how people would prefer 11 McTom's than Pogbas, but in reality, a disinterested Pogba is better than the rest of our mids.

However, it definitely feels time to sell, if we can get a ridiculous fee, AFTER we've agreed some signings in.

Otherwise it'll be a certainty we'll have this circus next year with the fee much reduced.

So...

We want to keep him predicated on the notion that we want to build a team around him, but he's also stated publicly he wants to leave

AND

We'll get more for him this summer if we decide to sell, but are doubtful that any team out there can afford what we want.

Classic modern United scenario this.
It's very dangerous.
We already need 2 centre mids as it is.

However, Pogba always comes with the knowledge you have to have certain other mids to maximise him.
Getting back to a unit might suit us better as a team, even if none of the 3 are actually his level.

When United try to buy a transfer target
Media: United need to pay more if they need to bring in XYZ

When other clubs want to buy a united player
Media: United player wants to leave but the buying club wont pay what united is asking for.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Would be a good idea to explain or at least an attempt to rebuttal my post because it makes me think you're just an angry person without the articulation skills to respond or you're just trolling, which is it?

A team should not be built around one or two players. its a team game we need 11 player to equally be part of the team ( some more than the others obviously)

We are in a mega shit position with this. It’s very difficult to get a win here.

My view is to sell. We might not get what we should and we lose a player who can be quality but the circus and instability is causing a big issue at this stage. If he stays I can’t see how we wouldn’t have the same BS come next summer.

Negotiation 101 - do not reveal your actual position

Imagine United said, "we want to get rid of Paul Pogba because he is unsettling our balance and he has no future at the club", how much do you think we could actually get then? 50 million? Saying we are not going to let him go means if you want him you need to make a substantial offer. As for Paul Pogba himself, maybe they (United) need an actual transfer request in order to contractually get out of any payments that might arise or whatever. Stating you want to leave publically is not the same as handing in a transfer request (which is essentially a resignation letter). Imagine handing in a resignation letter and then asking for your yearly bonuses, do you think you'd get them? Maybe the cost of ending the contract for Paul Pogba means that he would have to compensate United, who knows?

Honestly think we should ship him out asap to any club other than Real Madrid for a large fee but, more importantly, with the mother of all sell-on clauses attached.

The sooner we accept that we're too far behind City & LPool (through our own mistakes) to catch them next season the better. It's now about planning for ~3 years down the line, how we can get back to challenging, which players are/will be good enough and how are we going to evolve tactically. Planning that around players like Pogba (who wants out), Lukaku (same), Sanchez (shit) and sadly DDG (running down his deal) etc is pointless and we might as well shift their huge salaries as soon as we can.

Yeah I think both will benefit from a divorce but the problem for you guys is that for the majority of last season he was the only one producing:

So when you remove this kind of influence in the team you're going to initially struggle to replace that kind of output.

I feel the opposite, if he goes I hope he goes to Madrid where their fans will eat him alive. Not to mention the amusement of Fergie not wanting "to sell that mob a virus" a decade before we sold them Mourinho's "virus".

The most worrying stat is most possession won, considering he is the weakest defensively out of all our players, and the defending is the weakest part of his game. In fact I struggle to take that stat seriously. Can't be right surely

I hope to feck he goes because I can see all sorts of unrest being created by him if he doesn`t get his move . It doesn`t matter how good he can potentially be , if he doesn`t want to be here he will be a problem .

that goals total is misleading because of all those penalties. He had how many from open play? 3 or 4?
Should we remove penalties from every players goals stats? I always struggle with this logic.

no, but I still think it's key information. "He scored 13" is different than "he scored 4 from open play and 9 from the spot". Not that the latter is bad or anything, but scoring 10+ from open play would have been a great achievement for a midfielder.

In the context of the tweet, I would say its nit picking

Everything about him is a circus. His first move away was a circus, his transfer back to us was a summer of farce, his 3 years here have absolutely been a failure and he's siebr the last 12 months courting as much attention as possible. A truly infuriating modern day player that will be forgotten not long after retirement. Couldn't hold a candle to the truly legendary midfielders
Seems more like everything United related is a circus, as we are a huge brand undergoing bad times. Pogba is caught in the middle of it, as are quite a few other players.

If you think the circus will leave us once Pogba is gone, then you're in for a bad time.

Yeah we want the Muppet contingent on here giving the impression that the fanbase wants to sell it's best player (and most won't even acknowledge that). No, let's not....
Muppet contingent? And which camp are you in? Marvel captain Pogba club? He keeps undermining the club, he is poison.

I'd rather use 11 Ander Herreras but Pogba is no CR7, his input can be replicated. It's all about Ed being willing to pay to get that person.

There is no world class player by definition, in that Liverpool central midfield position but their output is not in question.

In the context of the tweet, i.e. it's difficult to replace his output, it's actually very salient.

In terms of goals scored, you don't actually have to replace 13 goals from midfield, you only have to replace a handful. Someone else could have taken the penalties.

Not to say he wasn't our best player last year, he clearly was, but it was a pretty low bar.

I meant purely because Real is clearly the end goal, so if can insert a sell on clause there's a high probability of that coming through. E.g sell to Juve for £120m and get a 20% sell on clause (i know that's unrealistic but hey) then Real buy him 2-3 years later for £150m and we that up as well. If a player is not keen to stay treat them like an asset, maximise their value and let's learn from our mistakes and avoid the long and boring sagas of Real pursuing our player that wants to go there.

And what about everything else on top of the goals? Which was the context of the tweet

Look, I said he was our best player. We spent £90m on him, he better damn well be.

I just don't think he has performed like he should have. Far too inconsistent.

In the long term, I don't think it's good for the reputation of the club to have a player who disrespects us openly, while not even doing the business on the pitch.

I don't necessarily disagree, but my point was you was nitpicking when it comes to the overall point the tweet was making. He by far statically contributed more than any player in the squad, and replacing his output (not just goals) but all of it may be difficult.

I would argue maybe it isn't that hard if we had a good recruitment team, but we don't...

"nitpicking" over the goal total doesn't mean we don't acknowledge his other contributions though. It's merely pointing out that most of them were pens which could just be taken by someone else. That doesn't take away from the other stuff though.

I'm not in a camp mate fecking hell....
Nor am I, but I thought it a valid response given the characterisation of those wanting him out as a muppet contingent. He is our best outfield player, I don't think there can be any question of that. But his attitude is rotten and he can't find consistency to save his life. Would it be that bad to see a majority wanting him out? You couldn't thereby conclude that those wanting him out fail to acknowledge how good he is, or can be. If he hadn't flirted with Madrid and then gone on to say he wants to leave, people wouldn't be up in arms.

Apart from how he performs on the pitch which is questionable no matter what the statistics say its his role off the pitch at the club and his example to young players which i would question most.

He is undoubtedly a very good player if not a very good team player.

He may thrive in Madrid where he will be surrounded by better players in what is a less competitive league outside the top 3 -4.

Pogba is a 2019 version of Gasgoigne with different demons. Neither were or are players you could build a team around for any sustained period

Just for perspective....

In the dark, dark days in the early 70s, our Keeper Alex Stepney was our leading goal scorer by Christmas courtesy of two penalties.

Anyone remember which year ? Was it in 72 > 73 when we were awful or 73 > 74 when we were even worse and got relegated.

Also the shots on target, he had over 100 shots and his rate was less than half on target. So you can present stats depending on your motives. Also missed a handful on pens with that stupid run up

I just wish he was doing his talking on the pitch.

Comparing him to CR7 is a joke. He was a phenomenon, PP is a marketing exercise and some inconsistent tricks and flicks.

Time for him to grow up or move out at the clubs expected valuation if he won't change.

If we could depend on the club to reinvest wisely I'd let him go now, but as we can't we should hang fire for now.

Yes, and Stepney was level with Sammy Mac and Brian Kidd.

Nobody is arguing Pogblah is not a talented footballer, but generally his positional play, decision making and concentration have been shite during the past 3 seasons. Although he’s had some excellent periods and admittedly he’s played in mediocre United sides, most of his time here he has also been absolute dross for somebody so talented. Seems to go awol in the big matches, hugs on to the ball too much and prances around like a zebra on steroids. Finally, where there’s smoke there’s fire.. he’s a decisive figure in the dressing room.

Get rid!

Yes....Bad days, huh ??

But I made the point because at that time nobody was saying ' Yeah....Stepneys a shite keeper ( which he wasn't, of course ) but we've got to keep him because he's our penalty taker ' as some on here are offering as valid reasons to keep Pogba dspite everything else we've seen....

We should sell him for as much as possible. He doesn't want to be here.
