I'm surprised to see posters with such optimistic outlook towards the new season. It must be a nice place to be.
This is the worst squad we've had post SAF, and it'll keep getting worse.
Our checklist at the end of last season:
- Get a DoF
- Get a world class CB,
- Get a goal scoring RW
- Replace Matic
- Get an RB
- Get rid of Sanchez, Rojo, Darmian and some deadwood
What our summer is potentially looking like:
- Did NOT get a DoF
- Lost our best and second best central midfielders, did not replace
- Lost our highest and second highest goalscorers, did not replace
- Signed yet another young promising LW
- Did not sign a RW
- Signed yet another mediocre CB
- Extended contracts for Mata, Pereira and Phil Jones
De Gea's reflexes are in decline, we have no semblance of a midfield left, and our first choice front three (Rashford, Martial, Jlingz) have career-high PL goal outputs of 10, 11 and 8 respectively. I struggle to see how we are a better team than Leicester or Wolves at this stage.
