The fee quoted would be twice as much if it was United.

It never really mattered what United did in this situation. Ajax made it clear that they won't stand in the way of MDL's move if they receive a fair price which I think they put at around €75 mil. And after that it all dependED on MDL. And its pretty clear, we are not his first choice, maybe not even 2nd or 3rd.
Now it seems as Juve has an agreement with MDL, they just want to mug off Ajax by making low-ball bids.

Meh. Don't rate him. Ajax will definitely fleece us too considering they'll already have made 150 million by selling De Ligt and De Jong.
He's 28.... Not sure how that's considered old especially since he's not lost a yard of pace. He's still faster than Mata and Lingard who currently occupy the RW.

I would rather get Pepe.... He could function as a RW as well as a ST. The benefit of getting Pepe is that we could get Sancho next season to play as the RW and have Pepe play as a ST in place of Lukaku.

He's not going to Juve. Ed's about to storm in and try and steal it at the last minute by offering 20m less than Juve.
Every summer it feels like West Ham are signing a decent forward only to then,in the following summer,look for yet another forward.
So did Ajax give them permission to discuss terms before agreeing a fee? Genuine question as I haven’t been following this closely.
