Pressing and fitness look encouraging. Unfortunately I think people are being too generous with their praise. The lack of movement, penetration and creativity in the final third is as bad as it has been for the last few seasons.

Great work rate. Decent pressing. Good fitness levels, three games in.

Absolutely dreadful in the final 3rd.

This team with the youth team players coming through the James signing and the AWB signing is a work in progress. I'm prepared to give Ole time if he brings these kids through and gives them game time and looks like making a better team out of them.
I fear that James plays in a position that we need a better and a ready solution. We are so toothless up front we can't let a guy that still needs so much work play there week in week out.

I don't understand this high press with a 2 man midfield. Pogba cannot get into the game enough and no surprise it’s still 0-0.
No surprise, everyones a fecking critic. You know the other team is allowed to try and stop us from scoring right? Look how many players they get in the box when we are breaking. Conte isnt a mug is he? We just have to be more incisive with the ball.

I'm not the world's biggest Pogba fan but this was my main take away from that half. The gulf in quality between him and the rest of our attackers is upsetting.
I keep saying this. We're going to struggle all season long because we have the same poor attack, and people will just blame Pogba for not doing more. It's already dampened my hopes for the upcoming season.

He’s been the best player what are you on about
He loved Mourinho and loves Lukaku so is basically going to be extra critical about most things these days. Over analyzing a pressing game when it's clearly been working in this game

In terms of energy, it is very promising. Of course, loads of things to iron out, such as tactical nous in the final third and more defensive organisation from the midfield down. But it looks refreshing.

Though of course, it will be hard to imagine Pogba and Matic in a midfield 2 this season.

Think we’ve played really well, lots of positives! Completely dominant first half, Goals will come!

Disappointed with our play on the right side nobody is playing James in at all and when he gets here he's limited because he's predominantly left footed. We need a RIGHT footed RW Ole!

Bar that very good display, loving the high pressing and AWB is like a man possessed!

We just need to turn over play faster before they get 8 player behind the ball.

What presence did he provide at the top level last year? Strolled around and looked unfit most of the time
He really was wank last year. But the year before he provided a very good outlet and a good presence. We have absolutely no one in the box. Rashford and Martial always seem to be in the same position and James is not ready yet.

would love to see Bruno Fernandes instead of Lingard in there- lacking quality in attack

not a lot of goal threat against a tight defence

AWB is awesome to watch live; after the first couple of tackles you can feel the crowd gearing up to cheer when he wins one before feeling sorry for the attacker.

Defending (apart from set pieces) real solid. Lindelof and Tuanzebe playing on the front foot mostly. Attack remains disjointed and detached from midfield, same story. Martial looked lively though.

That’s not my point. Without Pogba on the ball we are not that creative regardless of what Conte and Inter do.

I think the one thing that this team needs above all is a top class No.10. We don't have anyone apart from Pogba who can cut through the defense with a top quality pass.

A lot of positives. Our pressing, counter attacks, passing and movement have been very good. AWB, Tuanzebe, Lindelof & Pogba have been the standouts. Especially AWB, what a f****** brilliant signing he has been!

Only negative that I have with our play is that our decision making in the final 3rd has been poor. Very indecisive. We need to be more ruthless and clinical.

It’s pre-season though and these sort of things are there for the management to work on and our fitness. Talking about fitness, ours looks completely night and day compared to last seasons.

Overall so far, more positives than negatives. I’ve enjoyed it.

I fear he is only in his third half for United (against a Conte coached team) and people are already having fears about him.

Rashford and Martial both bad at getting into shooting positions.

They shall watch Greenwood's goal last game 1000 times to learn something

Inter are playing with deep defensive line, so it's very difficult to play pass behind the defensive line.
We have had a few transitions though where we've been 3vs3 and not made the most of it. Only through ball came from Pogba, which Hamdanovic dealt with well. I'm not impressed by Matic's use of the ball. AWB and Shaw get lots of space when the ball is on the opposite flank, however he shows no inclination to switch it. Just makes it easy for Inter to set in as we play in front of them.

Its not even half time for feck sake. Also Lingard has been running and pressing hard.
Man, I'm just saying what I see. Lingard, in this half, where has he been? He really isnt doing much for the team. Rashford has been in center stage today but he keeps doing what doomed us last season with his shooting and fk's. I'm sorry, but this is what I'm seeing, some positives, some not.

Ole needs to:
-Replace Lingard with Gomes, permanently.
-Give Greenwood 45 minutes here, instead of James.
-Give Rashford one of those credit cards, show him both sides, and tell him he can take a shot for each side of the credit card. If he takes more than 2 speculative shots, his credit runs out.

How is it over analysing to think we need Pogba on the ball more :houllier:.

He has been pressing and winning the ball back are you blind?

Skriniar looks very good, quick, strong, loves a tackle, good in the air, like the look of him, would do well in the Premier League

Tbh a half blind guy that watches football for the first time sees that he needs a lot of time still. His touch looks very shaky and he seems to struggle with the basics. Very young still though and he has blistering pace.

I'm by far not his biggest fan but he was decent I felt. Our other 3 up front are worrying me much more. Although Martial has been decent but he is nowhere to be seen in the box. Dan has a very very long way to go and Rashers again has one of those days he seems to have every second game he plays for us.
Yep Rashford's consistency continues to frustrate.
