There is no such realistic amount. Because any amount that is realistic for the club, would not be realistic for Bale and his agent when the player has another 3 years on 600k pw. And vice versa.
Fair enough. But would you take him at 250K a week salary with no transfer fee on a three year deal? That comes to be 39m overall deal. I would take that for sure. Even a 10m transfer fee on top of that would be fine for me. You don't even get a prospect from Newcastle at that amount. If Bale can give us 25 games a season while we managed his injuries, he can be a vital player.

How is it clear? He’s said fairly recently he wants to stay and by all accounts his family are settled. I suspect he doesn’t want to go to China but that might be all that’s on the table.

Zidane’s comments are a final attempt to get him away and off the wage bill it seems.
We all know he wants to stay and Madrid do not want him Zidanes comments were at a point where the deal was already progressed it seems.
We also know him and Zidane have issues, they do not like each other
However we also know Bale has had offers from Bayern, Spurs at least and has turned them down for big money in China
So its clear that its not a one sided issue, especially when we know both Bale and his agent have been vocal about Zidane as much as Zidane as been vocal about Bale
Before Zidane was even hired as manager Bales agent was already speaking about how it will cause a problem with Bale, its clear it is not one sided

Why? He's achieved more with real than Zidane ever did (as a player) and also has better stats to boot
John O Shea achieved more with United than Ronaldo or Cantona but that doesn`t mean he was better or more fondly remembered .
For me , Zidane the player was far superior to Bale .

I don't believe that is true. Bayern have stated they don't have an interest and are looking at younger targets for the wide positions on their team. Spurs might be involved, Poch certainly left the door open on that in his comments this weekend, but I doubt any formal offer has been made. The news of big money from China seems to be coming from Real and not from Gareth's camp and I think it is highly unlikely he would go so to claim he turned other offers down for big money from China is jumping the gun at this point.

No. Because the player doesn't want to be here. He's turned us down numerous times when he was offered the option, even when he was bench warming in Madrid and Jose was making open pleas for him. If he doesn't want to be here, why the feck bring him in the first place regardless of salary? Learned nothing from the Di Maria saga?

If he actually wanted to come here, would I take him at £250k? Perhaps. But then he wouldn't accept that paycut. So it's a pointless discussion based on if and buts that have no basis on reality.

Why would we even consider Bale, doe not fit the style of play.

We already tried with Sanchez, look how that has turned out, Bale is probably worse. He doesn't care about playing anymore, he is happy collecting a fat pay cheque and playing golf. Surely not the attitude we want?

If he does come here, it would be because he wants to come here. It is a free world and no one can force him to come. I normally wouldn't want a player who has rejected us before either. But in case of Bale, he did go on to win multiple CLs and that really justifies his decision to stay at Madrid. He would also fill the gaping hole on our RW even if it's short term till we can hopefully figure out a long term solution.

Finally, every single transfer thread is based on multiple assumptions especially one that says "Let's sign xxx player" who we're not even looking to sign. He has three year contract at Real. From Madrid's point of view, if they keep him on their books he would approximately cost them 72m without contributing at all. With a 10m transfer fee(maybe throw in some conditional add-ons) and another club subsidizing 250m a week, it brings in 39+10m which puts their write-off to a much more manageable 20m or so. Tax rates are lower in the UK than Spain so Bale can even take a slight pay-cut and still make the same net income.

Oshea never had the stats to back it up and didn't score important goals when it mattered. Bale has better stats than zz and scored important goals.

Look, I never said Bale is the superior player, I responded to someone that said zidane had every right to call him out. I think he should be treated with a bit more respect. That was my point

I still don’t get this idea he doesn’t care about playing. The only force driving that narrative is Madrid or the idea of him staying means he doesn’t want to play. He seems to love the team and doesn’t mind being a supporting role especially as they are reinventing themselves. Who is their RW at the moment? Will this person not need rest or even someone to learn from? I can also see him covering the CF position.

The club wise?

This is the same club that signed Sanchez, Schweinsteiger, Falcao ect and also gave new contracts to players that need moving on, not keeping for another 4 years

Also the same club that refused to sign Maguire last season on Jose request.

We are well wise
Whatever dude, that reads a little bit simplistic but.. There are plenty of posters who want United to sign Bale, while it looks like the club won't touch him. It's surely a good thing if they learn from previous mistake.

I just see so many going on about stats and achievements and don`t really think thats what makes a player likeable and legendary , Eric is the prime example for United and Zidane is probably similar at Madrid .
I don`t even see it as disrespectful as he has just told him he is not in his plans so its up to Bale to either look for a move or stay and pick up his wages or fight for his place . Maybe Zidane has seen a change in attitude/decline in his play and fitness and wants to free up some wages . He could be clearing the deadwood and only time will tell as to whether he is right or wrong .

and there are plenty who dont want to sign him too

some people are always going to focus on Bale's ability rather than the other factors

I rate Bale much higher than Sanchez and I bet my life that Bale would outstprint Sanchez by some distance. Bale might a short term solution to our RW, depending on the conditions eg small transfer fee, 2 year contract and prepared to take a pay cut. Not least if Lukaku leaves, not a bad short term solution at all. Would free up money to invest in Maguire and Longstaff.

Bale would outsprint Sanchez? sanchez is known for that, chasing after lose balls etc, Bale isnt.
We don't need a short term solution though, we are looking to build for the future, so it would be a pointless signing IMO.
If he was hungry then you would consider it, but from the outside it seems he has lost his motivation, and I doubt Ole can get him playing.

Wow. Gotta love communism. And no i meant they pay 15 million to their government on a 30 million transfer as in 45 total. That’s crazy. How are those clubs even ran? How does that government even operate? Am I about to get a history lesson on the cafe?
It's a relatively recent law, and it only applies to foreign players, apparently the money goes to their Federation to directly fund their youth development programs. On paper it's not that bad, considering how many Chinese billionaires are out there, but I dunno how successful it is in practice.

Well, that’s clearly bollocks. That’s like saying it’s a free world no one is forcing you to work if you don’t like it. It ain’t that simple is it? You do things you don’t want in life because it’s beneficial for you to do them. It’s not exactly a new concept, you learn it when you’re 2yo and your mother feeds you vegetables.

The player and his agent have reiterated multiple times, as recently as last week, that the player wants to stay in Madrid. If/When he moves it won’t be to a team where he wants to go to, but somewhere where it will make financial sense for him to move to. And I don’t want players that are here just for the money. I want them to look forward to representing United and wanting to win things with this club. And none of these apply to Bale.

Trying to force a market into working the way the almighty government wants it to work. I wonder how the federation adequately spends those millions upon millions of dollars. Older experienced players aren’t the worst thing for the younger players to learn from.

A mercenary can still be successful. The days of loyalty in the game don’t make much sense, especially considering the lack of loyalty most clubs have to their players. Although I may see we have been extremely loyal to some (giving contract extensions to servants). Either that or the club figured extensions were cheaper than signing new players with transfer fees.

Anyway, if United gave him an option to play I don’t see the evidence as to him trying his best and being loyal to the club in terms of effort. I think he would like Ole and it’s not as if every day once he makes the decision he’ll remind himself “You’re here for the money. Remember.” Instead I think he’ll adjust, considering that’s what professionals and good footballers are good at. Adjusting. I think that’s what was mostly holding Alexis back, he wish he joined city and hasn’t adjusted to losing his pace.

such a bizarre story the quiet shy Gareth Bale would end up boiling so much piss in Madrid. Has no passion for the game, wants to stay there and play golf but still has no interest in the language or his team mates there. Really hope he drags it out longer

Of course he left for money, but glory as well. 4 Cl's that he played a big part in winning. He's part of Real history now.
He joined a club knowing fully well that its all about money and glory. He wouldn't have achieved such glory if they kept washed up players on their payroll rather then invest on the best player on the market wouldn't they? So why should they let new players who are searching what Bale once wanted down just to appease him?

If he wanted a club to take care of him once he's useless then he should have joined us instead. We would have cuddled him throughout this difficult period, remembering when he scored that goal against Newcastle 3 years ago which made us win the mega prestigious FA cup. 1-2 good games per season would probably be enough for us to handle him yet another 5 year contract. He preferred to go Real instead.

He isn't doing anything wrong. I don't see the issue with not knowing the language either, it is not a big deal. The club should be berated for giving him a silly contract.

Is James Rodriguez in Zidane’s plans for the upcoming season? Why’s he not being pressured to leave similar to Bale? Are there no takers?

I think it’s hugely important to be able to communicate with the team and trainers. Will not have endeared him to his team mates. Ramsey has recently got great reviews for holding his first press conference in Italian. He’s clearly made an effort. Bale’s lack of effort to learn the lingo displays a bad attitude imo.

Not that interesting, mate. The stupid cliché "it is what it is" quite applies to this kind of leagues who have some financial power but their only plan is trying to attract some foreign players who have some reputation. The players are not interested in going there unless money talks, no matter how professional they are. No player in the world dreams about playing in the powerful Chinese Super League :D
No, as @Ishdalar pointed out, the reason for the tax is to prevent clubs from doing that in the first place

Perhaps, but you miss out on a lot when you live in a foreign country and don't learn the language.

Yes, I understand, I was more wondering whether it was just that he struggles with languages rather than a lack of effort?

Just need a montage of RM losing matches and ZZ looking grim/angry mixed with Bale practicing his putts.

But yes lets not sign Bale, he can stay at RM or go to China and collect his millions.

I don’t really understand why Zidane doesn’t want him. It’s quite baffling. Hazard/Benzema/Bale would be a tasty front three and will get you goals and assists. Is he leaving the third spot for Isco or what? But if i recall correctly, Isco isn’t exactly his favourite player as well

He could be too thick to learn another language, true. Got my doubts though. Should have spent less time on the golf course and more time reading Spanish For Dummies if he wanted to settle there. Zidane not speaking English and Bale not speaking Spanish is a perfect storm.

Bale knows if he stays there will be a lot of pressure from Florentino to give him minutes. Zidane doesn't want to deal with that

That's my reading of the situation

Hasn't he struggled to learn spanish.... No idea how he is going to cope if he goes to China but wouldn't be surprised to see him back in the premier league in the January transfer window

The set up in China is rather different, by all accounts the clubs lay on interpreters and with quite a few foreign players in the dressing rooms a lot of English is spoken. I think also from a cultural perspective there is an expectation in Spain, just as there is in England, that if you are going to live and work there then you should learn to speak the language. I don't think China has that mentality. Will still be amazed if he goes there though as he is a hell of a lot more ambitious and driven than he is currently being painted and when he does leave Real he is going to want to show them they made a mistake letting him go.

Zidane was asked about James today and his response was something like 'he's not here (on tour) and I'm only worried about players that are here).

He's not going to play for real again I reckon
