It's going to be a long season again. This was supposed to be the major rebuild we were promised. Reality is Ed already throw away the season before it even started.

The writing is on the wall. Deja vu from last season.

For our major rebuild we only sign AWB and James so far, seriously?

Even if Mcguire and Fernandes joined we are still not good enough to challenge.

Not good enough to challenge for the title but good enough for a place in the top 4. Still, only believe that City has clearly better players than us, Liverpool and Spurs are better teams, it will be OGS job to make us a better team.

Don’t think Ed is useless at all. More like deliberate avoidance of recruiting players that successive managers have wanted. Look at the track record (apart from players he, himself has decreed we needed: Schwein, Falcao etc ) Look at the Glazers sporting interests in the US. They don’t like investing in players yet hand out lucrative contracts like confetti.

Don't worry, soon Ed's burner accounts (Keefy and Johan) will come on board and advise us all that he is the best we have and it's not Ed's fault that nothing gets done, obviously it's all about value, nothing to do with Ed and Judges negotiation tactics and Glazers instructions.

This summer , quick strikes and paying close to release clauses at initial offerings were needed. What do they aapparently do, place a bid that some say is insultingly low and wonder why that tactic doesn't work.

Poor summer as usual from Teflon Ed, let's hope something is actually happening unknown to the press and the club actually gets into a position to challenge the top 4. Doesn't seem at all likely give history, but like many who used to wait for action, we tend to steer clear as disappointment is ongoing and there are fears that top 6 is best we can expect currently as other teams are doing business to bridge the gap.

We are going nowhere with him in charge. Another summer wasted it seems. Hope i get to eat my words but its Ed we are talking about! No club takes this much time to sort out a position of need.

Wouldn't be in the least bit surprised if Ed took a holiday in Marbella as Utd are known for generally not doing business while on tour

You boast we could spend 100m on CB of proper quality last summer, then you are going to get fleeced without even landing the top bracket talent  Classic Ed.

I seems that way and that is something I feared at the beginning of the window' I agree with the part in bold. We now have just over two weeks andd it's getting me mor concerned the closer we get to the end of the window.

Although I now longer have faith in him, I'm really hoping that Woody does something special in the amount of time that we have left.

Agree with this. To be this incompetent is by design

I think this is a very interesting view. I particularly agree with the part in bold as it seems as if Woody has such a high opinion of his football knowledge; which to me doesn't seem like he knows a lot and hasn't learned a lot since he has been here, that he is refusing to take into account the opinion of people who have vastly greater football knowledge than him like our manager.

Dont worry guys, look at the positions We need.. it's actually pretty easy to predict. They will get replaced by another player when those players are at the age of Ashley Young's & have had birds shat on their mouths.

Dunno if it was ever confirmed that Maguire, specifically, was vetoed (or however one wants to phrase it) by Ed.

Not that it really matters - Ed's handling of Maureen was ridiculous no matter how you twist it. Give him a contract extension for no good reason whatsoever - and proceed to push his meltdown buttons a couple of months later. Baffling, and as I've said many times, this isn't hindsight - loads of people, ordinary fans, predicted how it would play out.
And this time, He promised Ole 5 new players.

Completely unopposed for both players too. Woodward is playing with fire this summer, no more hiding behind managers.
But what will happen if solskjaer fails. I think many fans will happily blame him but even if they didn't it feels like little can be done to remove him

So man utd dropped down Forbes’ list of most valuable sports clubs from 2nd last year to 6th this year. I’m sure this will have a bearing on the owners. If the football is miserable it’s going to have an effect on the club value. They better improve the Football through investment in players.

I would like to be a fly on the wall and follow round ed for the day just to see what he actually does, he hasn't a clue when it comes to transfers and general football, yeah he might be the best at sponsorships and bringing cash in but he is so inept at the general side it's embarrassing

To be honest, Ed is clearly a clever guy and good at what he does.

He's employed by the Glazers though and I presume he does as they tell him. They pay his hefty salary at the end of the day so he only cares if they are happy. They tell him he can only spend 100Million - He signs James and Wan Bissaka (Two good deals). He doesn't have enough money to do anything else, what does he do? He creates a load of smoke screens and "Failed" attempts to buy players in the hope this will appease the fans in to thinking we are a club with any sort of ambition.

It's that Glazers that need to be forced out and they can take Ed with them. They are making the club crumble and Ed is just the face of it that they hide behind.

We have to realise the problem. Is it Woodward, who is basically a glorified accountant / marketing guy and negotiator? Or is it his bosses who actually own the club and decide the direction it should be run.

Our anger is aimed in the wrong direction.

I wouldn’t say that. Woodward is a cancer to Manchester United Football Club.

If it wasn’t for him, I don’t think the Glazers would be our owners. They are bleeding the club dry and Woodward is the enabler.

Saying that, I cannot see a way where we do not sign at least 2 players before the window closes, because the majority of fans are really end at the end of their tether now. Woodward is the reason we are not an efficient football club and proactive in the transfer market. A CEO who has the best (footballing) interests for the club would aim to get the deals done ASAP. Now, it feels like we are going to have another scattergun approach to the end of the window. Watch us sign a player who we haven’t been linked to so far this window.

No signings and a bad start to the season and it is all going to kick off.

The good news is that I firmly believe the Glazers will sell in the next 2/3 years. Until then, lower your expectations.

How can Woodward be the enabler? He works for the Glazers, they pay him a salary and he does what they say.

If a different owner gave Woodward different instructions, I have no doubt he would carry out those instructions also.

The Glazers would still have bought the club with another guy doing the paperwork for them, to think otherwise is naïve in my opinion.

I agree on the part about lowering expectations though, we are finished as a competitive club until we're sold. I just hope the next owners are good and we don't end up in an even worse situation..... Imagine getting rid of the Glazers and ending up with a Mike Ashley or a Venkies.

The thing is that Mou's traits as a manager are well known. He's not known for slowly building something: spend a season assessing, then full on assault on the title. Woodward must've been aware of this - and if he wasn't, it's as damnable as it gets.

So - what do you do as José Mourinho's boss? You either consider him to be within reach of a full on assault on the title, in which case you buy those ageing feckers he desires (if the money's there) - or you fire his arse.

You do not extend his contract and subsequently issue "briefings" which are bound to alienate an already volatile personality.
Yep, I agree he seemed to back him to launch a Prem bid but it never materialised.

I agree the contract is pointless, but Ed has done that with manager and players.

What baffles my mind is that it was reported that we made a 70 million pound bid 2 weeks ago. Reliable and credible sources like BBC ran with it. So how 2 weeks later is this deal not done. i was hoping for an exciting summer with the club getting behind the manager guess i was wrong. Now the talk is SMS being a Pogba replacement, how is that an improvement when all you doing is replacing a player. We need to add players with quality.

Reason being the manager is not available for face to face discussion. If Newcastle give permission for Longstaff to talk to us, if I was him i’d want to hear from the horses mouth how much game time I could expect, how I will be used etc.

If there’s any truth to any of the rumours I reckon we might see a small flurry of activity once they get back.

I hope that you are right on the part in bold as I think that if we don't bring in another midfielder we will be severely lacking as Matic' legs have gone and I think he should only be kept for the big games.

Yeah 2 weeks tomorrow the window to buy closes.
Hate that term, "window to buy", makes me feel like the vultures are beginning to circle, and I'm just about to lose my shotgun!
Thanks for the initial clarification; it means I've got a week's grace before the anxiety ( of the uber variety ) begins to set in.

Is Solskjær it will be Woody's fault for not getting him the sufficient players early enough. These transfers should have been sorted before pre-season to give the players a chance to get used to Ole's methods and gel with the team. If it all goes wrong Woody will make Ole a scapegoat for his failures in my opinion.

£68m spent with one week remaining.

I think we need to applaud those ITK claims that we had a budget of £100m plus any sales, this window.

Because it appears to be spot on. If we sold Lukaku today, I bet any money that Maguire would be announced tomorrow evening. We need the Lukaku money to fund Maguire because we don't have enough money.

My hunch would be the remaining 32m of that initial budget is earmarked for Longstaff if we can get him for less than 30m. If Lukaku stays, we are not getting a CB. Likewise, if Pogba stays, no Fernandes.

I didn't buy these stories but either way, if we end up with only AWB and James then the lack of ambition is straggering.

Does it make any difference when media outlets are headlining Ed Woodward stays back in UK to deal push transfers through?

Yes the wider public might believe it but, surely no Manutd fan believes that?

After the season he flew out of our Australia pre season to conduct transfers and nothing happened.

Ed Woodward is not fit for part of his role related to the footballing side.

He is shocking at best.

There is nothing on the horizon, he is going to spend the next week negotiating the sale of Lukaku to Inter and that will be it. Ole is happy with the squad so Woodward and the Glazer family are happy to leave him with it.

Hopefully, we are going to sell Lukaku, but only one week to negotiate this? Remarkable the improvement in effectiveness in Woody and Judge. If this development continues then we might see a Technical director (aka Woodys fall guy) before next season.

If it happens again this summer and fans do nothing of any consequence we deserve every shit performance that comes our way. Look at arsenal. That's where we're headed.

Last two years on Caf:
1) "It is early June. Relax"
2) "We have time. More than a month left"
3) "Rivals also don't spend money. No need for panic"
4) "3 weeks left. We can sign at least two more players"
5) "Ed, you fecking sack of shit!"
