They even framed his picture travelling, en-route, somewhere behind the wheel of a car: "Is the midfielder Carrington bound, all set for his pending medical?" Oh course he fecking isn't.
Once upon a time if it was in a paper it was true, now you genuinely cannot tell what's real or fake. Pathetic.

I wonder if he sees all these links and just laughs, I bet it turns out we've never even made contact or something silly.

I still believe we will produce a wtf moment in the market. All that time preparing bids must count for something.

Where do we reckon that team is capable of finishing? There's not many holes in the first team, but the back ups are pretty terrible.
That team should be winning the league. Martial as 9 but interchanging with rashford and Dybala with Bruno and Fogba pulling the strings. Lot of pressure on captain Marvel McT.

Arsenal somehow pulling a decent transfer window out of their arse at the last minute.
Not necessarily. A loanee they won’t get to keep, Saliba that is being loaned out, Koncielny causing havoc, Pepe not confirmed by any means.

We simply cannot sit back and allow Arsenal to get Pepe. It would be exactly the same as when we stepped aside to allow City to get Bernardo Silva. Here's a ridiculously talented players who can play from the right. What are we waiting for? 12 days to get a minimum of 3 world class players. Can't see us challenging for the top 6 without them.

Man that team...

If we end up with that team, I think it’ll show Pogba we are ambitious. Considering we went from:

Martial Rashford lingard
Pogba Matic Herrera
Shaw Smalling Lindelof Young
DDG

My concern is, how good is Dybala at pressing? I know he’s fairly agile and flexible across the front line. Also what happens to the Sancho 2020 dream?

We're kind of stupid for not going for this. Better than anyone we have and only £25 million.
And what if Toby doesn't want to come play for the almighty Manchester United?

These mindset of 'we are the best thing since sliced bread' has to stop. We are no longer as fashionable as before. We can't just think every player will fall over to join us. Players have options too you know.

Alternatively, maybe we were never interested in paying a pretty good but not top drawer player an absolute fortune.

To be honest i think we need both. If pogba goes we need savic and bruno.
Yes please. The worst thing that can happen this season is to watch painfully average players like Mata and Lingard occupying those spots. If pre-season is anything to go by then we are in for another shocker of a season...

Although we clearly need to bring in some quality players, to say you can’t see us challenging the top 6 as we are currently is a load of bollocks.

Let’s not bullshit. This team is currently a challenger for a CL place. Not good enough to challenge for the league or guarantee a top 4 finish but certainly there or there abouts with Chelsea and Arsenal for that last CL place.

For the record I can’t get my head around why we would settle for this and not bring in the quality players like you referenced but let’s be honest, we can’t say we won’t challenge for top 6 with this team we have now!

Pepe, Auba and Laca is a very scary attack. Shambolic at the back though, if they sign a CB and LB they might finish above us.

Very possible with the way we are run these days. The club's ambitions footballing wise have plummeted so much.
He's not worth the money and length of contract we would have to give him. It seems that the rest of the football world agrees, which is why he is staying at Spurs.

As expected transfer rumours linking players to United is rising to some sort of crescendo. United Twitter is officially unbearable now.

How is it bullshit? Because you disagree? Currently, Leicester are favourites for the 6th place in my opinion. Everton and Wolves will surprise a few too. If we sign Maguire, we'd be able to probably get 4th if we were also insanely lucky with injuries.

Roma were the only club seriously interested, and they even werent prepared to pay the 25m, probably because of his other high financial demands (salary, signing on fee etc)

Possibly. I just don't understand though - they've been struggling all window with the likes of Tierney and Zaha and now they want to pay €80m for Pepe.

Something not right there in my opinion.
He's going to Napoli the other sides names are being used by his agent. That's how I interpret the speculation.

Yeah it's surprising alright. Maybe Kroenke's decided to loosen up the purse strings a bit.

Arsenal have a horrific defense and haven't really even been linked with any central defenders. So weird. Their attack has been the one area they've been good and yet they're only being linked with flashy attackers.

How are they suddenly going to afford an €80-90m player when all of the well respected Arsenal journalists said they were almost skint this summer?

Perez and Tielemens as a full time player. They have a better defence and midfield than United. Our attack is slightly better and our goalkeeper is clearly better. Also it's Leicester. The fact it's even close between the two teams is insane.

I don't understand your point. Is full time Tielemens better than part time Tielemens?
They had all of that last year (in your view) and finished well below us despite us taking 3/4 of the season off.
Seems a bit of a hysterical point to make IMO.

Doesn't really matter how potent their attack is when they won't be able to defend. Don't think they'll be causing any worry to City or Liverpool.

Seems to be a lot of installments involved.
I agree its a strange signing, they need steel in midfield and a few defenders yet blow their budget on an attacking loan player and a winger.

Would rather wait for Sancho then get Pepe. In fact, I'm more upset about our DM situation. Good signing for Arsenal though.
