So we are in desperation mode again on this one. Either we will be taken to the cleaners now or we wont buy a CB. Reminds me of the Fellaini deal a little bit. Leicester in a good position. Dont need to sell, dont want to sell. Upto Utd to convince them otherwise. I dont think this will drag on much longer as Leicester will clearly need to get a replacement in before they agree to sell Harry

What's funny in that? Wouldn't that be an underwhelming transfer window?
I don't know, tbh - it's an argument.

Our other way wasn't doing much other than over stacking the squad with players of similar (ok, but have weaknesses) standard or driving us mad under-performing bellends.

Maybe I am harsh on some of the support - but everything has to fall into line to get close to City now. Not impossible (sodding Liverpool, of course) but it is difficult.

No, because we signed one of the best RB in the league, will sign one of the best Juventus player (who had 1 poor season for various reasons) and Daniel James is not a runner from championship.

It's like we have improved RB, upgrade on Lingard/Mata, going by their qualities it's such a huge improvement. And then rumors that Maguire has been left out of the squad for friendly game because of ManUtd interest.

So upgrade on RB, AM, CB is not underwhelming window. Obviously it would have even better had we signed RW, DM but it's anything but underwhelming.

No one is expecting us to win the EPL. However some real effort and investment need to be shown to ratify the situation and halt this decline. A top RB, a reserve winger with some potential to become better and a forward whose very talented but whose deemed as a surplus at Juve is far too little effort

AWB is a top RB but he's got just 1 great season in his belt. I think he'll be a success but let's put things into perspective. James has potential but at this point in time anything apart from being deemed a reserve with us would be pure delusion meanwhile Dybala is not one of the best players at Juve. If that was the case he wouldn't be involved into a swap. That's far too little

Ps we are assuming we are only buying those players

One season or not, it's obvious to see AWB's qualities. He is one of the best RB.

Dybala except last season he was one of the best Juventus players (twice top scorer for them in 3 seasons). Last season he wasn't and he doesn't fit the style so he is involved in the swap.

If we end up with only 3 signings then it's underwhelming but not sure why we have to assume that at this point of time.

Fully expecting Woodward to panic and give Leicester the money they want for HM like we massively overpaid for Fellaini
He probably thought Leicester would reduce the price tag by now but they ain't budging and there's too little time to look at alternative targets

I think you are both arguing it well.

Did someone say a couple of pages back we might struggle for goals, or was wondering who might do the scoring.

If that turns out right, then I think we would be saying this has been underwhelming. Hopefully a stronger backline frees things up going the other way.

Also atm - and I do think this is quite worrying - we need Pogba & Sanchez to be doing more than they have. Unless you expect breakthrough/monster seasons from Martial and/or Rashford.

I was answering to that scenario (ie we only buy 3 players)

You're putting me in a shit situation because I wanted/want those signings but let's put things into perspective. We are in decline and those 3 players alone won't stop the rot

Don’t want us to go into next season with this set of centrebacks, but at this point I’m starting to think I’d like to see us telling Leicester to fkc off.

No they are not. Real Madrid and juventus don't have the money left to buy him. They have already spent enough.
Juve was a media smoke screen to get Real to up their fee.

I think Mardid will come in for Pogba this summer.

Why is woody so incompetent? Do we not have alternate targets if we can't get the main one? Either pay the damn fee or look for another player.

I thought they need to get rid of a few players to meet his asking price - Bale & Rodriguez. Both players are on huge wages too which won’t be easy to ship out.

Bale looks like he is going nowhere and I won’t be surprised if he outlasts Zidane at Madrid.

Perez doesn’t want to sell Rodriguez to Atletico Madrid. Not heard any other clubs in for him.

Who knows? Now juventus own Ronaldo and De ligt and are UCL favourites that's a big pull already.

Don't think Pogba is going anywhere by the way now so late in the window, both clubs doesn't have money left after what they have spent.

Sure, And if Magiure is worth more than 70m then Pogba is worth more than 180M. We will not force him. He has a value.

I heard Napoli are in for him on a loan. I think the Bale move to China breaking down is beneficial to us because if that happened, I would have seen Real knocking on our door harder.

I feel Real are playing a dirty game here, wait for our transfer window to close and tell Pogba to start acting up.

Correct, and if our transfer window closes surely that value should increase by £40m? It could cost us Champions league having no CM's

Imagine the scenario, Pogba gets a late move to Real Madrid, to play for his hero, Zidane, but they have a disasterous start to the season, Zidane gets the sack and Real appoint Mourinho.
Meanwhile Bale rides out the storm and stays in Madrid...

Will serve him right, the way he has treated Bale is shocking.

is there another club in World Football who would pay 80m plus for Harry Maguire?
They are selling to a competing club, that increases the valuation a great deal.

That being said if Sky Sports are not making things up again, and Leicester are not going to accept £80m but only £85 then they are being absolutely ridiculous.

they are just taking the piss. Would be great if we had an alternative lined up like we had when Real wanted a fortune for Morata.

If you're only a few million apart in your valuation generally you're able to meet in the middle, hopefully ourselves and Leicester can come to a compromise.

However, in the context of Pepe being sold for £72m, maybe Maguire's £80m price tag isn't so unreasonable
It is. If we pay over £80m for Maguire we will be a laughing stock once again.

You know the answer to that. I hope we don't either. Should have moved on to another target weeks ago.
Personally I think he was the third target on the list behind Koulibaly & De Ligt. Unfortunately they got rejected by one and priced out completely for the other.

I think we need to accept the fact that Utd have never been interested in players that fans want like Milenkovic,Romagnoli etc.

They are looking for someone to just slot straight in and looks like they see that in Maguire.

If they haven't even named their price and keep moving the goal posts at every bid, I don't think Leicester are negotiating in good faith.

I don't think we were ever in for Koulibaly. That seemed entirely driven by shite sources and our fans.
