No sunday won't tell. The season will tell. I know fans will need something to cry over on Sunday but 'young players getting chance this season' doesn't = 1 game, and the very first game of all gamesLet's hope he does trust them then. Sunday will tell, if it is the same old faces on the bench. Not really sure about Chong just yet, but Greenwood, Gomes and Axel should be on the bench. I can see them just being used in the Carabao and EL.
I want these kids to do well, but people throwing them straight into the team are crazy. Let them build their minutes up from the bench and let their confidence grow. I do not want us to have a disaster of a season, Ole to be gone and then these kids will just be thrown to the side.
Going back to the Fergie blueprintSSN just said United are unlikely to make further signings.
This is the weakest CM in some time
If we indeed rejected Neymar then im more than happy. It seems we moved away from galactico recrutment strategy. .You know damn well that's not the reason why we've allegedly rejected Neymar (and, for that matter, Dybala) so stop peddling false narratives just so you can have something to moan about.
Would take him in a heart beat, at least then top players would once again actually want to join united to play with a player like neymar, we see the effect else where with Juventus acquiring ronaldo and more top players wanting to go to juventus.Tweet

I'm sure most people on this forum, as its an enthusiast forum, have been watching football long enough not to put to much weight on preseason showings. I am not disputing the kids have potential and looked good on tour, but to argue that we are better off attacking wise going into the next season, even if we sell Lukaku, just because the kids looked good in preseason is an entirely different thing, one I don't subscribe to.They outperformed the older lot on tour. Last year they were only included until the World Cup players were back. Once the tour finished, they were sent back to the U18s/U23s. This time round they've been with us the whole way through preseason.
They might not be starting the season in the squads, but once the EL starts they'll have the chance to impress and establish themselves in the team, and if they do, I could quite easily see Gomes and Greenwood getting in and staying in.
The defence has gone from being awful to being potentially one one of the best in the league. £150m has been spent. What did you expect? £400m and 6 or 7 news players.People who think this has been a good window for us need a big slap
yes, because "team management" and/or whoever has had them in charge have proven themselves infallible in recent years, right? What is even the purpose of this forum if all we are going to do is blindly trust every decision made? Also, not expecting under-20 kids to carry such heavy burden going into the next year translates into "wanting to become Madrid-lite" to you? I sure do wish United ever came close to winning back-to-back-to-back CL's thoughI'm not declaring them "ready" the team management who do watch them everyday in training are. And I'm inclined to trust their judgement over the judgement of random caf posters who seem to want us to become Madrid-lite
Spend a fortune on a player that will be likely wanting to go in a year again. It would be another expensive mistake for another mercenary.Would take him in a heart beat, at least then top players would once again actually want to join united to play with a player like neymar, we see the effect else where with Juventus acquiring ronaldo and more top players wanting to go to juventus.
But we sell Lukaku, and if we also sell Darmian and Jones/Rojo/Smalling, then it’s about 100m euro total fee income. Our net spent will then be very very modest. The defence has gone from being awful to being potentially one one of the best in the league. £150m has been spent. What did you expect? £400m and 6 or 7 news players.
If so, you live in dreamland.
No. I think people were just hoping that if we sell Lukaku the money will be reinvested. It now looks we either sell and goodness knows what will happen with the money, or he stays and Ole is stuck with a player who has had no pre-season at all, does not want to be here and Ole does not want him either. The defence has gone from being awful to being potentially one one of the best in the league. £150m has been spent. What did you expect? £400m and 6 or 7 news players.

I don't know if you're being serious, through no fault of your own, but I am too. If we have learned nothing else from the last 6 years of mediocrity aside from the fact that pursuing galacticos isn't a good way to build a team, then I'll admit that Woody deserves an ounce more credit than I give him. We have to rediscover our penchant for finding gems before they cost an arm and a leg and have uncontrollable egos.If we indeed rejected Neymar then im more than happy. It seems we moved away from galactico recrutment strategy. .
It's been better than last summer. Fred, Grant and Dalot. Far better in fact.People who think this has been a good window for us need a big slap
Yeah let's wait and see as far as our defence goes. Just because we paid a record fee for Maguire doesn't mean he'll perform to that level. He had a pretty shit season by all accounts. Also not getting anyone in for CM when we were in need for reinforcement there even before Herrera and Fellaini left is outrageous. And again not taking care of the right wing position after almost a decade of ignoring it is also a joke. The defence has gone from being awful to being potentially one one of the best in the league. £150m has been spent. What did you expect? £400m and 6 or 7 news players.

Bit of a pointless comparison. Better than shit doesn't mean it's good. It's been better than last summer. Fred, Grant and Dalot. Far better in fact.
Last season was absolutely ridiculous but we knew that it might be because Jose was on his way out. What's the excuse this time? It's been better than last summer. Fred, Grant and Dalot. Far better in fact.
I'm not arguing that we're better off, I'm just taking issue with you saying that the kids are no better than they were last year. You only have to see what these same kids were producing last year and compare it to this year's efforts.I'm sure most people on this forum, as its an enthusiast forum, have been watching football long enough not to put to much weight on preseason showings. I am not disputing the kids have potential and looked good on tour, but to argue that we are better off attacking wise going into the next season, even if we sell Lukaku, just because the kids looked good in preseason is an entirely different thing, one I don't subscribe to.
It's not over yet. We've added two quality players and a potentially quality one who will need a few years.Bit of a pointless comparison. Better than shit doesn't mean it's good.
Well you could say that his an expert on that particular field.I’m very interested in Duncan Castles views on bald people
That is one low bar. Tbf, we were never going to address all our flaws in one window but going into the season with Matic our only specialist DM is just begging to fail. He's totally finished at a high level. It's been better than last summer. Fred, Grant and Dalot. Far better in fact.

If that isnt clear - im happy we didnt get enter the Neymar saga. Buy young hungry players -im all for it.I don't know if you're being serious, through no fault of your own, but I am too. I think we've got one more signing to come. Probably a creative midfielder to help Pogba. And no its not Bruno fecking Fernandes.I didn’t expect everything to be fixed with one window but I can’t believe we’ll start the season with our current midfield. It was already short of quality then we lost Fellaini and Herrera and Matic legs have gone.
If Pogba gets injured then we’re in big trouble.
Defence has become immensely better no doubt. The defence has gone from being awful to being potentially one one of the best in the league. £150m has been spent. What did you expect? £400m and 6 or 7 news players.
If so, you live in dreamland.
You do know that the method you're advocating is the precise reason why we're currently in this mess, don't you? Managers coming in and making wholesale changes, and leaving a mish mash of mangled players and playing styles which result in an unmitigated disaster scene of a squad.Yeah let's wait and see as far as our defence goes. Just because we paid a record fee for Maguire doesn't mean he'll perform to that level. He had a pretty shit season by all accounts. Also not getting anyone in for CM when we were in need for reinforcement there even before Herrera and Fellaini left is outrageous. I figured, but wanted to make sure. The Caf has become a tricky place to tread these days.If that isnt clear - im happy we didnt get enter the Neymar saga. Buy young hungry players -im all for it.
Bit harsh with the big slap, but I completely agree with you. Supposedly we’re one of the biggest/wealthiest clubs in the world, Yet we need at least a cm and a cdm, we need a winger, and an attacker... but it looks like the glazers are going to pocket Roms money, also saved on Herrera’s wages, Afro man’s wages, and let’s not forget, Ole is not an expensive manager either..People who think this has been a good window for us need a big slap
We going from one rebuild to another. We have been in rebuild for a decade now and most players acquired during this phase have already gone. This is no excuse for an underwhelming window once again. It's not over yet. We've added two quality players and a potentially quality one who will need a few years.
People foolishly thought we'd sign 5/6 world class players this summer. This isn't FIFA. This is how it is. The rebuild is going to take a few windows whether you like it or not.
Still think we've got an attacking player to come. Either a striker or creative AM.

Last summer was atrocious but at least it came off the back of a 2nd place finish. It's been better than last summer. Fred, Grant and Dalot. Far better in fact.
You don't win anything with kidsI'm sure most people on this forum, as its an enthusiast forum, have been watching football long enough not to put to much weight on preseason showings. Exactly. Even if we don't make the top 10 this season, at least it'll be interesting. I've given up hope of European football for next season now, and I look forward to the season with the youngsters trying their best to compensate for our dramatic under-investment.feck it, let's get on with the season now
