When Walker was about to leave they said Trippier is better. When Toby rejected contract, they said he isn't as good anymore and Sanchez is better (Toby ended up as first choice last season anyways), now Eriksen wants to leave they will highlight the negatives.
All club fans are like that though. Ander Herrera was excellent many times last season and many said he was just an average player when he left.

ATM anyway you're looking at two from Matic, McTominey, Fred and Andreas playing 30 + games next season so certainly Eriksen would improve things in midfield area by a considerable distance given his proven quality.

I'm not sure about Eriksen anymore. Seems to be a bit hit and miss lately. Went missing just about every CL game last season.

If at the beginning of the window you said I could choose a playmaker it would have been Eriksen.

Perfect mentality, and proven at this level. Would be like signing Mata again at 27. However, what we hopefully wouldn't do is waste his prime by playing him on the wing.

If we got this signing, it'd be an amazing window, and actually beyond expectations from my point of view (with me not being an absolute sex case transfer muppet).

Not getting my hopes up though, Levy would do everything to ensure he goes elsewhere.

Yeah he generally wasn't on it last season, had a dip in form like Dele Alli.

The other 3-4 seasons before that show what a class player he is though. Man. United would be mental to pass this up if he really wants to come. Only still 26 isn't he?

Yeah, won't disagree with the first part.

If we sign Eriksen then he will play as #10 I think or maybe we will finally move to 4-3-3 with Pogba and Eriksen playing deeper role. Both are same anyways.

In all fairness there were many saying he was a bang average player while he was here as well.

But I get your point.

Time for the formation

-------------De Gea-------------
AWB---Lindelof---Maguire---Shaw

Lingard------Eriksen------Rashford
-------------Martial-------------

(I wonder how long before someone moans about Lingard on the RW)

What if we get Eriksen and sell Pogba? Not sure how I would feel about this.

How much do you think he would cost and can we afford him? Maybe we need to sell Lukaku first?
Possibly £50-65m. He’s a quality player! I think Lukaku will go anyway, maybe later this window.

One thing I’d note about Eriksen - I get the feeling he’s played an awful lot of football in those legs. I was just doing random appearances searches to see if my hunch was correct; at 27 he’s played over 440~ games (Transfermarkt).

I thought I’d compare with some of his contemporaries, and that’s a good 60 more than Neymar, about 40 more than KDB (a year older), about 100ish more than Pogba, near 100 more than Salah etc.

He presses and covers distance at a high level also.

Is he one that will burn out at 30?

It’s feckin ‘Eriksen’. It literally says it in the bloody thread title.
The typos for Eriksen and Maguire on this forum when the correct spelling is in the title is beyond annoying. Literal idiots.
I'd be delighted with signing him. All i know is that MF needs reinforcements, and if this goes through it's a massive upgrade on what we have.

He's 27 and will be 28 this Feb during the season. Perhaps he is showing signs of slowing down a bit.

Scholes started at 22 but played a lot of football throughout his career so did Giggs. Look at Ronaldo as well or even Ibra. With proper conditioning and fitness work, I wouldn’t be worried.

Also I see him moving deeper ala Modric later in his career.

I'm all in on Eriksen. Would be a fantastic signing if we could get him for around £50M but knowing Levy he'll do everything to sell him to a foreign club.

I rate him highly but i really do think this could end up being another one of those signings we end up moaning about in a couple of years.

Feck me that's a lot of games for a 27 year old.

Plus he has 89 games for Denmark.

Replace Lingard for James and we're good to go.

Those players are generally the exception to the rule, though. Eriksen made his debut in January 2010, he was 17.

I could be wrong here, no doubt. Just an observation.

Nothing we would need to worry about (were we to sign him anyway) for another few seasons at least.

Alderweireld is another victim, some of the spelling attempts are actually quite creative:lol:.

He's exactly what we need, someone who can pick a pass and control the tempo of the game. 2nd half of our game at Spurs last season he did just that and totally dictated the flow. Just get him.
