We should practice playing in triangles more like Mancity does. So many times there was an opportunity to play in a triangle between AWB, Dan and Lingard but we were bit lost and gave the ball away. Same thing with Rashford, Shaw, Lingard/Scott
Spot on. Many a times we have seen this today. Once Martial was free without a Wolves player in sight and Lingard turned back.
Yes Lingard was involved in the goal but apart from that none of our forwards are in the game. I feel Ole may have missed a trick in this game by not playing Matic. I am one who always think he is not good enough but with him there Pogba and Scott is not going to get overrun. Now most of the balls are long balls hit up front and neither Martial nor Rashford is going to win anything against any CBs. With Pogba allowed to go forward it would allow him to be more close to Martial and also create more.

Garbage. Lingard's role in the goal was key. He is playing a great fluid closing down role and linking play.
Right, look at the goal again, look where Lingard was, central, that's where he needs to stay we look more dangerous if he does, but he's drifting far too much.

We've been dominant in keeping the ball. Now we need to obviously keep doing that, step it up a notch to open them up a little. I feel like with Lingard in there #10 is a bit of a wasted position for us.

Rashford confuses me. Honestly don't know what to make of him. At some points during a game you think 'wow this kid is nailed on to be world class' and at other points he simply looks so poor.

James is poor and nowhere near good enough, but his selection is totally on the shoulders of OGS. Nothing wrong with buying him as a cheap punt for potential, but relying on him in gameweek 2 is simply silly. He's no better than Greenwood or Gomes, but is being selected.

Martial is 'meh' - feels weird to say that when he has 2 in 2, but he just seems to be 'decent' when he could be so much more.

    Slabhead and ObiWan looking good!

Played a perfect half. Choked them off of possession, got the goal, great work rate. Lingard has been finding good spaces in the middle and isn't running around like a headless chicken. Maguire's passing has been brilliant.

We could be slightly better at keeping the ball and playing it out from the back, I don't know why we make it so complicated.

Lingard in that 10 is refreshing. He's tracking around everywhere and generally linking up with players simply enough. I've seen him bust a gut to win the ball from deep and make driving runs forward. Really pleased with him.

Lingard has the hardest role to play... of course he’s going to seem the least effective player given that he’s the central attacking midfielder with 3 center backs and a 3 man midfield. I’d like to see more runs from Shaw down the left... that was crucial to our goal but what a fantastic finish by Martial...

    The positives

    * The one that really matters, we're winning, and deservedly. We've been the much better side.
    * Martial and Rashford look to be gelling really well together, they've been playing off each other really well with the help of Lingard as a third man runner.
    * Lindelof and Maguire showing absolute comfort on the ball, it's brilliant to see. Even if Maguire has skewed a few headers, and Lindelof wasn't completely convincing in that one clearance.
    * McTominay showing us his consistency again. Winning the ball, always playing the right pass, and showing a physical presence in midfield.
    * AWB is the best defensive fullback in the league.

    The negatives
I'm nitpicking here, we've been very good, but if I had to say a few things.

    * We still offer very little on the right hand side, AWB doesn't offer much going forward, and I'm not convinced James is the finished product yet.
    * Pogba is as usual the most talented player on the pitch, he's been okay, but there's been a couple of lazy passes
    * I don't think Wolves will be as poor in the second half.

    Overall

If we move up a gear, we could win this very comfortably. It could be a great game for Greenwood to make a mark, he's a little more technical than James, and the Wolves lads will be gunning for him. They're a snidey team full of moaners and the fans are acting like pricks as well. It would be great to keep another cleansheet.

I mean in that case, James having a yellow card is his own fault
He didn't dive though. He put the ball past the defender and as he went to run by he clipped the defender. It's a foul by James on the defender not a dive.

Got to be happy or at least content with that first half. The team looks pretty solid and I like the way we have kept possession for the most part. I don’t think Wolves have had a clear cut chance yet.

    Few minor negatives from me:

James doesn’t seem to be making the simple runs forward that he should be, and his crossing has been poor too so far. Even a simple ball forward for James would be so effective in my opinion, as he can outpace anyone on the pitch. He isn’t giving himself enough space to receive the ball in dangerous positions either.

Lindelof has looked a bit dodgy too, but nothing to be too concerned about.

Great half. Once we get a true creative midfielder instead of Lingard then we have the makings of a very good team.
Either you go that route of a creative midfielder like say Eriksen and play with a control of midfield or you upgrade on Lingard with a better touch/passing but similar work rate, maybe somebody like Fernandes (never seen him so dont know him well but just an idea)

Maguire and AWB have made us a much more solid unit. Attacking wise we can improve but as long as we are not giving away stupid goals we are creating enough.

Maguire and Lindelof just exude poise and control. The question would always be if we could deal with a sides like Wolves who defend deep and counter attack. And we have shown we have the class and should be more than one up.

I know everyone hates lingard but he is doing a very good job getting back the ball from wolves or forcing them to give up posession. Trash with the ball though
The day that we're happy as long as our number 10 does a defensive job is the day that I officially hang myself. Surely we should be able to trust the back 7 to win the ball and primarily judge our number ten on the attacking qualities he brings to the team.

It's easy, he is still developping and will turn into a fine fine player. We just need to be a little patient along the way

Both of our fullbacks have been very good. We look like an actual team out there.

Other than Lingard and to a lesser extent James, all of our players have played well.

Loved the way we have pressed so far, they are struggling to play the ball out from their defence.

Fcukin hell I thought I was negative!! Rashford has been very good today, Martials finish , and James while slightly sloppy has been brilliant at tracking back!

A number 10 who is useless with the ball is an oxymoron. Does he create? Does he score? No he just runs around like a headless chicken out there.
is this a newe caf phrase. I dont think he is good enough, he is hardly a "headless chicken" though

Really impressed. Massive difference to last season, we actually look like we can deal with their counter without breaking a sweat
