I think Sky Sports have tried to copy the very popular American daily debate sports shows such as First Take and Undisputed.

In theory its not a bad idea but the main difference is the American shows have entertaining co hosts who make watching it worthwhile. The banter between Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe is several levels above the boring nonsense you'd get from Geoff Shreeves or whoever the guest of the day is on Sky.

The show is clearly lacking in personality and entertainment. I think the Copa 90 guys Vuj and Poet would make for a far more interesting daily football show than the current lot, even though it wouldn't be as insightful from a tactical perspective.

*say it quietly* I honestly think that some of the best football discussion panels you can find out there are on Youtube now. Obviously not talking about the OTT post-match reaction videos, but the reflective debates channels like Ballstreet and Copa90 put out are often the most thoughtful and honest. Certainly far better than The Debate. They of course aren't as cutting edge in regards to insider information, but besides that I'd say they have it beat.

I actually don't mind some of them. It depends who the host for the day is and which guests they have though really.

I don't think having a different host each day is working at all either

Thought it was funny with Ian Wright and Dennis Wise waxing lyrical about VAR until Shreeves turned it around and asked if they'd have liked to have had it when they played.

Is this the most boring football show on TV (ever)? Looks like it's been introduced just to increase the air time of Geoff Shreeves.

If you see it as ‘boring’ then you must be bored stiff by anyone talking about football ?

It’s such a simple format. Interviewer, ex players or pundits talking, er, football. No different to any post match opinions that we get after every live game. If you like football what is there really not to like about such a simple show ?

I watched a recent one on youtube with Danny Murphy, Purslow and Henry Winter. Danny Murphy's level of analysis was a joke, really funny. Purslow may have been a failure at Liverpool but his understanding of the financial aspect of football was fascinating

Joy is something else too, it doesn't hurt the views I suppose. I like the show because everyone has his role and they're are incredibly biased but don't try to hide it.

It all depends on the hosts and panelists.

TV needs less relics like Souness or mid level nobodies like Danny Murphy.

It's always better hearing from genuine world class players like Henry or those who really put effort in like Carragher/Neville.

I've also noticed ex players speak a lot more freely when they're interviewed/on with players from their era instead of TV hosts or older players.

It's not bad in small doses. Sometimes view a video on youtube depending on the topic. But I think sitting through a whole say every night is overkill. You're really just going over the same talking points over and over.

It's programs like this I despise! Just thrown together to over promoted the Premier League! It's bad enough Sky Sports News covering the league 24/7

She's mine @kouroux back off :nono:

Yeah the biased views they hold for Lebron are hilarious and always make for entertaining debates. The PL is incredible to watch but the TV shows related to the game could be better. The best content seems to be from Youtube channels like AFTV, Copa90 etc.

I'll fight to death for her jefe, although I did notice another host in a recent episode, not bad at all

It's a nice idea but hinges on the quality of the people on screen.

Unfortunately, Geoff Shreeves might just be the biggest arsewipe in sports broadcasting and some of the guests (Murphy being a very good example) are terrible.

Craig Bellamy is always good value, mind.

There’s very rarely actually interesting discussion taking place on this, very child like at times.

I've never watched but it does seem odd how it appears to be on nearly every night. Surely they run out of stuff to talk about and just talk drivel.

It isn't completely awful and im not against having more football orientated shows but given it's meant to be a serious discussion it just needs to have a bit more going on. I doubt many people actually tune in every night.

Gotta say, I do like the BT Sports analysis, Rio, Scholes, Hargreaves, and Keown seem to provide much more insights, and more fun stories, on BT Sport then they do when on the BBC or other sports shows. Hargreaves insight is particularly good.

Bloody foreigners, coming over here telling us how to handle balls. We need Brexit tomorrow to save us from the madness of VAR.

I don't think he knows how it works. I'm not convinced he knows how anything works.

Love Undisputed first take not do much but it's still good .

It could work over here with permanent hosts one a journalist and one a former sports star and the right moderator and doesn't have to be a purely football show . Get people who know about more than football .

I'm not a basketball fan but love undisputed whenever Shannon gets a chance to wear his GOAT mask when LeBron does well . Plus the hosts side bets always make it entertaining

Sky Sports football has become one of my favourite youtube channels this season. Their discussion videos are of variable quality but can be decent time killers but now they have every PL game's goals and highlights in a short package plus interviews plus archive stuff. I'm watching it more and more and not bothering with things like MOTD this season. Just more convenient.

You're on SkySports used to be good with Gary Newbon and Rob McCaffrey.

I've tuned into the Debate a few times but like others have said, it's boring as shite and Geoff Shreeves is a megacunt.
