Klopp had proven himself at Dortmund. Ole was the Molde manager and that's his level.
Agreed! Don't know why people kept mentioning this point. Klopp has managed fecking Dortmund not some low league team. And he has clear football style than Ole. I love Ole but not thia tactic and football management.

Allegri is ten times the manager Ole is.
Quite possibly, but he's not the right fit for United, the next manager needs to be attacking. Surely we can't have to suffer through another defensive manager just to win a match.

Ah but didn’t they have the opportunity to sort the midfield out in summer?

You’re not telling me that there aren’t a host of midfielders out there who couldn’t hold in to the ball better than Pereira and Lingard?

I’ll wager in Ligue 1 there are a dozen better
Thats poor management from the top and dont see how that has any implication on the question the OP is asking - I am certain that Ole would have prefered to have more midfielders to chose from that current.

Also didnt help that the prem decided to shoot itself in the foot and shut its window early.

Goes much deeper than the results though dont you think?

Could have probably kept Lukaku and Sanchez around and maybe slogged out a fourth spot place, give Herrera his 300k a week or whatever he wanted and just got on with it. Change was needed, he's cutting the cesspool of a squad that was build over the last 6 years and is trying to start fresh with hungry young players, it will take time.
He’s also rewarded mediocrity with Rashford getting a big new contract. Whilst Lingard will probably get a new one too.

If his sacking would mean the owners and Woodward would go with him then yes. They won't so what's the point of sacking him only to let these clueless fools decide who the next manager would be? They decided to rush it and hire him when they had more than enough time to wait it out and I can even guarantee had they not made him permanent manager when they did we would have finished top 4 as well.

Sadly the Glazer's and Ed are not men. Men would stand behind their decision and own up to it but these clowns are just inevitably going to sack Ole and then we will be in the exact same situation next year and we will be 2 years away from a decade of this circus. The club has gone rotten.

I can't imagine any scenario where the manager would tell Woodward he wants to get rid of players and not replace them with better ones that suit his style. Youth in today's construct isn't the same as it was in the 90s, so you have to have experienced players to move the needle.

Obviously he wanted more players in? it's common knowledge we wanted Dybala, Longstaff and to a small degree Eriksen it just didn't happen so know we're stuck with Lingard and Mata.

Played many years under Ferguson, but did he learn anything about game planning and tactics ?

Right now, he is the best option available, but not sure what is his potential for the long term.

One thing for sure is the squad we now will have to punch well above it’s weight to just finish 6th.
Again that. So you are saying that Wolves, Everton or Leicester have the same squad like us? This squad should fight for top 4. Finishing 6th is minimum of minimum.

I think he has zero expectations for this season. Rebuilding the team is his first task I believe.

You don’t know that for certain. He’s a manager who has integrity, you can see that.
I just think amidst all the speculation when Jose left, he didn’t want to stab Spurs in the back.

At the end of this season though?
Has it ever occurred to you that he preferred to stay at a well-run, established top 4 club, with regular CL football on offer? The man himself has said that he's turned down many offers to leave.

I'm not anti Scottish, I just wanted Moyes out.
We've been the best side by far in all four games so far, it really hasn't been as bad as some makes it out to be. He's got the right idea, but as I said earlier, he's got way too much confidence in some of the players and some of them just doesn't have enough quality on the ball to unlock tight defenses.

He just said in the press conference that we tried to bring in one more attacker but failed. That's on Woodward.
Oh come on will you. Are you blind? We are crap.

His game management is terrible, even during that run when he first joined we got outplayed in the second half

We need a manager who has a plan, and who can get the best out of the players they have at their disposal. That is something all of our last 3 managers have been unable to get a combination of. Allegri would at least bring some stability for now. We basically need that until we get rid of the parasite Glazers otherwise this can turn very ugly.

I think our squad is on a par to those in current state. Not better at all.

No mate, you had plenty of the media saying 'they have to appoint him now don't they' alot of us fans were saying 'lets just wait until the end of the season like planned and decide then' it was a stupid decision to award him the job full time when we hadn't even seen him go through any adversity!
The rag journalists ( 90%) of what now constitutes the print media were looking at Ole as some sort of "wet dream" appointment because they knew he'd be the first manager, at OT, in living memory, who would give them the comprehensive access, and professional accommodation, they'd craved for so long in gaining access to the office of manager at the club. They were almost universally enthusiastic where his appointment was concerned, because win, lose, or draw, Ole will always make their job so much easier.

I think he has the right ideas but is out of his depth as a coach. It's one thing saying the right things but I don't think he can implement them.

Positivity can only get you so far, but if tactically you're not good enough and you lack a clear coaching philosophy you will be found out.

Therefore the problem is less Ole and moreso those above him - most notably Woodward.

Its like Ed and the Glazers consider it some sort of trophy-like victory to have banked Lukaku's fee and offloaded Alexis' wages.

Well has he shown he can get results with a squad of this quality? It's different at Juventus, they're stacked, we're talking about a manager who managed to lose to a United side with a stroppy Jose.
That was a fluke result. We had two chances and they had about 100. You also forgot his spell at Cagliari. Even Milan when he won the league with wasn’t one of their greatest squads with only Ibra being the standout.

So you wouldn’t want Tuchel either? Replay both those matches 100 times and 99 times PSG and Juve beat us.

Nonchalantly scoring the winner...
The problem is, most of the managers in the PL are better football coaches than Solksjaer...

So while people love him, and he says the soundbites that many lap up - the reality is that Wolves, Burnley, Foxes, Southampton, Bournemouth have a better manager than Man Utd does.

Last week was a prime example - for all his failure at Liverpool, Roy is a better coach than Solksjaer, albeit with far less resources at Palace, and thus he out-foxed him and got the win.

The reality is that Solksjaer, by PL standards, is a really poor coach.

And admitting that doesn't mean that you 'don't love the club', or even that you dislike Solksjaer, it's just the truth.

This squad might not be amazing, but it contains a decent amount of quality. But the manager in charge is barely of Championship level.

9 months ago, our squad was being held back our manager, why isn't it the same now?
I never thought that , 9 months ago the squad was poor quality as well. It still is.

Regardless of who is in charge of Utd these days it is a mammoth challenge to get us back challenging again considering our far we have fallen.

Like it or not we are known as a basket case club among the bigger clubs in Europe , no elite player with real ambition is going to choose us over one of the other bigger clubs in Europe , all we can offer is money and Europa league football.

Why would Allegri bring stability? A few losses and he'd be on the chopping block like any other manager.

Last week against a packed defense we will not bring Mata on... this week chasing a goal we will not bring Greenwood on.

I get Woodward screwed him this summer, but dear me, Ole is not even using the options he does have...

I'm waiting for another farcical thread defending this fraud of a manager, of course, he thinks he's good enough for the job just like lots of top-class ex-pros, the truth is 99% have not got want it takes to be a decent let alone
a world-class manager and Solksjaer isn't even a decent manger and the all lamebrained wishful thinking will not make him one. If he had any integrity he would resign or will he wait till he's sacked so he gets all his money.

Id say Tuchel is a much more interesting prospect than Allegri, he plays decent football and lost to us when we were actually playing well. The United that played well for a few months under Ole is a different prospect to that Jose side near the end.

It's not the thread to start this bullshit with you but feck off and come back when you win a trophy. United are a shambles and have still won more since SAF retired than you lot have in 40 years.

Massive club. The mighty Tottenham Hotspur. Fecking hell.

Why wouldn't he? He would bring a game plan, and actually try and get the best out of the players we have. We currently have no game plan as such, and are not getting the best out of our players. It's a complete reversal.

He is the worst performing permanent manager in Manchester United’s history. A win rate of 19%.

Not won an away game since March.

Those saying back him are either stupid or drunk.
Since I am not drunk I probably belong to the stupid group in your estimate. But tell me how you would have done this. OGS took over the worst squad we have had in long time. He has got rid of 7 players and needs to clear out a similar number of players in coming transfer windows. He made 3 really good signings and is giving youth a chance. Since talking to a person of high IQ it would be interesting to know the quick fix answer from you since you think sacking OGS is the answer.

He dropped Lingard today like people wanted, he moves Pogba to 10 at one point, then when Southampton get a man sent off he drops Pogba back and brings Greenwood on like anyone who knows anything about football would have. How can you blame Ole today? We dominated the game, he can only work with what he has.

Us losing was down to the players today nothing to do with Ole.

Surely we need a better coach at least? Carrick has zero experience and Phelan isnt known for training ground work. Letting it all to the young Mckeena who has never done it at this level has to be as bad a decision making as the recruitment policy of not bringing in the players to replace the departures. Plus, Ole is all the talk of giving youth a chance when it actually comes to do it he shits his pants for whatever reason.

There's no certainty Allegri would get more out of these players than the few previous have done. I massively disagree that it would be a complete reversal, I could be wrong though.

Are there more quotes from his post match interview? Fergie would have not been happy with either the team, the ref, the opposing manager, the pitch.. something at least. This guy thinks all is hunky dory or at least pretends to do so. Ffs, show some emotion. He sits there like a guy waiting to catch a train and with no music available. He seems bored on the touchline. I am absolutely hating this. This is getting very bad and not sure how it will be turned around.

Will Woodward, Glazers actually hold a performance review and will Ole have the balls to tell them the squad isn't good enough and for them to retort that he isn't up to it either? Are they actually honest with each other?
That's Fergie after he'd built up his empire. Ole doesn't have the clout to do that, if he starts complaining about refs he will come across more Warnock than Ferguson. No excuses culture and all that.

Does Ole think that we are good enough to compete for top four or are Ole, Woody, and the owners in agreement that this is a season of transition and they will accept to finish outside of top six?

Our transfer window suggests that the club is now happy to finish top ten, alternatively that Ole and the coaches are so incompetent that they cannot tell a good player from a mediocre one. Lingard and Perreira are our options for RW, is that based on lack of transfer money or lack of basic understanding of the game?
