Nope but the way the ultras expect him to just deal with it, and not making it a big problem is kinda funny.

And stupid. But what do you expect? some football fans just take everything on the football pitch to a whole new level. At least the rest of the fans are behind him.

It does remind me of something though and I'm sure He'll deal with it alright.
You’re basically enjoying the schadenfreude of a player who is suffering racist abuse because he was a bit of a dick at our club.

How anyone can have that response is beyond me, it gets me instantly behind him and willing him to do well, no questions.

Indeed. The guy is a grade a twerp, who was extremely unprofessional at Utd and clearly not good enough, I am elated he no longer plays for us - however none of those things mean the guy should be racially abused.

Italy do not have a good track record with racism in football, neither to UEFA - so unfortunately nothing will get done.

Are there any Serie A clubs where ultras aren’t a significant portion of the fan base?

I didn’t realise Inter’s were considered particularly bad, I thought Lazio were the worst, but I don’t really follow Italian football.

All the big clubs. If by significant you mean numbers

Depends. When it comes to racism they are among the worst, though not as bad as some like lazio or hellas verona. In terms of violence, what happened with the napoli ultras last year was an exception, as they're generally not particularly violent(napoli, lazio, roma are much worse in that regard off the top of my head)

People need to stop talking about what he should or should not have expected. How is no black players moving to Italy going to solve any of the racism?

Agree. Let's keep focused on the problem (ignorant and disrespectful fans not players trying to enjoy their career).

Thanks for the info, it’s pretty interesting to read about. Had a google of some interesting articles online.

Is football seen as a family game in Italy? It seems like a bit of a hostile and threatening place to take kids too.

Edit: Sorry, I’m derailing the thread, ignore me.

Edit: Wrong thread
What the hell has promoting has promoting his brand got to do with receiving racist abuse? Is he not allowed to? What has one got to do with the other?
You're basically saying he asked for it.

I edited my post a few minutes before your reply and stated that I put a post in the wrong thread..

He will always score goals and he will get tons in Italy.

He even got a fair few for us last season, when we create next to nothing.

I’m not saying we shouldn’t have sold him, he didn’t fit the direction Ole wants to go in. But selling him without replacing him was fecking stupid.

EDIT - He’ll always do stupid stuff and miss sitters like that too

Under a tree.
Scores a tap in and then fluffs a chance that requires a hint of technique... Pretty much the same as I remember...

Been absolutely dreadful

Scored a tap in and has lost the ball 10 times since.

He needs acres of space to score goals. He gets that when playing for Belgium against championship level sides.

32 goals for Belgium since August 2016, whatever your views that’s some going. Rooney being England’s all time top on 53 puts that into some perspective.

He’ll score a tap in, but it’s a pity he’s absolutely crap at everything else.

He was scoring countless goals for Belgium while playing with us yet he was still pretty poor at United.

And yet Lukaku is one of top goal scoring:game ratios for Manchester United.

Stop making false claims

Maybe we’re the problem.
Majority of his international games are championship level opponents.

He should move to the championship and become the GOAT. May need De Bruyne, Hazard and Mertens to move with him though.

We have scored 1 goal in each of the last three games, find another scapegoat.

Oh wait, you guys have, it’s Rashford.

Didn’t see that one! Apologies!

@Castia please share a scoreline that itemises how many times a player has lost ball. I tell you one about when someone does a tap in: tonight for Lukaku.

You seen this Scotland side? I’d be on my hat trick by now.

Seriously though he’s been pretty shite despite his goal, missed a sitter too.

He's a goalscorer but the other facets of his game are severely lacking. He'll never be good enough for the top sides in Europe due to his poor touch, hold up play and inconsistent finishing.

Arguments for not selling him due to our alternatives are commendable and I agree; but overall he's not good enough for where we're trying to be.
