Gun control

How does owning a gun make you safe? Just curious? If somebody rocks up at your place of work with an AK-47, how does having a gun make you safe? By the time he's probably been taken down, he's most likely taken out 20-30 people. Just sayin'...
That my question. So my cousin got choked and so her brother took his gun and shot say him.

Returns fire

Guess who got hit. The house

Do they seriously still believe that they could be invaded or go through some full scale civil war?? We don't live in those times anymore. The 2nd Amendment just needs to be scrapped...period! As I've said before so long as they keep that shit over there, let them carry on shooting themselves to pieces.

Yes, they do. Not everyone obviously, but a large enough portion of the population fears being invaded by Russia, China, Muslims, etc.

Not even the most idiotic of rednecks I'm surrounded by fear an outside invasion. They fear a minority socialist coming to take their guns and put their moms in a state-run nursing home that will expedite their departure from this mortal coil. They fear gender neutral bathrooms and Spanish on menus and ingredient labels.

No one is afraid of China or Russia invading the US mainland.

No lies detected.
The amount of times at work I hear people piss and moan about someone not speaking English when it has nothing to do with them is insane.
They all went out and hoarded ammo when Obama was in office because "libs want my guns".

Carrying a concealed gun is not to save other people’s life but their own and family, in most states if using a firearm to help someone could get that person in trouble so the idea is if a mass shooting look for the closest exit.

Then why do you need it if you're running anyway? Why is one of the lynchpin arguments for the gun nuts that you need guns to stop mass shooters, if everyone had guns, etc.?

But they've been using this as an argument to justify having guns in that the shooter can be neutralized quickly. Wasn't that the whole point of arming teachers etc.??

It just highlights how fecked up the whole issue of gun ownership is. Pro gun people will always come up with lame ass excuses.

BOOM!

How to contradict yourself and destroy your own argument in one post. The sheer ignorance, arrogance and stupidity of the vast majority of gun owners responses are exactly the same as the one above. Absolute bullshit.

I wish the cnuts would just be honest and say 'We won't let you take our guns because we like them and like shooting shit, we honestly don't care how many people die, this is our right and we won't back down, ever and we don't give a feck about anyone else's rights but our right to own guns,'

I could at least respect the cnuts then. But the pussies haven't even got the fecking balls to admit that. Cowardly little fecks that they are.

How many mass shootings have been stopped by a normal person with a gun? Asking because I genuinely do not know the answer - presumably it must be tons as that is the basis of one of the main arguments for the gun lobby.

They are definitely not cowards and definitely don't have tiny penises. Only real men carry guns.

I love how they're just today talking about taking action against vaping because of the health concerns. Americans are so dumb!

To be fair, it's the wrong approach completely. Using a gun probably won't hurt you but people should be aware of the dangers of second hand bullets.

Then yours are idiotic enough! Maybe it's because I'm going by people commenting on internet forums that I run into, and you're dealing with people in real life, and in real life they deploy an idiot filter a little bit more!

The problem is which state we are talking about, Texas and a few others yes you can try to be the hero but in Pennsylvania for example will give you trouble with the law if you used your gun.

Actually the sheer ignorance of people with guns and the laws around them are amazing. I said and I will say again carrying a concealed gun is for personal and family protection not to protect the rest of the world and because we have so many states with laws that will punish anyone who uses the concealed gun to protect someone else most of the people will not use the gun at all if is not in immediate danger.

So you're telling me that you're out with your family enjoying a nice evening and some whacko walks into the restaurant with an AK-47 and starts spraying the place. You're going to get your gun out and engage in a gunfight with him??

2 options in that situation get killed or fight, obvious I would use a gun if I had one

What do you mean protection?? What circumstances would cause you to whip out your gun to 'protect' yourself and your family? Because I'm almost certain that they're the same as exists over here.

A vague and typical response. I don't think I've ever heard a rational defence from any gun owner. It's like they're all brain-washed.

Actually thousands of gun owners use their guns for protection successfully but if you watch only CNN here in the states you will hear only about mass shootings if caused by whites.

Someone attacks you or your family and you are able to grab the gun and hopefully you practice shooting enough and are able to stop the guy, concealed gun is like an insurance you have but you never want to use it because you don’t know if you survive the outcome.

Actually thousands of gun owners use their guns for protection successfully but if you watch only CNN here in the states you will hear only about mass shootings if caused by whites.

How are you defining successfully? As in, nobody gets killed and the gun never gets used? Or the gun gets used?

In Britain break ins aren't that common in every day life (yeah, there's a lot but considering how many houses there are multiplied by the amount of days in a year it's really not many) and the criminals are even less likely to be armed. American gun owners use the 'well criminals still have guns' argument without considering that it would probably de-escalate the seriousness of the situation even from the criminal point of view. No gun from the owner means less likelihood of using a gun because they won't need it. I'd rather be facing a baseball bat or some brass knuckles than a gun.

Someone attacks you or your family and you are able to grab the gun and hopefully you practice shooting enough and are able to stop the guy, concealed gun is like an insurance you have but you never want to use it because you don’t know if you survive the outcome.

How often does that actually happen to justify having a gun? Especially whilst children get shot and it makes international news and the rest of the world is sick and tired of seeing it nearly every day? Is it really worth it? How about for just getting your rocks off? Most gun owners really have them for in the US for getting their rocks off, let's be honest. If it was really just home protection there wouldn't be even a third of the guns there actually are in the US right now.

Someone attacks you or your family and you are able to grab the gun and hopefully you practice shooting enough and are able to stop the guy, concealed gun is like an insurance you have but you never want to use it because you don’t know if you survive the outcome.

A lot of ifs and buts there. How you view a concealed weapon as insurance is just crazy. Do you honestly believe that? It's only going to escalate the situation. So somebody holds you up with a gun and unless they are completely deranged they ain't gonna shoot you. You pull out your weapon and suddenly the stakes and peril are raised because they're now thinking they have to shoot or be shot. It's such a flawed argument, but like I said I've never heard one rational argument from a gun owner/sympathizer.

America is not the only place in the world where crime exists but it is probably the only place in the world where the default response is the use of a firearm. It's fecked up, it's brain-washed and it's beyond redemption.

To save myself and family but I’m in New Jersey and soon or later will be easier to get a gun in Portugal than here.

How many times have you saved your family? Are you going to be the hero to take down gunmen if something happens? You'd be the very first, despite the fact that no other gun nut has ever done it.

You gun nut flogs are too busy measuring knobs.

don't lots of statistics show if you carry a gun you're more likely to get shot?

so in fact you're putting yourself and your family in more danger by doing this

You must assume all of the people have a concealed gun but for example PA have more concealed licenses than Texas (over a million), so the chances for someone with a gun to be present when a shooter walks in a store are low. Most if not all the mass shootings are in a "gun free zone".
List of cases of people stopping a mass shooting:

Newnan, Georgia, August 13, 2018

This is an amazing story that was caught on video. An employee who wasn’t even scheduled to work that day, but was simply hanging around the bar outside in the parking lot, stopped an attack that the police say would have likely resulted in multiple deaths.

Colonial Heights, Tennessee, February 13, 2019
A shooting at a dentist office in Colonial Heights, Tennessee was stopped by Larry Seagroves, a concealed handgun permit holder. After the killer, Harry Weaver, fatally shot one person, Kelly Weaver, his wife, he turned his gun on other people in the office.

Birmingham, Alabama, October 27, 2018
A masked man entered a McDonald’s restaurant and immediately started firing his gun. A concealed handgun permit holder returned firing killing the attacker.

Louisville, Kentucky, Wednesday, October 24, 2018
The national media has picked up on this story because of the killer, Gregory Bush, is racist, but they are ignoring the fact that a white civilian with a concealed handgun permit stopped the attack. Both the people murdered at the Koger — Maurice Stallard, 69, and Vickie Jones, 67 — were black. Bush had apparently tried to do an attack at a black church before shooting blacks at the Kroger indicates he was trying to kill as many blacks as possible and that the number of blacks killed could have been much worse if it wasn’t for the concealed handgun permit holder.

Titusville, Florida, August 4, 2018
A shooting at a back to school event for children and their families had a shooting that was quickly stopped by a concealed handgun permit holder.

Tumwater, Washington, June 18, 2018
He is a hero,” Adams said. “He took action. I really think more people could have been shot… he saved us all.”

A wild rampage at a Walmart in Tumwater, Washington was stopped when three concealed handgun permit holders confronted and killed the attacker. The attacker had carjacked a vehicle that he drove to the Walmart. Once there, the attacker stole ammunition and then went out of the store, continuing to shoot at people.

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Thursday, May 24, 2018
Two men who had handguns in their cars, Juan Carlos Nazario, 35, and Bryan Whittle, 39, stopped what likely would have been a mass shooting at Louie’s Grill & Bar in Oklahoma City.

San Antonio, Texas, December 7, 2017 (ABC 13 in San Antonio, Time Magazine)
This case is an exception to all the other cases shown here in that it received national coverage on Time magazine’s website. A man with a gun was about to start shooting a father’s children as they were walking out of a restroom when the father killed the attacker.

Rockledge, Florida, November 17, 2017 (Florida Today, WFTV.com in Orlando)
Two concealed handgun permit holders stopped an attack at Schlenker Automotive repair shop at 4:30 PM on the Friday after Thanksgiving. The attacker, Robert Bailey, was armed with a .45-caliber handgun and “multiple magazines” and killed one person and severely wounded another in the business’ parking lot. Bailey continued shooting inside the shop.

Clearlake Oaks, California, October 23, 2017 (FBI report on active shooter incidents for 2016-17)
From the FBI report on page 5. At the first target, the killer was forced to stop his attack because of police arriving at the scene. At the second target, a concealed handgun permit holder forced the attacker to break off his attack.

Antioch, Tennessee, September 24, 2017 (Chicago Tribune, Daily Caller) (the above picture shows a picture of Samson after he received treatment for his minor wound)
A 25-year-old shooter, Emanuel Kidega Samson, killed one person in the parking lot, entered the church, and started shooting. A 22-year-old usher, Robert Engle, tried to wrestle with the shooter, but Samson is a very large bodybuilder, and Engle realized that he was not strong enough to stop him. During the scuffle, Samson pistol wiped Engle causing him to bleed from his head. Samson also shot himself, causing very minor wounds to his chest and arm. Engle then ran to his car and got his permitted concealed handgun. The usher came back into the church and confronted the attacker, holding him there at gunpoint until police arrived. With one dead and seven wounded, the attack could have been much worse.

Arlington, Texas, May 3, 2017 (Dallas Morning News)
This attack was stopped before more than one person was killed. Yet, the police spokesman made it clear that the concealed handgun permit holder “prevented further loss of life” and that the killer was “shooting at the front door” at the customers who were fleeing the restaurant. The headline on the Dallas Morning News story was: “‘Hero’ stopped mass murder by crazed bar patron who was armed to the teeth, police say.” Emphasis added in quotes below

Townville Elementary School, September 28, 2016 (FBI report on active shooter incidents for 2016-17)

From the FBI report on page 5.
On September 28, 2016, at 1:45 p.m., Jesse Dewitt Osborne, 14, armed with a handgun, allegedly began shooting at the Townville Elementary School playground in Townville, South Carolina. Prior to theshooting, the shooter, a former student, killed his father at their home. Two people were killed, includingone student; three were wounded, one teacher and two students. A volunteer firefighter, who possessed a valid firearms permit, restrained the shooter until law enforcement officers arrived and apprehended him.

Lyman, South Carolina, June 30, 2016 (Fox Carolina)
Just a couple of weeks after the Orlando massacre, man, 32-year-old Jody Ray Thompson, started shooting at others at another nightclub. Fortunately, unlike Florida, permitted concealed handguns were allowed in bars in South Carolina. Before he could shoot a fourth person, the permit holder was able to shoot back, wounding Thompson in the leg.

The list goes on and the reason you never heard about them is because the media wants bodies not heroes.

Ok so thats great and all but that is a small number compared to the shootings that occur every single day in America. I'd be interested to hear what percentage of shootings are stopped by a normal person with a gun. What do you think that would be? I'd estimate it's pretty low.

It's interesting that you highlight the most (or all!?) mass shootings are in gun free zones - quite strange then that in countries such as the UK (for example) where the entire country is a gun free zone there aren't multiple mass shootings every day (which is happening in the US).

That's your logic there. That would suggest that it's not the 'gun free zone' that is the problem, it's the culture that enables people to purchase guns freely and also the fact that on the whole people planning a shooting will generally tend to do it in a place they think less guns will be about to enable them to kill more people before being shot.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - America as a culture is an absolute cess pit - the worst in the developed world. Absolutely in the pocket of big business, utterly corrupt and morally bankrupt. People there are brainwashed from birth that they are living in a great country and they are 'free'. The place disgusts me.
It's a ridiculous hive minded cult like country, do the work we tell you, worship the flag and our God in our way, be scared of anything new and different but, no honestly, you ARE free.
Is a sad fact that I am thinking about home school for my boy.
Bring him home to the civilized world, and if she argues ask her if her slavish devotion to the cult of uncle Sam is worth her children's lives.

He's 15 and my daughter is 21. It's 3 against 1.

Daddy Huckabee going out of his way yet again to out-stupid his own daughter and once again getting shot down in flames. However, he and the dumbasses who think like him are the reason why change is so hard. It's scary that these morons are the ones with the guns.
