It's not the players, it's not Rashford, it's not Chong. Our problem is and has been for a long time that almost our entire team just stands there in possession. Only Rashford shows any sort of movement. Then when we occasionally have Gomes, Chong Greenwood in-between lines, our midfield always plays it safe and ball ends up out wide.
Yep, we dither on the ball so much.

Relying on Rashford to be our main man up-front this season is going to cost us big time. He's not a natural finisher at all and he really should have had a hat-trick by now
    We aren't.

Martial is our main man up front. He's injured.

Right, so could anyone who closely follows the youth team explain to me what kind of a player Chong is? I hope I’m not being too harsh but unlike Gomes and Greenwood, he seems rather clueless out there.

It surprises me some fans calling for fast passing when the technical ability of our players is not good enough to control the ball unless its weakly hit...that together with requiring 3 touches before we can get the pass away is the main reason we struggle against compact sides.

Rojo could have two assists already. Attackers need wake up and we should be fine.

    Dalot and Tuanzebe quite impressive.

Being main striker and leading the line, Rashford dissapointed me. We are going nowhere if relying on him. He never tries to aim a bit more when the chances come, just touch it. Martial is so much better at 9 and offering more.

    Jone and Matic finish.

Dalot is fine as this is his first game but with all the space and time he has, I would love to see him create more chaos.

    Just got home.
Is it chong on the right, greenwood striker and rashford left? Because that would make more sense than the lineup my app is showing
It would make more sense, but in true united fasion, the managers best finisher in the club is stuck on the wing, while Rashford has a game of pass it to the keeper.

Tuanzebe and Gomes best players in the half. Matic still showing why he’s a total liability in defensive transitions. Greenwood needs to go center. Overall not a bad half given this team hasn’t played together before

Whilst myself and many other posters have been criticised for daring to say it, does this mean that Ole and the staff have been in seeing in training what we are all clearly seeing tonight; that whilst Gomes has potential, he isn't ready to come into the first team and make a huge impact in PL games? Fancy that.

Gomes is playing too high up, play him in midfield with the other two. He could find great passing angles to our forwards. We need Chong on the right, and Greenwood up top. Rashford isnt going to get it done. Would Levy take 40 million plus Rashford for Son?

 people already saying Greenwood is overrated. Firstly, hes a striker out of position, secondly, he has played 45 mins

Rashford is weird tonight. He's snatching at the chances with no real conviction.

Greenwood should be given a go up there for the second half.

Just how did Marcus Rashford bag a superstar's contract at Manchester United when he consistently plays like a schoolboy?!

He is nowhere near good enough for this club.

We are screaming out for world class strikers, and how the board do not see that is criminal.
Rashford has a lot of potential buu we are now trying to make of him skmething what he is just not. His best games for this club( after his first games under LVG) were on the left

Well that first half was crap . Gomes looks overwhelmed so far . Greenwood and Chong little better .

Tuanzebe looks the part though . We gave really keft ourselves so light in the goalscoring department this season and are going to struggle because of it

They promised us aggressive attacking front foot football, it lasted 2 pre season games since then I just don’t see any style of play at all, we simply cannot break down a team that sits back against us, creativity is lacking in the squad and what exactly is solksjaer’s tactics?

We may end up winning 2 or 3-0 here tonight and the scrappiness is to be expected, these players haven’t played much but it’s the style of play and lack of urgency that worries me.

When I heard Greenwood was playing I though ideal finally we will see him at CF.

But no Solskjaer shoves him out on RW yet again whilst Rashford can’t hit a cow’s ass with an banjo. Maybe if we bought an actual RW this summer we wouldn’t be looking for alternative option on that wing.

Dalot needs to do a lot better with all the space he's got down the right.

I don’t like the positions Gomes keeps taking. The amount of times someone brings the ball out of midfield and he is behind an opposition player, or looking like he wants a through ball. He needs to come looking for the ball a bit more

We need to run at them a bit, too many passes at the moment, all it will take is for one United player to go by a defender and things open up but no one is willing to try. So frustrating.

Astana are playing for a 0-0 draw. They're clogging up the box. I wonder how Ole changes things up second half.
You’ll have to wait until the 75th minute to find out.

Mata and Lingard arent making huge impacts in PL games either.... so that isnt an arguement for not playing someone.

That has been our style of play since Moyes.

This was LVG's football. Possession but toothless in attack. Well i am happy with that. We will score sooner or later. Everything is better than sitting deep and waiting for counter in home game

He is overrated. Doesn't mean he still can't become a top top player but if you listen to some of our fans you would think he is the next best thing since sliced bread.
