Where is Ravel now? Is he playing?
Sheffield UnitedWhere is Ravel now? Is he playing?
It's the familiar pattern. He joins a club, a few stories come out about how gifted and misunderstood he is. A few posters get excited about some sort of renaissance for him, he'll barely play and when he does only shows brief glimpses of his ability and then leaves the club at the end of the season.Where is Ravel now? Is he playing?
He showed his quality at West Ham and QPR but it's been downhill from there. When he was at West Ham he was playing really well for England u21 too but ended up kicking off with his teammate Wilf Zaha on the pitch in one match. Both of those players now play for different countries at international level. He was good when he played for WestHam. For sure he has the talent but you need a lot more than talent to be successful in professional sports.
I think he came as a sub and had a decent game and then disappeared from the squad.
Stop it.(Posted here because better place than Ole thread):-
Ole needs a good CM who can play with Pogba. We have had a series of journeymen like Herrera, Fellini, Matic, McTominay, Fred, Lingard, Mata play with him and he is frustrated because he wants world class players to play with.
Ravel Morrison is playing for a PL club but his peak is far, far better than their standard (Josh King just said he would have been right below Messi/Ronaldo had he not behaved badly). His behavioral issues are better now.
Rather than getting more journeymen like Eriksen (I don’t rate him at the level of Pogba, Keane and Scholes who are MUQ CMs) in why doesn’t Ole not bit Ravel in the winter? He still has a few years that he can shine and an attacking lineup of:-
Martial Rashford/Greenwood Sancho Gomes/Ravel Pogba
would walk the league in terms of talent, would love playing with one another (talent thrives when playing with talent) and unite the fans for the next few years.
They may lose but it is better than watching the current inheritors of the dross of the last 10 years (yes, despite SAF’s genius we stopped being world class when the Glazers came and Cristiano left).

The Ravel Morrison myth is one of the strangest I've come across in this place. 'right below Messi/Ronaldo had he not behaved badly'(Posted here because better place than Ole thread):-

Did you ever hear of this bloke called Jamie Vardy? He's never going to make it at the top level, and by that I mean PL. He's wasted too many years of his career where he should have concentrated on improving, tactically, physically and mentally. He hasn't got a position that teams have space for in their teams. He's not disciplined enough to play in CM.
His best bet is to go the Championship where teams can indulge a player like him and then cut their losses when they reach the Prem i.e. Taarabt. He should have knuckled down at Lazio really instead of messing around as he could have forged a good career there, or even here in his early years.
When you hear hoofbeats, think of horses. Not zebrasDid you ever hear of this bloke called Jamie Vardy?
It is very strange - there is ample proof now that suggests he is not capable/good enough of becoming an even decent level professional footballer. Looking like a world beater in training at the age of 17 or whatever is all very well but if you can't translate that into performances in a match then it's completely meaningless.I will never understand the hype of a player who could never get a string of consistent games at any club in his career, bar a few months at West ham.
Along with his behavior issues it could also be a case of a player who was above the natural standard in the youth setup but once he took the step into the pros he hit his ceiling and could not go higher. He has never done anything as a pro to suggest he was this incredible world class talent.
There are many athletes in different sports who show a lot of talent as a teenager. Their outfield behavior is si bad that it becomes an excuse that follows them rest of their life. The funny thing is the older they get the bigger the myth becomes. In few years ravel will be seen as one of the most talented players ever who sadly got distracted by other things. The Ravel Morrison myth is one of the strangest I've come across in this place. 'right below Messi/Ronaldo had he not behaved badly'
This kind of made my day, seeing Ravel not make it at Swedish outfit Östersund a year ago. Funny post.(Posted here because better place than Ole thread):-

He is mostly an example that the newbie system here should go back to what it once was. Its what made the Caf what it was and made serious posters as yourself from other clubs join and contribute on here.He names Herrera, Fellini, Matic, McTominay, Fred, Lingard, Mata as 'journeymen' - each of whom have proved to be much better than Morrison ever has proved and all have had a much better career than he ever will.
Josh King said it in an interview published today, hence why there is discussion here now.The Ravel Morrison myth is one of the strangest I've come across in this place. 'right below Messi/Ronaldo had he not behaved badly'
Probably that random reserve or youth game many years ago where he outshine everyone on the pitch, including Pogba. He names Herrera, Fellini, Matic, McTominay, Fred, Lingard, Mata as 'journeymen' - each of whom have proved to be much better than Morrison ever has proved and all have had a much better career than he ever will.
I love this line in particular:
'Ravel Morrison is playing for a PL club but his peak is far, far better than their standard'
What peak is that? When he did a fancy flick in training 8 years ago?
That's fair enough but it does just show that the myth actually lives past the confines of this forum out in 'the real world' which is equally strange.Josh King said it in an interview published today, hence why there is discussion here now.

yeah, it's unbelievable. the guy is closer to Freddy Adu than to actual professional footballer at this point, and unlike Ravel, Adu at least had couple of very good international tournaments in his younger days. even Macheda managed to become leading striker for Panathinaikos, even the likes of Diouf, Bebe and Manucho managed to have somewhat decent careers, but you don't see their threads bumped every once in a while. It is very strange - there is ample proof now that suggests he is not capable/good enough of becoming an even decent level professional footballer.
mostly out of the squad so far. he got 10 minutes in one game, but can't remember who it was against, either Chelsea or Leicester. he did start in both of their cup games though. Is he playing or just part of the squad at Sheffield?
12 minutes in the PL, 2 full games in the Carabao cup.Is he playing or just part of the squad at Sheffield?
I would be better than Ronaldo and Messi had I been born with talent, not been a fat cnut for the last 10 years, and had been trained from an early age.The Ravel Morrison myth is one of the strangest I've come across in this place. 'right below Messi/Ronaldo had he not behaved badly'
