Damn it all to hell. Feels like a loss when before the game Id have accepted a draw.

Skys love in for Liverpool is sickening.

Klopp complaining about us setting up to defend. Pathetic. Cant wait until he fecks off to manage someone else. Sooner the better.
Jose taking the piss out of him still in the studio is pretty amusing.

Thought we played well but looked very shaky in the second half once Liverpool remembered how to play. Its a shame that the squad is so threadbare that we have no flexibilty to switch things up besides a straight swap.

Great set-up from Ole in fairness but still massive questions over in game management.

We should not have sat back.

But then again we had no one on the bench that could bring something different.
If we keep playing like that we won’t sit back as the system becomes set.

Scouses got away with a lot and we bossed them for long periods.

Our tactics proved better than theirs - we need greater squad strength to carry it to a permanent capability.

Happy for once especially since Flopp is full of BS - again

It's your opinion, it's not "as it is".

Moaning on here about being defensive, after playing the free flowing league champions, is just ludicrous.
If we do it next up v Norwich, then fair enough.
You still don't reply to the question. Does a curse befall our players who can play upto a standard when it's 0-0 and then suddenly decide they cannot trap a ball or pass to a teammate the moment we end up leading 1-0 at half time?

You think the onus is not on the manager to give these players confidence to keep playing like in the first 45 when we actually controlled the game better and actually mprovei on it. If you feel that's not Ole's job, then no point discussing this further.

There’s a difference between being throwned back and sitting back.

We sat back, there’s no doubt about that. Thats a weak small team mentality, I dont care if Liverpool are the better team.

Sitting down so deep in Old Trafford is a freaking embarrassment, Ole should get fired alone for that. So much about the mentality, the ManUtd way, knowing what the club is about and all those empty phrases and he just shit his pants against Liverpool.
Firstly we had no business going into the season with the squad we have.
Yes. We should not have sat back.
But their goal was a silly mistake by us which is what is annoying.

Really proud of the team today. They played their guts out. Great intensity for most of the match but just ran out of legs in the end. Thought Ole got it right for most of the match except I would of taken Pereira off ten minutes earlier he just hasn't got 90 in him. If we can get over this injury crisis I am confident the only way is up.

Liverpool is the best team in football last season and most in form team in football this season.

I get that losing the victory 5 minutes before full time sucks, but come on, lets be realistic here and appreciate a good result against a crazy good team.

Again, I don't see how anyone can accuse these players of a lack of effort. Their effort and application got us a point today. The lack of quality is painfully evident but we outfought Liverpool for most of the match.

We were a bit lucky with the VAR thing though, can't believe some people are saying it wasn't a foul  we'd be incensed if that was not given against us. Heart was in mouth for the VAR check against Fred at the end :nervous:

Gutted. We nearly pulled off the shock of the season there. We live to fight another day. Nothing changed really, we're still where we are. But sometimes spirit beats logic, and we had spirit in abundance today. Proud of the boys and the coaches. They may be limited but they didn't let United down today.

To be fair, I thought we were the better team for the bulk of that match. We defended stoutly and for once, the players seemed to actually give a shit. Quite a bit of fight on display today. I'd have bitten your hand off for a draw but it's a really gutting way to drop two points, such a soft, shite goal to concede.

Let's see how the players respond fort he next game. I'll be livid if it's another Newcastle-esque performance after turning in a shift like that today.

Liverpool were very poor today, too.

Ever heard the phrase "Game of 2 halves"?
That's why we love football, a mere 15min break can totally change the direction of the match. They got nearer their level, we had to give a fair bit to work hard and dropped much of a threat.

We'd not been much of an attacking threat first half anyway, so it wasn't a huge drop off.

It was a good attempt overall, when most thought we'd be battered!

It's a point. Should we be celebrating home draws now?
We’ve always been happy with a draw against Liverpool, even when we were top dogs of the league.
They were on a 17 or so game winning streak and we’re in awful form, did you expect us to go and smash them?

I’m happy with the point today. Disappointing we conceded late on but we gave everything all match.

Terrible way to draw a game.

Next game is the real test now.
When teams start dropping deep against us,we will inevitably continue to find it tough to break teams down....Those problems won’t go away....

Rashford: We deserved the three points
Marscus Rashford says United should have taken all three points from the game.

He told Sky Sports:

“We deserved the three points. I don’t think they were good enough to get a draw out of the game or a win but this is football.

“It was a big opportunity missed and we just fell short. Hopefully in mid-week we can get a win and it will start a run for us.”

Mourinho: Ole should be proud but frustrated
Jose Mourinho has praised United’s gameplan today.

He told Sky Sports:

“Liverpool did something in the last 20 minutes of the game to give Man Utd problems - they got more people through the middle, more people in the box - but I think Ole and United, after such a great effort, will feel a bit disappointed.

“At the start of the game I was asking United for heart. They had it but they had more than that. They were organised, they had a gameplan that they stuck to.

“But (Souness) asked before the game if they could keep the defensive intensity for 90 minutes and they couldn’t. Liverpool were on top at the end. The result is probably fair but if I were Ole I’d be proud but also frustrated.”

I don’t care if we had won or lost the game, the result doesn’t justify the way you get it.

Its embarrassing assuming the scared boy posture at home. This shouldn’t even be an option, allowing ourselves to play that way just harm us. Its accepting you’re not good enough and you cant compete, loser mentality shouldn’t be allowed here no matter what.

I expected the team to keep up what they did in the first half - have some feckin intent. But Ole sent them out to defend in the second half and he didn't make any substitutions till after the 80th min. James was playing as a striker for some periods in this game when we had Martial and especially Greenwood on the bench. This is amateur-level management.
James and rashford hounded and pressed like feck from the front. Martial wouldn’t and didn’t do this, Greenwood, maybe would have.
I can’t fault how ole set up and have us play today, calling it amateur level management either shows you don’t know what you’re on about or you just like being dramatic

All those cliches - just to defend an absolutely shite show in the second half.

Frankly, a game of two halves does happen when the other team raises the performance. We just decided to absolutely bring down ours. In all honesty, this just reinforces one thought for me - Ole is a coward as a manager. All that talk about playing with freedom and such was just that - talk. When it comes to implementing he doesn't have the first clue how to go about doing it.

Rojo was out to sea on the goal, how he let that ball go through is beyond me

A real shame that we would've stolen this game if not for that garbage

The Liverpool subs weren't world class but offered them depth.

We bought on a teenage fullback.

Where is our squad?

It really isn't a foul. Touching a player doesn't constitute a foul. The contact isn't nearly significant enough to effect him, other than for him to decide to dive because he had already lost possession of the ball.

That was a good result all things considered. We should have won but a brain fart by rojo in wandering off and losing lallana cost us. Got to say though ole got his tactics spot on for this game. Oh well let us hope this result is something we build on.

Just move on, if you can't take any satisfaction from today in the context of our season, maybe football isn't for you.

Sending out James and Rashford to press like headless chickens - when the rest of the team is backing off - is exactly the problem. It's not called a tactical plan. How many times did their back line experience any real pressure in the game? It IS amateur level tactics.

Thought Ole set up the team the best he could. I predicted a 1-1 but we could've just got the win.

Hopefully we can pull together and get some decent points to Norwich and Bournemouth away. Always felt it wouldn't be a cricket score today, it's other games I 'm worried about.

He's given himself half a chance.

We obviously need to see a lot more attack in "lesser" games to develop this now.

We halted LFC's winning streak, which is a positive.
Many teams have lost to LFC, we didn't - a positive.
The players did well today - another positive.
Not much else to say.
Pretty much how I feel about today as well. I would have snapped your hand off for a draw coming into it, especially once I saw that Rojo and Young were making up the left side of our defense. While drawing after being in the lead pretty much never feels like drawing after being down, there are still a lot of positives to be had from that game.
