Jose Mourinho | Spurs manager

At every club he's been at since 2002, Mourinho has won trophies. Will he win one at Spurs?

He has bags under his eyes after 2 days at the job. Like his been test piloting CIA's sleep deprivation program. By the time Spurs play United he'll be a zombie at this rate.

This is a winner - I miss having a winner as a manager.

He had soooo much more in common with Fergie than most Utd fans care to admit.
Maybe so, but Jose only wins for himself in the end. Fergie gave it all for our club & it's players, throwing himself under the bus on many occasions to protect it/them.

It's like with the 'siege mentality' that they both adopted at times. Fergie's in there with the whole club behind him, while Jose is all on his lonesome, Jose V TheWorld.

That's the key difference for me, and why he'll never have a patch on Fergie.

Said all the right things, but most new managers do. Certainly expected no less from him.

Good Luck to Jose and his family. I might buy a Spurs shirt for my Lover to make love to me on a Wednesday

It wasn’t going to work and it was time for him to go at that point.

I definitely hold him responsible to a significant extent.
He has to share responsibilities, but people are exaggerating way too much the impact a manager has on the club's success. And this also applies to Klopp and Pep.

That squishy guy deserves Mourinho's boring ass Football, for disrespecting my country before the Rugby World Cup final. Feel sorry for other Spurs fans though, they are quite a likeable bunch.

That’s an odd statement to make especially on ManUtd forum when everyone saw how much we have fallen since the GOAT retirement.

How so ?

Klopp has been a vital part of forming the team and the culture, their league form for the past 1,5 season is mental. 8 draws, 1 loss 42 wins. 82,35% win rate. The top level and consistency that City and Liverpool are showing under Pep and Klopp is extremely high.

It's simpler than it looks, but at the same time the layers of the problems make it a complex thing from a logistic and human POV.

The best tactic is to have quality players: without quality players not even a DNA mix between Sacchi + Klopp + Guardiola & Mourinho will save your team.

The club must have a clear line to follow from top to bottom. This means the club will always provide their staff the best conditions to deliver their work, either is new players, training technology innovations, etc.

Power balance: the club needs to set this very clearly. If the power positions are not clearly set, anarchy will install.

In the end of the day the blame must be shared because everyone could had done better, but

Klopp also had a massive meltdown at Dortmund after 3 very solid seasons. If he had that much influence and power, he would be able to keep building the team ad eternum.

Rewind thew time and you had entire forums making fun of Klopp being unable to lift Liverpool and how lucky we were. 1 year ago nobody would consider Klopp better than Pep, not to mention way before.

They got the quality players right, with the right type of personality to fit in the mold and things go smooth for now.

Everyone here keeps saying, I'll give it two seasons over and over in a loop.

What I wouldn't give for one season of success at this point.

The way I see it, he has to swallow his pride and change his football. That is what sets him apart from Sir Alex. Ferguson changed and adapted, Mourinho is stubborn.

If he continues to be hell bent on winning by playing passively /trying to prove his "philosophy" can work, then he'll fail miserably again. I think he hates Guardiola's success and influence and will never adopt similar tactics.

It’s not coincidence that best managers always end up at top and wins trophies. Signing players, making best use of players, Tactical set up is all part of management.

No one wins with shit players and great managers don’t end up with shit squad.

Jose Mourinho on his first team-talk:

"I told the players I came here because of them. I tried to buy some for different clubs and some I didn’t even try because you know how difficult it was."

Interesting this one, is this Kane?
Kane, yes.
But also we were after a Spurs' centre back (probably Toby A), last season. Woodward said, "no" and that our CBs were as good. Woodward also said the same about Maguire (ie. that our CBs were just as good and would later do a 180, get rid of Smalling and buy Maguire).
We then played Spurs at OT, with all CBs on display and our CBs were absolute dog-shite. Everytime Spurs attacked, they got a shot off on goal.
Our attack that day, wasn't bad, though.

Obertans #1 fan.
I went into work today and saw the resident spurs fan. His face looked like thunder. You do forget sometimes how lucky we are as United fans, he was genuinely gutted.

An organized club cannot let the manager decide the squad engeneering. Off course, they won't impose them players they won't accept, but they won't accept players they don't think it will be there in long term, otherwise everytime a club switches the manager it would be chaotic.

But as I said in a post above, Klopp himself had his own meltdown after solid seasons at Dortmund. Everybody has their weaknesses.

But in case of Mourinho I think is more a lack of refresh problem and I think hiring João Scaramento and Nuno Santos into his staff looks an atempt to get more modern, if he allows them freedom to implement their methods.

Not sure how Klopp last season at Dortmund is relevant, I don’t know how anyone can even argue managers are not the important part unless they want to argue in extremes like “will Pep win PL with Norwich”.

Mourinho has been praising Scott McTominay and now he's talking up his relationship with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, who he says he exchanges SMS messages with. Get Whatsapp, Jose.
Can you imagine the uproar if he tries to sign McTominay.

Love him or hate him, football's better with José Mourinho managing a team. So easy to feel his passion for the game, could listen to him talking about football for hours.

Whilst true it is still harsh, given that the first year started off very well. Even Rojo was playing great. Then he and ibra got injured towards the end of the season and the wheels fell apart, both from Jose and us.

Matic was very good in the first season
So was Bailly
Mikhi was good
Ibra was good
Pogba obviously was good

That first season felt like we had the opportunity to really push on, but Ibra got injured and we had to sign Lukaku who was never really a good fit, and things carcrashed pretty quickly after (a lot of it down to Jose).
Weren't we 6th for like ever during that campaign? We went went on a bunch of winning runs and our league position didn't change at all. The only saving grace was winning Europa, allowing us a backdoor into the CL.

Really enjoyed his first press conference, he is saying all the right things and it's very encouraging. I have high hopes.

I don't see anything in common with Fergie other than a desire to win trophies. Completely different personality, talks about himself alot. Great manager in his own way.
