Such an ignorance and idiotic comment. Please do yourself a favour. Travel the world and see the world before you spout such nonsense.
Yeah whats happening in hong kong, tibet, western china where there are literally hundreds of thousands if not millions of muslims being rounded up into caps and "educated". Sounds mint.

I'm totally against being sponsored by Chinese owned companies. I prefer Western companies who own sweat shops in the East and all that jazz. Apple and Nike could join hands with us and all.

I have no problem with United being sponsored by a Chinese company. There is plenty to say for it actually being positive from a global perspective that brands like United are visible in countries that lack basic democracy and freedoms.
What cant happen is what happened with the NBA/Houston Rockets, where one gets to dependent on it and has to bow down in case of a conflict of basic rights such as in that case: freedom of speech. So it has to be managed carefully.
Another thing completely is ownership, which is fundamentally different from sponsorships.
When it comes to the latter I would never accept a state-owned United. If its the Saudis, China or even Donald fecking Trump does not matter. I am chocked that so many people on here seem to be warming to the idea of the Saudis for example.

Get off your high horse. Just so that u know, American government is no better than Chinese government. Meddling and killing millions in middle east.

Just keep to the topic of shirt sponsorship. Go other thread if u want to talk about politics.
The feck you on about? I don’t give a feck if this company sponsors us. In fact I welcome it because the Chevy logo is shit. I’m very well aware of the US government’s bs so think twice before you assume anything.

Well by that logic Chevrolet take government contracts in the US and they US drone people all the time.
I think Chevrolet is more far removed from the government than Haier is for China but other than that, I don’t disagree with you. There’s already plenty of dirty money around our club when you break it all down.

The idea that people can't determine the difference between a business operating within a country of dubious morals, and an actual state or country of dubious morals is baffling. Haier make fridges and vacuum cleaners - Saudi Arabia butcher journalists and dissolve their bodies in acid.

This isn't that difficult.

I used to really care about our finances, but not interested in this sort of stuff anymore,

£70 million, £700 million, it's all the same, we just have the wrong people making the decisions, and spending the money at the club, so balls to them, and more fool 'Haier'.

Just about sums up my feeling about this. Worst case scenario we ll just get a Taiwan, Tibet or Hong Kong based sleeve sponsor to feck with Haier.

Well done, Ed. Can't wait to win bragging rights over our sponsorships deals with the scousers. Who cares about winning titles when we can get sponsorship deals like this! Bravo.

I think the sponsorship money will be heading to Leicester City if our recruitment strategy is anything to go by.

Just about every electronic device we own has some feckin component that’s made in China. You can hardly fart nowadays without being tainted by the Chinese. And that’s even before ordering the take away. Actually, most Chinese I know are decent & kind people so it’s unfair & silly to tar all things Chinese or 1.4 billion Chinese with the same brush. You can hardly blame Haier for reconditioning camps in Xinjiang. What would be more morally challenging imo if we were owned by people or organizations who are directly involved with human right abuses (just like the ones at Citeh :wenger:) At least with the Glazers you know they’re not going to chop you up and smuggle you out of the country in a suitcase.

Given that no other club has signed a bigger deal in the 5 years since the Chevy one, and now this is apparently another uplift, I’m not sure your logic is stacking up here.
Given that I was not comparing us to other clubs, my point very much stands. 10 years later and we've got an increase of <10%. That's less than inflation in my book and, again, given how much salaries and fees costs have grown over the years, this is not keeping up.

For a fair comparison, I'd look at our 'lead' to other clubs with these deals to see why I think I've made a valid point.

This is all without taking into account other less 'fortunate' clubs with lower sponsorship deals are playing in the CL and easily making up for these differences. That in turn generates awareness and could allow them to push for better deals. We are not in the CL and, if anything, our relative attraction is likely to decline further given the incompetence of our current management.

You dont think that those two things: winning titles and securing big sponsorship deals might be very closely connected?

Do you? We've signed two of our biggest deals in Adidas and Chevrolet within the past 7-8 years, what titles have we won?

Exactly this. It used to matter, being the best at everything, getting the best deals, going for the best players, youths etc
Now it doesn't matter since we don't seem to have any direction.

Wtf, no they’re not at all. We’ve won feck all worth shouting about over the last 5/6 years but we’ve broken many sponsorship records.

It won't keep going though if we don't start winning again, football is dire at times too and will effect the fan bases of some markets.

I see the morality police are back in force whilst most of the electrical products in their house is likely made in China.

We’re still a massive brand with the most supporters in world football. You sign up in a partnership with United your brand will reach hundreds of thousands across the globe every week. That won’t change for as long as we’re in the premier league, especially with the way the game is going. feck, Crystal Palace or West Ham will probably be at the commercial level we’re at now in 10 years time
