Bloody hell how can anyone be full of such bile that they wish such ill on those who disagree with their point of view. May I repectfully suggest that you do indeed move to the USA as I am sure that those of us that remain would be much better off. We don’t need those either right or left who hold such vicious ideas.
Its way past pile, its complete delusion, I really dont know what world some people live in.

Well I do, its why we are where we are.

All the immigration since the 00s has definitely put pressure on the NHS. Whether or not the Exchequer gets more money, that's a lagged effect when the impact on services is immediate.

However, the NHS is not where the impact has been most felt. The most pressing negative effect of mass immigration has been the housing crisis.
“Definitely has put pressure” fiskey? Based on what evidence? ALL of the evidence says our EU migrants have eased the pressure.

Unless you’re saying all 1.8m or so from the EU all turned up in the same year and all started needing hospital care from the off?

The don’t, they prop up the NHS and should have allowed the government to spend more money there.

So now you’ve moved onto housing, another Tory feck up more than anything with their right to buy bollocks.

All this talk of Scotland becoming independent and nobody seems to be copping the fact that if the UK leaves the EU then there will be a big fat border between England and Scotland too.

If you’ve no idea, why pipe in?

The vast majority of migration to the UK is from the EU and....

European citizens make a net contribution of £2,300 more than the average UK resident. Their total net contribution was £4.7 billion in 2016/2017.

So you’ve no idea and you’re talking out of your arse @Full bodied red

That figure applies for the first generation and the first generation only.

Its the subsequent generations after that results in a net loss per head and leads to a higher drain on public services due to the fact their birth rate being substantially higher than the natives.

But you know that because you are not just quoting the headlines off the first post you found of google.

Oh, wait.

I think that would depend on whether Scotland was in the EU or not. We'll leave the EU before Scotland is independent, once Scotland is independent they would need to apply for EU membership. A hard border wouldn't need to be erected if England and Scotland reach an agreement about how it would work. If Scotland does become a EU nation which would take years then the border situation would need to be agreed between Scotland, England and The EU.

The border situation also depends on what type of deal the UK reaches with the EU.

As I say this seems ideological for you, so you keep conflating arguments. I think we've discussed the NHS point enough.

Housing has been a massive feck up and both parties are to blame. My point is before you encourage net immigration of 1/4 million/year you need to have somewhere they can live. It's not something you can do afterwards, it has to be done before or else you get a housing crisis.

Brown quite famously was much further to the left than Blair and didn’t always see eye to eye with Blair, Campbell and Mandelson.

Seriously is this really news to you?
Brown hated the SNP because they were "tartan Tories" is what I have heard. And, yes genuinely, I have a reliable source for that.

Sorry what now? Birth rate of EU citizens is substantially higher than the EU? And their offspring drain the system rather than pay into it?

Wtf @Ducklegs ?

Oooh....Listen to her !!

Touchy today, are we ?? Understandable, of course.

And for the record I know perfectly well what I'm talking about even if you haven't the foggiest, feckin' idea about immigration and tax in France.

This is said a lot but when you look at Brown's actual time in power he was the chancellor who deregulated the banks and let the financial sector run riot. He may have had more leftist instincts but as far as his record was concerned he very much bought into Blair's project - for Labour's first term they didn't even alter Tory economic policy a ridiculous amount.

We have plenty of houses in the UK, plenty of places for people to live. The crises is the cost of banks giving bigger mortgages, us being prepared to pay more, families having 2 jobs, and the Tory’s selling all council stock.

There’s a way to stop the “crises” but it’ll also stop growth.

Oh yeah, I'm a hill walker, day or night, I could smuggle stuff across for extra cash. Actually I'm a walk leader, I could lead strings of immigrants through the hills, from one side to the other. In each direction probably.

We can stick a wall on that one though. No GFA to get around. In fact we could just upgrade the existing one.

I get it now, they were all Tories really. Sorry Pex.

Seriously though, Brown's big thing for me was pushing public spending as far as he thought the economy could take, and in particular using means testing with things like tax credits and education allowance to get that spending to those most in need. As Blair's chancellor of course. No one really likes means testing but I could see his point.

That won't matter that much to the UK but it will to Scotland given they are massively reliant on trade with the internal UK market. The jobs and industries that can will relocate into the UK creating hundreds of thousands of jobs. There will be some industries that will impact the UK like the timber industry that supplies a lot of the timber for construction here but it will be a massive economic impact on Scotland mostly.

I’m touchy, but not for the reason you think.

I’ve lived in Sweden for the last 12 years so who governs the UK matters rather little to me these days.

What I hate is the UK blaming problems on EU migrants, in Sweden we took 400,000 refugees during the Syria crises and that is a group to argue about being a drain. So many that don’t speak the language, so many uneducated that have to be funded by the state.
Thing is, Sweden felt they had no choice but to take so many and “do the right thing” because countries like the UK took in an embarrassing 10,000 or so.
EU migration is rarely a drain and certainly hasn’t been in the UK.

I'm not denying Brown was responsible for a lot of public investment - just the idea he's to the left of Blair to a significant extent sometimes comes across to me as a bit of a myth, since Blair seemed quite posh and Brown was the gruff Scottish guy.

That's presuming those industries want to relocate. Depending on how independence goes and how Brexit goes they may not see a need to.

Yeah, it's one of the main reasons I can't see Scotland voting to leave now. It would also be even more mad than it would have been 5 years ago.

I got shouted at for entering Housesteads without paying. 'And where's your car?'. I walked here from Newcastle mate, and now I'm walking out again. Bye. I'll have the fecking immigrants with me next time.

And look what's happening in Sweden. The social cohesion that has made the country one of the envies of the world is breaking in front of our eyes.

Seen some short questioning with voters in Leigh and other historic labour areas that switched. They say with full conviction it was about brexit. Makes you wonder did the labour party conduct any internal polling and if so why did they agree to this election. Should have just let Johnson keep hitting a brick wall and wait out to see what the tory brexit would be like ahead of 2022.
That’s would have been best for the country is it? Herelies the problem. Let’s feck the country over just to help ourselves.

It’a not breaking, not at all, don’t be so fooled, yeah, we have issues and mass migration of nonEU’s is a massive strain, but it’s still an incredible place to live.

That’s my whole point though, it’s like a comedy sketch hearing UK people moan about the strain mass EU migration of hard working, English speaking, young tax payers making large net contributions has on the country and public services.

No, you have the best type of immigration already ffs.

It’s hard for people to not feel hate when they see highly privileged people making deliberate policy decisions that result in the needless deaths of tens of thousands of the most vulnerable people in society.

Suggesting people calm down and discuss things as if both sides are morally equal is unlikely to dispel that hate.
Can you prove this?

Also Corbyn lost, so no more need for Momentum propaganda!

This might be good for you. The Tories are no longer the party of the elite who can ignore the middle and poor. They'll want to keep their votes.

I don't care though because Scotland will be independent soon and we'll all get free unicorns.
Johnson said as much in his acceptance speech.

If they want to stay in power, they will have to look after their new found supporters.
