The Opta stats means since the start of LAST season, which means they include all the mistakes De Gea was making left, right centre towards the end of LAST season. Opta's probably being kind because I thought that must have been more than 6...

De Gea is a cnut

Gets a legend tag for being a good shot stopper

He’s weak in every other regard and steals 400k a week for the privilege

Wish he had fecked off to RM those years ago

Best paid player in the fecking league, we've done it again!.

He's becoming a joke now.

We're fecked with him.

If he doesn't have that weakness, Arsenal never take that corner routine. Teams are focusing on his many flaws.

We can add him to the Rooney and Sanchez club of awful overpaid and lengthy contracts. We never learn.

Yes he needs to leave this club, but only because he is getting slated even though he has earned so much credit over the years, leave the club David where you will actually be appreciated, you deserve better than this toxic fanbase.

You wish he fecked off in 2015 for £20m? When he was still comfortably the best keeper in the world til 2018... Erm, ok mate...

I agree that he's gone to shit and it's a decline rather than just bad form, but lets not start acting like he wasn't unreal for us for several years.

I can't stand parts of our fanbase. Arrogant and smug when we're winning, toxic and classless when we're losing.

Done for me, we've got a problem the size of Sanchez with this lad now.

God knows what we are going to do as I feel we're better going with Henderson from next season.

He is certainly right about lack of quality

Useless, equivalent to having a player sent off....Lingard, Matic, Young, Jones, Sanchez, Chong
So rarely useful it's the equivalent of less than half a player....Mata, Periera
Not good enough on a consistent basis...
Lindelof, Rojo, Smalling
Lack of consistent class in engine room...Fred, McTom (the latter is the closest on consistency, but rarely offers that killer pass)
Star cost, but not offering consistent quality..Pogba, Maguire

That's a lot of players that either need to go or need to do more!

In fairness to De Gea, he saw the second goal late as it went past two(?) defenders before it got to him, he made a reaction save that then bounced off Lindelof who was doing literally nothing. Hardly his worst error, nor was he the main culprit for the goal.

It's not like it was a corner straight on top of him that he floundered under. It was a low, near-post corner that snuck its way pass our inept defence and forced him into a snap, close-range save.

His skewed clearance before that was much worse, imo.

Rewarded with a long term 350k a week deal after costing us top 4 last season after making mistakes for 2 months straight. Such a stupid sentimental decision.

He was piss poor all game long. His passiveness on corners and crosses is hilarious, must be the most afraid GK in pro football in that regard. There is a cross literally 2 meters in front of goal coming in and he lets everything past him. He is planted to his goal line like life depends on it

Nearly cost us a goal with that garbage pass but not sure how anyone is faulting him for the goal.

Obviously. We have only a handful of Manchester United quality players. De Gea isn't one either.
Called it. Been calling it for about a year now.

I'm not gonna slag him, he's a legend and a contender for best GK we've ever had.

He's done though,.
He is certainly not a contender for that. Best shot stopper maybe but not overall keeper no way. His command of his box is a major flaw

This has been going on for years trust me, he may as well not be there when a cross comes in.
I'm actually just relieved people are starting to notice.
Only problem is that it's too late now, we've already handed out that hideous contract.

Wow, the vitriol in this thread is something else. The guy has been one of the best goalkeepers in the world for years, he has been loyal and stayed for several seasons when he was obviously way too good for us, yet he never mouthed off in the press, even after the whole fax farce. And we feel this kind of abuse is warranted because he has fallen below his incredibly high standards for some time while having the nerve to say yes to a lucrative contract?

Turning a blind eye to a player constantly making the same mistakes over and over again doesn't make you a better supporter than someone who thinks we should at least try and remedy the situation.

We can agree to disagree about how good he has been (I personally think this notion of him being our saviour for the past decade is the biggest myth in football) but we need to focus on the present and the future.
Name one other example in the history of the game where an 18 month spell of shocking form gets labelled as a 'blip'?
What's worse is we've even rewarded the player with a payrise and a long contract.
Then some fans are still puzzled as to why we're becoming a laughing stock.

We've heard literally every excuse under the sun now being used to cover up De Gea's frankly embarrassing form.
We've also tried everything, new defenders, new coaches, new contract etc... and our defence is still shocking.
The only thing we haven't tried is giving a new keeper a chance, I genuinely think that's the answer, that's just my opinion but even those who disagree must surely be at least curious now to see how it would go, why not? We've nothing to lose now.

I'm not saying it's a blip, I'm not saying it was the right decision to make him the highest paid player in the league. All I'm saying is he doesn't deserve the hostility shown in this thread.

Keepers play well on instinct and the instinct works when the morale is high. I am not surprised that David is having a nightmare. With that in front of him and pulling save after save, it is not possible to keep his morale high. There is a limit to everything.
People are now blaming him for passing out from the back. This passing out from the back has been a disaster and I am sure he is following instructions but it is the height of stupidity to do that all the time. He passes to Maguire in the box who passes it to Fred and who passes it to Rashford or Martial who loses it and the ball is back in our box and we under attack once more. This is not what it mean playing from the back.

If ever anyone needed a reminder of the shuddering fickle nature of people who watch our games...

One guy above said he's "done".

Just ridiculous.

Some of the comments about De Gea here suggest, as we all knew, that really being a football fan is often about impotent people spewing bile to try and make themselves feel better. Unfortunately, that won't be the end result.

Currently the worst goalkeeper in the league
And again....

The thing is, they are not just “mistakes”, they are absolute howlers. Pickford’s was a “mistake”...De Gea might as well of slung it in his own goal

Don’t even get me started on his “efforts” at set pieces
