Couldn't happen to a nicer club. I hope they get PSG next. States have no business owning football clubs.

There seems to be a bit of a consensus here that city will appeal and have it completely overturned. Do people think the CAS is some corrupt system or something? Is is beyond any shred of doubt that city cheated, they HAVE to be punished. There’s no way they don’t get at the very least one seasons CL ban out of this.

UEFA say they overstated their sponsorship revenue in their accounts between 2012 and 2016.
Well they made it all too obvious in fairness, gave zero fecks about coming out with all sorts of daft sponsorship figures to show what a massive club they were.

I’d love to one day know just how much the likes of Pep, Aguero and KdB are really getting paid.

Maybe. Though it would be odd for them to overturn a precedent-setting punishment against one of the world’s biggest/most known clubs. Think UEFA is looking to make a statement, and they wouldn’t want that to be diluted in any way.
It would be CAS dealing with the appeal, not UEFA.

Sorry to sound like a spoilsport, but how many honestly think this will just get overturned and forgotten about at appeal?

This is still the massive elephant in the room for me with that shady club. I'd love to know the real wages.

I see this as an "opening offer" type thing, personally. I know that's a weird way of wording it, but it's just a loose analogy. UEFA come in hard, City respond by appealing, UEFA then reduce it to 1 season instead. That's how i see it going.

The ban will stand up in court, maybe reduced to one year on appeal. City aren’t the first side to be banned from Europe recently, been a few cases. It’s not a test case, there’s precedent so can’t see how City will win in court. Ac Milan were banned recently, city are just the first top team to be banned.
That’s encouraging. Did AC appeal and get any kind of reduction?

José Narciso da Cunha Rodrigues was presiding the panel, he's a European court of Justice judge, very respected legal mind, he won't come to the CAS empty handed. City can be worried.

PSG inflated their revenues with a contract but a least it was in plain sight. The contract was re-assed (and ultimately almost abandonned since Accor is now our main sponsor), we were sanctionned and forced to find other revenues (which is a very good thing, thank you FPF for pushing us in that direction, we can now survive without Qatar money) and cooperated with UEFA in the process. City decided to do worst by creating shell companies to hide that, then prevented UEFA from properly investigating. Too bad for them, now the hammer falls.

Means 5th place becomes a CL spot, doesn't it? In theory, at least.

Probably paid in expensive paintings somehow.

I find it strange too, that they can somehow get very good players but at a max cost of 40-60m while others pay through the nose

Am I right in thinking City have never denied it? Their defence being they've already paid a fine for it in 2016 (despite additional information coming to light since) and that this all started off the back of a supposed illicit WikiLeak?
