Even though you want to win every game 4-0, this is still advantage United.

With a congested fixture list this was the right time to rest some players. I accept the occational poor performance from Willams and Dalot, but it's clear to see that Andreas and "Messe" are well below second string quality. The first touch, passing and lack of physicality and concentration is just pathetic. Lost the ball almost 30 times combined. And not because of through balls or anything like that. Terrible terrible performances.

I think Maguire, Shaw and Martial did well again today. And what an impact Fernandes had. Nice to see some attacking intent.

Could you imagine us in the champions league? We would have been spanked if we put on a similar performance. Anyway, we got the crucial away goal. No way Brugge beat us at old Trafford. Would have enjoyed a good performance and a win instead, but I need to set my expectations lower under this management

I just loled at work. How anyone would expect such things from Ole is beyond me!
Listen. What I say is factual. The surface was abysmal and was holding standing water in places. It wasn't the type of pitch to play out from the back which is what we try and do. No surprises that both goals come from the ball being in the air and being allowed to bounce. Uneven surface, poor weather, boggy pitch.

It was right to rest players. Playing without tactics and fielding Lingard, Mata and Pereira instead of youth wasn't. Garner and Gomes would've looked like Kroos and Modric in comparison to that dross.

What youth pray would you have put in?

Heard in commentary that we have 7 matches in 21 days starting with the Chelsea game, so rotation was/is going to be necessary.

Was a shit performance overall and for the life of me can't figure out why we didn't take Williams off and just switch to 4 in the back. He was just having a nightmare of a game. Neither him or Dalot were doing anything going forward, they weren't really needed in defense. Lingard and Mata were nowhere near the attacking areas it seemed for majority of the time.

There is no coaching at all. We seem like a Sunday pub team with the players going where the ball is. This was the pattern especially in the first half. Why couldn't Ole get one player, even Lingard drop into the centre circle? That is where we had no one at all. Mata, I understand needed to be close to Martial. But Lingard was the most useless and at least he could have been in the centre if only to stop them using that space. Yes Martial created a goal out of their mistake but we did not create much. Ole has no clue about space in football. All he knows is counter attacking football when there is already space. He doesn't know how to create space.

That was fine. Only started to take it seriously in the last 15 mins with Fred and Fernandes coming on. Can't blame Ole for trying to sneak a win while resting a few.

We did not learn anything we don't know tonight. We have a handful of players who can elevate us above the level of the bulk of our squad. Take those players out and we fall fast and hard to the standard of a top half Premier League team. Given the packed schedule, escaping Belgium with an away goal is probably a good result. No way to judge this result before the Watford game. Win and the rotation was worth it. Lose...

Heard the same with Mourinho. It's not the manager. Sometimes its as simple as it looks. There are players that play for us that are not good enough be in the premier league.

This 7 in 21 mantra has been done to death already.

Tie could have been all but wrapped up with a moderately more intelligent team selection. And then we could have rested more players more easily in the return fixture.

Ole once again showed the only thing he can reliably do as a manager is torpedo his teams momentum every time we get any.

Not the worst result, but not good either. Awful first half in which we couldn't pass and gifted them a goal. Thankfully they also gifted us one in return, though Martial still had a bit to do and did it well.

Second half wasn't much better for the majority but we did look a lot more convincing in the last 15 mins. No coincidence that Fred and Fernandes were on for that I would think

We didn't look like creating a chance, barring the poor mistake from them (and good work from Martial to capitalise), until Bruno came on. But as first legs away from home go it wasn't too bad. I was surprised to see Fred being rotated while Matic played 90 minutes, let's see what happens at the weekend.

Terrible for the first half an hour but picked up a fair bit after the goal and stepped it up a gear when Fernandes came on. Not a bad result with changes.

Please contrast wing-back positioning and general system with that of Leipzig last night. Nkunku and Angelino were high and wide enough to be almost level with the forwards. Now that's how you use a wing-back system to pin an opposition back. Whenever we play wing-back they're never high enough to be effective for the long pass. How many times did the Leipzig guys play long diagonals to wing-back's in lots of space? How often do you see a single diagonal ball to our wing-back's?

It's pitiful seeing how poor we are tactically.

You think that would be our CL lineup?

Except for the ones I mentioned I'm sure Levitt would've looked better.

Playing better with gomes and Garner is just speculation on your part.
If they truly are worse than Lingard/Mata/Pereira then they should be moved to Grimsby Town rather than play for our reserves. Or they should've gone on loan already. Madness how Ole refuses to give them experience.

Tactical team selection, tactical result. Nothing to moan about here. We're in the drivers seat at Old Trafford.

Maguires worst game in a Manchester United jersey.

Our lineup may have been different but our tactics will be similar as it is what we have been seeing the entire season. Those players are good enough to put in a good performance. Look at Leipzig vs Spurs yesterday. Good philosophy = good football. We deserve better football and even our team not at full strength should be able to put that in against Brugge

In a game in Europe you'd rather throw in youngsters on a whim than play experienced players, the use the logic that they should be shipped out on loan if they weren't going to be played.

Brilliant logic..I applaud you sir!

There are so many examples of the space creation that are happening, but not being exploited properly... but ok, I am tired. Only results matter so we have to focus and now win the game against Watford to have a good week.

But when you have decided to look at things objectively, go check the games and see how we create space by trying to break the shape of the other teams. Go on, it's visible.

I'll even help you. Chelsea game, the last one. Check how Martial is moving, and how Bruno and James are moving, and the positions of the wing backs, and then Fred and Matic, in that order. See when one happen, how the others react.

The period in between Martial coming off and Bruno coming on was absoultely brutal and frightening in how low quality we were in attacking positions.

Lingard, Pereira, Mata a very rusty Ighalo up front and Dalot and Williams both having awful games as the wingbacks pushing forward. Just dreadful.

Shite team to start. Lingard and Perreira I’m just not getting with every passing game. Obviously not the worst result and when Bruno came on , I felt he really made a difference, he’s a real positive and again I really wanted Ole to change something sooner, for me he just waits too long to make changes and it’s frustrating.

Still, 4 undefeated, really need a positive from Saturday.

Well this sunday pub team with no coaching has beat City twice this year, beat Chelsea 3 times, is the only team to take points of Kloop in the league this year. Also the 'non-coach' Ole slapped Poch everytime he faced him, with a worse squad.

We have 7 games in 21 days, we have players not robots. Cant play our best team every week. Rested important players for the weekend, away goal advantage for the next game, only 3 points of top 4 after a tough start to the season with a weak squad and lots of injuries.

Keep calm, still lots to fight for, these kneejerk reactions help no one. It is going to be a long road back to the top, but we are seeing good signs under Ole, just needs backed in the summer. Another sacking and rebuild will set us back even further.

We're piss poor team to watch. As bad as it was under LvG, Jose or Moyes.
Arguably the level of play was bad already on Fergie's last four seasons ( 09-10,10-11, 11-12 and 12-13) but what happened after that was nothing short of shocking and disturbing.

I think Ole is below Jose and LVG in quality and is of the same level or worse than Moyes.

When I saw the line-up it was obvious we'd struggle to create anything, what was surprising was how shambolic we were defensively. Martial capitalized on a mistake and got us that vital away goal as other than that we didn't create much, Bruno livened things up a bit but we still only forced one save from the keeper and Mata was offside anyway.

Nobody can convince that Brandon is a LEFT-BACK..He can do a job there but he is a RIGHT-BACK! He should be the backup of AWB

That was horrible performance although result wasnt too bad for us. We really need Pogba and Scott back. Hopefully next season we dont have to watch Lingard and Andreas in the team. If either of them are anywhere close to first team, i will just give up watching football. I cant take this tumescent football anymore.

Anyone still thinks Ole will go places with this needs to get his head checked, we couldn't string 3 quick passes together.. Lingard needs to be booted out. Dire stuff.

When performing shite in PL matches I hope at times that it's simply because the other PL teams have gotten so strong, so it's days like these where I fully realize how pathetic we are.
