Why was he tested if he had no symptoms?

Makes you wonder how many in the UK actually have been infected/are currently infected without knowing.

I know I've had a dry cough the past few days (not overly continuous - coughing every 30 minutes or so), and I rarely have a cough. I had the flu for 3 days 2 weeks ago, and a cold for a few days the week before.
The conservative estimates are around 15k

For people with infants the uncertainty ahead must be unbearable.
Other than the run on supplies, the coronavirus doesn’t seem to complicate matters thankfully. It will more just be dealing with the complication of isolating from each other if we get it with a newborn in the house.

So what is the doomsday clock looking like right now? How long before many parts of the world go into chaos because of the virus and the brewing collapse of the global economical system?

Bummer mate.
The Dutch leader Rutte specifically mentioned 'herd immunity'. Like, literally.
I think it is a planned communications strategy. Of course they will do anything to contain/mitigate the disease.
But getting rid of it, to late, it is everywhere in Europe. We can't do a 4-6 week shutdown to "hunger" it out.
We have too many spreaders, that are needed to sustain our health systems, food supply, necessary logistics, public security etc.
Harsh as it sounds, we can delay till a vaccine is availabe or antiviral pharmaceutics. But worst case, it will only flatten out with herd immunity (won't even think about the scenario, when we as humans are not able to develop this herd immunity cause our bodies can't do it)

What a lovely idea. I'm sure it has never ever been exploited.
Yeah , it makes a good movie as well. I hope I can atill order my Guy Fawkes masks.

But, you need to enforce the separation. Since you cant give them additional brains, they'll have to deal with the brawn.

I had the worst flu I've ever had in December too. Lasted from 18 Dec - 27 Dec. It was crazy because I'd just completed a 4 week powerlifting strength gain cycle in gym, and PR'd in all my lifts, so theoretically was the strongest Ive ever been. And yet during this flu, I could barely go for a 10 min walk before feeling exhausted.

Started with a dry cough, quickly became like I had glass in my throat and I was dreading each time I coughed. Lasted 3 days. Then came a crazy fever and the deep flu sleep that comes with that. That lasted 3 days. Then I had these crazy intense abdominal pains, like I'd been punched just below the rib cage. Half way through this saga, I felt vaguely suicidal for 3 days, especially at sleep time, when I was questioning the purpose of life itself.

My Mum also had it a few days before me, I almost certainly contracted it from her. She had very similar symptoms but not quite as bad and recovered more quickly. Neither of us went to the doctor, we just assumed it was seasonal flu and toughed it out using OTC medicines.

The Convid19 symptoms sound exactly the same.
They sound the same because they are basically the same. A flu is always a nasty bastard. The only thing to fear here is human stupidity sadly...

Bar the penultimate paragraph, I had the exact same symptoms early Jan. Cough last a few weeks and this particular fevee started with a dry cough which is very weird for me.

No worries, but it's worth bearing in mind that (at the moment at least) you can use any Amazon site for delivery to the UK. As for the two hundred nappies, hoarding cnut.

Seriously though, take care.
I would have thought 200 hundred nappies was hoarding, but just been informed by the wife that we’ll need at least 12 a day early on... that’s barely two weeks’ worth! Oh, tomorrow morning will be fun.

If you have no symptoms why the feck are you getting tested?
That’s annoying me somewhat. As always, those with money get more protection. It just shows that the numbers will be much greater than we know of. On another note something that bothered me earlier. I was in Tesco and used the bathroom, signs and posters about washing your hands and the Coronavirus. Was their any soap in their soap dispensers? Of course there wasn’t.

Got to say i'm hugely concerned at the impact this is going to have on the economy. Really worry about some of the lovely restaurants, pubs, shops etc in my area. Will they still be around by the time this all blows over?

Just a heads up, that's classed as "continuous" under the current circumstances (longer than half a day).

Next few weeks will be telling. Threat seems to have exploded in London.
Im following UK/Europe news from Thailand. From, a distance, I think authorities learned something terrifying over weekend, which has then filtered down the grapevine, as panic levels seems to have suddenly escaped over this past weekend.

Im in a part of Phuket, where things are very calm. Im at a training bootcamp in a small village, near a jungle and far from the main tourist spots. It's an open air gym, vast majority of restaurants are open air, beach 10 mins away, and temperature always above 85F, and there are not that that many AC places anyway. And we are all eating freshly cooked food. I don't know if Thai Government is hiding truth, but the local shop vendors I deal with on daily basis keep telling they don't know anyone who is infected yet.

We've all started self policing now: no high fives or fist pumps after workouts, have conversations with other with 2 metre distance between, using hygienic wipes and hand cleanser etc. And no one if heading loo roll or fighting over resources (yet). Though Asia uses bum guns instead of loo paper.

But tourists here are panicking about having to return to their European city homes because of the mass panic that we are seeing on news, reading about or hearing from family PLUS our tourist visa's run out soon we are not sure if Thai Government will allow us to extend.

Is it really going nuts in London? Am due back on 25th March, but London sounds like it will be miserable. I'm in fantastic health and shape right now: coming back home sounds miserable: threat of self quarantine, if they shut down gyms in London, I'll go insane.

Should I stay out here as long as I can or brave the madness and reality of back home?

Wish the media would stop it with the celebrity angle. It really isn't the time for this nonsense.

Had the same shock on Saturday night when I was around at the sister in-law's house. She's just had a baby and saw the massive drawer's worth of nappies, reacting "you've enough to do you the next few months"....it was about 2 week's worth.

I’m going to hit up both local Aldis first thing tomorrow for nappies, as we’ve got none and a baby possibly arriving any day!
Check out any B&M or Home Bargains stores too pal, and don't just buy Newborn nappies either. The lovely fecker might come out chunky!

Nappies, wipes (how does something so small poop so much?!), arse cream. Sounds like my weekends when I was in my twenties.

For those panicking about nappies or other hard to find items. It might be a long shot, but you could attempt to phone some supermarkets nearby and plea to them to hold at least 1 item in reserve for you? Not sure if it'd work but you could at least try it right?
