I'm quite left leaning but I don't understand how this is in any way racist or xenophobic. There is enough information albeit circumstantial that the actions of the Chinese government in lifting the ban on exotic meat trade in open air unregulated markets owing to lobbying pressure from domestic businesses pretty much caused this.
I don't understand the need to pussyfoot around that fact when assigning blame.

There is something called diplomacy. Adults practice it when they are adulting, especially when adulting for money or dealing with a serious crisis. "Chinese Virus" is wholly inappropriate language, even if you are a dumbfeck on Twitter. Wuhan is more appropriate because it informs us of origin and region, not ethnicity. We also know he's passing blame to wherever he can. Unacceptable in a long fecking line if unacceptable things this ugly cnut has done, just this week.

There are tons of virus and diseases named after the place they originated, Ebola, Lyme disease, West Nile Fever etc all fit this category.
Calling it "the Chinese Virus" is a clear smear attempt by Trump but I probably wouldn't admonish anyone saying something like the Wuhan virus.

It's really simple. If you want to refer to it by its geographic origin then he could have easily called it "Wuhan" and nobody would care. If he wants to assess blame (which is his calling card) he can simple say "the virus China failed to contain". There is a reason why Ebola wasn't called the "African Virus" and the Spanish Flu wasn't called the "American Virus". He's referring to an entire ethnic group, not the Chinese government.
And yet the man who puts his name on everything didn't want his healthcare concept to be nicknamed 'Trumpcare'. Oh, I wonder why...

The communist party got bribed into lifting the sanctions they imposed on exotic meat trade after the SARS epidemic to now single handedly cause a global recession. If that doesn't deserve the strictest of sanctions, I don't know what else does. This is worse than Putin annexing Crimea.

Haha, sanctions on China. Turn anything over or inside out and tell me where it's made. This planet is in a fecking quagmire right now and you are certainly correct about the propaganda. But sanctions on China would only hurt the origin of the sanctions. Imagine if they hadn't killed hundreds of millions of baby girls over a couple of generations, they'd easily be close to one third of global population. Cooperation is required going forward, not sanctions.
