They were all 21 year old players at sides like Rennes etc. and nobody else was interested in them. Basically just needed a defensive midfielder. It's the same every year in terms of transfers which is why I started only buying it every 2 or 3 years. I don't get how they haven't fixed the transfer nonsense yet.
Personally don’t think there’s anything wrong with the transfers. Player interaction needs looking at but transfers are fine imo

I just think it’s a joke that they still haven’t fixed the issue where clubs demand 100m for 18 year olds that have 3 star potential and have never played a professional game. It’s odd.

That offer is a trick and a half. Ain't no one gonna play FM for one week and then not buy it.

SI have commented on this before, they say it just means the AI don’t want to sell the player so they ask for unreasonable demands. Which seems like a cop out but yeah

Downloaded it. Started a game as Everton. Scouted a few players and tried to sign them. See estimated wage and it looks in budget for me. Enter negotiations. Estimated wages are 40k and they demand 120k. Right then. This happened for a few players. Swiftly uninstalled.
Did you scout them more than once? I’ve noticed this year you need to scout for quite a while to get accurate information.

Also, they probably had little interest in joining, which is why they asked for a high wage. What did the player interest level say?

What’s wrong with the AI not wanting to sell a player? It shouldn’t be easy to sign a clubs best player or best youth prospect. The first transfer window when starting with a team is always pretty difficult, always has been.

Nothing wrong with that, the problem is the AI transfer system in general. I find it unrealistic that a team in the lower leagues won't sell a youth prospect for less than £80m. I tried signing a player from Dusselorf (or a similar team) but was rebuffed even when I placed a £80m bid. He was sold a year later for £7m to an AI team.

Done a Utd game as I haven't played FM in year....shits easier than ever.

3rd season.

DeGea(Orme)
AWB-Dayot-Lindelof-Williams(Dalot-Maguire-Laird-Shaw)
Luis(Rooney)
Bruno-Pogba(Bellingham-Hannibal)
Sancho-Haaland-Messi(Rashford-Greenwood-Fati)

Martial,James,Karamoko Dembele make up the 25.

De Gea had 28 clean sheets and 26 clean sheets in the first two years....

I bought Messi and Rooney to humour myself - tried to get Ronaldo but Utd won't allow 900k a week....but they are insanely good.

Same issues as ever - interaction is crap, 30 shots a game = 2 goals, make 3 subs at 50 mins or less = sent off or injury
How is Rooney doing?

Pretty f'in good - not the level of Luis-Pog-Bruno, but for a 500k backup for all 3 of them....you won't get better for £30m

Bellingham - Mejbri.

If you had to develop one as a cm and one as a 10?

I'm looking at 5 weeks off work, I guess now is a good time to get stuck back in now they did the winter update. I haven't played since before it was patched so I'm interested to see how the changes affect my tactics and stuff.

Been glued to this. I am currently mid table in the PL with Sunderland in 2024. I got them up using loads of loans and had Brewster and Chong on loan for 3 seasons in row Brewster becomes world class but he’s gone back to pool now to sit on their bench. Farewell sweet prince! Chong is decent but isn’t going to win many matches for you on his own.

I’m in the tricky part now where the club give me the budget to avoid relegation but I want to try for the EL so I can get better players and more cash ASAP! Also fully revamping the coaching and youth setup as I go. I’ve watched all the class young players move to big clubs. I have Bellingham, Lainez, and arezo as my flair and had odegaard last season on a free but he wouldn’t sign a new deal so I sold him to PSG for 60 and got Bellingham and Lainez and a few punts in. Basically a mishmash Of free transfers and cheap youth and waiting for the best regens. Mid table is quite boring. Getting some nice results especially at home with an attacking 433 gegenpress and then going away to the big teams and getting absolutely battered even though I use a solid defensive 4141 counter attack setup. Bring on next season!

I would say CM for Bellingham. In my save I use him as an attacking mezzala in my 4-1-2-3 system. He's now described as world-class midfielder, is Brighton captain, and has led us to our first Premier League title in 2026 :D all at the age of 22!

So I decided to turn my social distancing into something productive and do a FM20 save. Picked AZ Alkmaar, because I'm tired of playing a top4 league where you basically have unlimited budget after one season, also having two great talents in Boadu and Stengs to build a club's future around sounded interesting.
Since it's a Dutch club I felt compelled to go with a possession heavy 433, but since I want to be a fancy lad and lone strikers have often disappointed me I decided to see how far I can get strikerless.

The plan is to build up and pull the opposition towards the right, with the BPD (they count as a playmaker for the ME, right?) and AP and then attack the vacated space on the left with Boadu and Quina (loaning him was my only transfer, with 15 long shots and the complementary PPM he's exactly what I'm looking for and West Ham gave me a low-ish buy option, so maybe I can make the deal permanent with next season's budget).

I tried to start out with the basics and work my way up from there/adjust according to opposition, so TIs are relatively sparse and the tactic as a whole is rather risk averse, but it turned out I'm getting great results out of the box:

Is it possible to win after going 2-0 up? Asking for a friend...
Your friend is shite if he keeps losing from this position!

But if you mean from 2-0 down, yes, it's possible.

"his" team, just falls asleep at 2 up. Regardless of tacticsused to steady the ship. The team is weak (created a club with only Welsh free agents under the age of 20) but when 2 up, they just stand still letting the ball over the top, bad touches in our box or other silly things like that.

I mean the game isn't just scripted in the sense that it decides you have to lose.
These things can be explained by the CPU increasing mentality, using more aggressive tactics as it tries to come back into the game. Your buildup turns to shit, because your players are getting pressured more and can't cope.
Balls over the top become a problem, because the CPU uses more aggressive passing or player roles and your backline is too slow/bad at marking or you don't pressure passers enough.

The game hates me!
When one position is injured, the backup will also get injured! My Atleti save had Lemar injured, fine, his very capable back up is Pavon. He also gets injured. Okay, I'll play Correa there..injured. feck it, change tactic have two up front? Diego Costa gets injured and my reserve left winger. Ended up playing Saul as a winger and Partey as an inside forward.

The same way the normal game works, but you all choose a team and then each day you can do what you want, but you can't progress until everybody has pressed the space button so it continues.

The host/admin can force somebody to move forward if they're taking ages or gone AFK.

It works really well, me and a friend do it and we're about 5 seasons in now and having a great battle.

Sounds good. So do both players have to be on to play a game vs eachother, or how does that part work?

The host could play the game without you (but I don't think you'd be happy with that)

Ideally yes you both need to be online and playing for it to work properly. In a match you can pause it and change your tactics and it pauses the match for both sides.

Just had the FA cup final as me with United and my friend as Chelsea. Greenwood double secured the cup for me

Best way for it to work would probably have a set playtime each week that was agreed among all players, and whatever house rules that are implemented to ensure the game runs at a decent pace. I know you can force matchdays to take place on Wednesdays and Saturdays only, so if we all play in same the premier league, it should work ok.

@spontaneus1 @BD @Adam-Utd I know you're discussing an online game but it may be a bit more manageable, at first, to start with an online draft? They are really fun + easy to complete if everyone is online at the same time. We only need a few of us too.

I would be tempted to buy this and join in if there is going to be an online league set up - never done it before and not played this for some time. @JB08 @spontaneus1 @BD @Adam-Utd Let me know if you are going ahead.

Won the Bundesliga in the first season with Dortmund. Haaland and Reus were quality but really struggled getting Sancho going. Played well throughout the season and should’ve had the cup double. But my team started to burnout towards the end of the season.

I play a gegenpress with extremely high intensity. Is there a way to stop the burnout or should I just be rotating more?
