So I decided to turn my social distancing into something productive and do a FM20 save. Picked AZ Alkmaar, because I'm tired of playing a top4 league where you basically have unlimited budget after one season, also having two great talents in Boadu and Stengs to build a club's future around sounded interesting.
Since it's a Dutch club I felt compelled to go with a possession heavy 433, but since I want to be a fancy lad and lone strikers have often disappointed me I decided to see how far I can get strikerless.
The plan is to build up and pull the opposition towards the right, with the BPD (they count as a playmaker for the ME, right?) and AP and then attack the vacated space on the left with Boadu and Quina (loaning him was my only transfer, with 15 long shots and the complementary PPM he's exactly what I'm looking for and West Ham gave me a low-ish buy option, so maybe I can make the deal permanent with next season's budget).
I tried to start out with the basics and work my way up from there/adjust according to opposition, so TIs are relatively sparse and the tactic as a whole is rather risk averse, but it turned out I'm getting great results out of the box:
