I feel like after season 2 reception they are trying to dumb it down. With all the explanations between the characters. They mystery seems to be gone.
True. While S2 was a bit too loopy at times, it was still enjoyable in trying to connect the dots and see where things were going. This time out it is still enjoyable but feels more like a bog standard action drama where things are heading towards an out and out showdown.

Precisely. Set up the stage: You good , she evil. Fight!

Ah, but we're two episodes in. Who's to say your belief that we're heading towards an out and out showdown isn't the writer's intention, to lead you into that premature conclusion. Wouldn't be the first time Jonathan Nolan has done that.

That scene with Drogon in Park 4. I remember Hector telling maeve, "She has a dragon", in reference to the blonde woman who burns the guy with the flamethrower. Great reference.

I'd die if they explained that Westeros, and all of the GoT story was just that. A park within Delos.

I think this series is only 8 episodes which is good. Seems a lot more focused and less wishy washy and all over the shop than the second season (so far) which really was shite.

That said I still have feck all idea what's going on half the time.

That was a weird episode. As plot points it was probably important, however the execution was very mediocre. The dialogue sounded disjointed, and not only the AI conversations. Unless everyone is a simulation and the events actually take place in that hypercomputer.

Just an early guess, but I'm going out on a limb and stating that this is yet another simulation/world. FutureWorld, to be precise, which just happened to be the name and premise of the movie sequel to the original WestWorld.

Yeah that's what most are guessing at this stage. I'm on board with that thought.

It's the best looking, most beautiful, and also most fecking boring show on TV. I can't get into this season at all. Nothing about it interests me other than the pretty cinematography.

I actually don't think this will be true. I think the Serac guy will turn out to be a AI driven just like robots but he would not have physical presence only holographic one.

I’m not sure what to think, other than Aaron Paul looks better with a bit of weight on him. Maybe that’s the negative connotation with him being a meth dealer in Breaking Bad though.

Also, this looks like a Terminator world offshoot directed by Michael Mann.

I'm enjoying it a bit more than S2 so far, not saying much though.

It's annoying me how desperately the writers want me to love Dolores, but she just kind of irritates me. She's written like an edgy teen who's just read Nietzsche and thinks they're the hottest shit

This season has been so pointless and boring I have nothing to say about it. I'll give it a one more chance with ep4. Such a shame really.

I've enjoyed this season so far (having little else to do so far helps), maybe because it's somewhat straight forward to follow unlike the previous season.

I still can't get over how confusing season 2 was, I rarely use it but it had me searching Reddit and listening to podcasts trying to understand what was going on after every episode and I still wasn't sure.

Read Reddit after every episode of this thread too, ends up more confusing than just watching it

I don’t know if I can take this show seriously anymore.

That mortician clearly didn’t remove her gloves according to pandemic policy.

turning into a proper sci-fi action series now. Not quite sure what to think of that.

William's character arc has been one of the things that has held the show together since the start and I think they've set that up nicely again. I quite the motivations for most characters perhaps except Maeve.

I love this show and think it's beautifully made from the dialogue to the acting to the philosophising to cinematography.

But it seems to be heading down a fairly well-trodden scifi path this season. It's coming down to a choice between oppressive central control of humanity (Serac), overthrow of humanity by revolution (Delores), freedom for humanity from both oppression and revolution (Bernard).

I'm pretty sure I've seen that story told multiple times before. But at the same time I'm relatively confident that Westworld will do it better than any almost other show could.

fecked this off after season 2 disappeared up its own arse. Some of the comments on here seem to suggest some kind of shift in story, is it possible to pick up from S3E1 or would I need to finish S2?
