Just another misstep on the road to ruin for Barcelona. People in Madrid will be watching on with delight.

They have the worst transfer record out of any club in world football over the last 5 years, and in 2-3 years they will have no Messi and half a squad to replace.

It’s bordering on criminal how badly they are run. Setting themselves up to be Milan v2.0.
At some point we were the same but the Dembele and Coutinho deals put them in a class of their own.

Every club sticks to their guns in negotiations, that always goes for all involved parties. Why getting riled up about it?
Exactly. If an English club would attempt the same, it'd be called "cheeky" and if it came through it'd be called "genius", or some other stupid superlative, yet a foreign club tries it and the jingoistic comments come out in the open.

Not so much the ones that were sold but remember some of the rumoured prices quoted for the likes of Muller and Lewandowski?
Bayern were never quoting prices for Müller or Lewandowski since they never intended to sell them.
Everyone who wanted to leave (Kroos, Schweinsteiger, Rode, Hummels, Götze et al.) left on very reasonable terms for the buying club. Bayern is rather generous when selling players.

They sold us two crocks for a combined total of 26 million euros. Great deal. You cawn understand why people on this forum might disagree with your perspective.

The fee for Schweinsteiger was not high. Bayern respected his wish to go to United. It was obvious that he was no longer in his prime. The blame is not on Bayern.
Harvreaves was 20 years ago and he only became a crock at United.

In a nutshell: if you want to leave Bayern they don’t hold the player hostage and they ask for a reasonable fee. A lot of Bayern fans are always complaining that they don’t maximize the price.

Its kind of a crazy offer tbh. I know prices are probably lower now than a year ago but he's worth 3 times that in a normal market, easy. Get some other clubs involved and they'll get an offer double that immediately imo.

Barca are just kicking the can down the road. The swap helps them breaking even fiscally and avoiding FFP issues (for now). They might do this until they get Messi and his €100m off of the payroll.
Yeah it solves their short-term financial problems, but compounds their on-pitch issues. What must Messi be thinking right now? He may not be blameless with the stupid money he's earning, but if I were him, I'd be taking a hike.

The trainwreck they'll become when he does go is going to be really, really fun to watch.

I understand the accounting trade. Both clubs book short term gains, though they have to amortize the cost of the new players on the b/s.

I don't understand the economic trade, surely selling 23-yr old Arthur for 10m Euros and a 30-yr old Pjanic is extremely dumb. Moreover, they'd have to amortize Pjanic's 80 million book value on the balance sheet over the next 4 years, so that's negative 20 million (excluding wages) a year with no recoup. Completely retarded. Barca must be broke...
They're basically paying way too much salary for their players and it's killing them slowly.

Saka is the Arsenal player we need to express interest in. That said, I’d take Guendouzi - he has a good mentality and the sort of dog Pogba needs beside him.

He seems like a twat who runs a lot. Not overly impressed with him, but Arsenal is such a terribly run team, I wouldn't want to write him off because he did look very promising at one point.

 this is such an accurate description.

Also Saka is entering the final year of his contract. We can actually go for him.

Guendouzi is shite. His agent is doing the rounds linking him to clubs far above his level.

Feck no. Is Arsenal trying to start a bid for him or is it his agent?

I don't see the point in Guendouzi when we have someone pretty similar in Mejbri coming through. Guendouzi seems like a bit of a prat too. Saka though... would snap him up in a heartbeat.

Seriously?! What the difference between him and McTominay, or even Fred for that matter?
Tbh, not a great deal, other than him being like 19 or 20. Tbh, I probably sounded more enthusiastic towards signing him than I am, and I retract 50% of it!

Haha, I don't think he's a bad play as such, I just personally feel he wouldn't bring anything different to what we already have. I also think, if we're to purchase a midfield in the summer, it should be either a holding midfielder or attacking midfielder. I'd place Mattéo Guendouzi more into the category of box to box.

To have Saka as a left back and wing option would be something I'd be definitely up for, though.

Hakimi says 'yes' to Inter. Now Inter and Real Madrid are discussing a deal.
I thought Madrid would have wanted to take him back. That would be a great signing for Inter or any other team that needs a RB.

Hakimi is one id love us to sign, average defensively but offensively he’s top 5 in the world as a RB/LB

If feel like anyone saying they would take Gandouzi haven't really seen him play. Gooners for the most part don't even like him. Why would we? If we were to go after one of their midfielders it should be Toriera, but with his injury record so far, I would stay away from him too....

Wait, so if Real are willing to sell and the player is willing to move, then why didn't Dortmund try to sign him?

Signing him seems implausible now given that they have signed Meunier, but I always thought it was because Real were not going to sell Hakimi.

Hakimi has been brilliant in his new RWB role, I think he would've been worth the 40 MP because of what he brings offensively. Don't think Meunier can provide the same.
