Needs to sort a few things out. Poor finishing against Sheffield United (albeit, a good performance otherwise); pretty anonymous when he came on against Norwich; pretty anonymous again today.

Hopefully, he gets back to his best form. Unlike Pogba (he seems to come back like he has been playing all the time), though, he seems to take time to recover his form.

Looks low on confidence at the moment. Snatching at shots and rushing things unnecessarily. Unfortunately, we have no one to bench him for until he finds some form from the bench, this is where Grealish would be perfect in my opinion.

Needs time and patience like all other players, we are playing after 3 months and he is playing after even longer time. Not every one can be Pogba who can hit a pitch perfect 60 yard pass after seating out for a year.

Often takes a little while to get going.

Luckily for us the rest of the team is covering it anyway.

No concern at all from me.

It's a good thing the team is clicking right now which mean he'll be afforded to play himself to form. If we were still losing games such as this one like earlier on the season I'd have been harder for him to rediscover his form due to pressure and constant criticism but as things are right now, we're flying high and the spirit is positive and this will help Rashford relax and get himself to form instead of trying to force and rush things due to pressure.

A goal would do him some good. Hopefully he sees the back of the net next game.

His pass to Shaw storming the box during 2nd goal was a beauty.
Yeah, he linked up well with Shaw a couple of times. Overall though he just doesn't seem quite at it, but he's come back from a long injury even before lockdown so I'd give him the benefit of the doubt. It isn't as if he's stinking it up so badly he's stopping the team from doing well.

I’ve noticed throughout his career he goes into these weird patches where he seems like his mind is completely elsewhere for about 4 or 5 games.

He plays those games extremely passively for the most part. Receiving the ball on the left usually and then he’ll trap the ball, look around and play a safe pass backwards. That or he’ll try a sort of standing, no back lift pass that rarely comes off. You compare it to how someone like Greenwood receives the ball on the turn and looking to make things happen. It’s odd. It’s not related to his injury because he’s been like this before.

He just seems like he’s on another planet in his head and then suddenly he’ll hit form and he looks devastating.

I think Rashford may be a slow starter, a bit like Rooney? He won't hit the ground running after an injury but will eventually come good.

He is getting minutes in his legs and a goal will come soon. Don't think Martial played any better today. He didn't have a single shot on or off target today which is amazing considering how dominant we were as the '9'.

Can only be positive if we are winning 3 nil away and those two were quiet.

Shame there's not an International break coming up as that's what got him going for us last time

Can't wait till he's back in form, frightening prospect

Does anyone think his starting position's been a bit deep lately? Also he seems to always come really deep to get the ball off Luke (to the point that he's like 5 yards away) and never really runs in behind for Luke to play a pass. He prefers to be the one passing.

If we sign Sancho Rashford needs to look over his shoulder. Martial is the glue in our attack and Greenwood is developing at a very scary rate and could be undroppable soon. Really hope he picks up form soon

Looked Ronaldoesque at times earlier in the season and now he looks a bit slow. Im guessing he is nowhere close to 100 %. Those back injuries can be tricky.
Different sport but in UFC some fighters cant wrestle for a few months after their back injury. Then like a year later they recover and they can do wrestling etc like before.
Im guessing its a similar case here, he just isnt at 100 % physically, he is out of form as well and oh well it is what it is. He will bounce back. Good thing everyone else is playing so well.

He had plenty of space to work with but it just wasn't clicking today. I thought this would have been a good opportunity for him to score and get some confidence back, he's bound to bounce back anytime now.

Yeah, it's odd. He's someone you'll moan about in a game for some terrible decisions, touches/chances missed, but then always has that quality in him. Reminds me of sterling in that regard.

As long as he keeps putting in the effort he does, his presence alone opens up avenues for other players. Can't wait until he's fully back and confident

That's what we want though. They will all rotate and all hit form at different times. Rashford could easily bag 1 or 2 at weekend. Looks a good fixture for him.

Grinding out those 4 out of 10 performances currently.
Can't beat a man, can't cross, can't shoot. Hopefully it's temporary.
Can Jadon Sancho play on the left??

  1. Has 4-5 games where he looks sluggish and completely off the boil
  2. Caf: "time to burst Rashy's bubble"
  3. Goes on a run of 8-10 games where he regains his confidence and everything clicks
  4. Caf: "best young player after Mbappe"
  5. Rinse and repeat

Just an observation but he looks like he's beating himself up and has lost confidence. It's where most players are different from Ronaldo who would have been pissed at himself with this type of performances

Spot on. Even on an off-day he contributes. He'll come good soon enough.

4 games back after a 5 and a half month lay-off. Patience.

He's already playmaking really well, just needs to get his running and shooting back into gear. There are signs it is on the way. Again, patience.

I think he was fine today, obviously not the explosive and frightening Rashford we've come to know but he still contributed and it was a mature showing. Still feeling his way into the groove but he'll be fine.

One of the next 5 teams we play is going to get battered by Marcus. Not at all concerned by his form.

I like this version of him better than the one who would constantly take very low percentage decisions. I think he's been playing very well despite not getting on the scoresheet, playing with brains against a low block instead of instinct.

The only thing stopping him from playing extremely well is he's not on the scoresheet yet. Of course, if we're struggling for goals then it's a different matter and he does have to step up.

I was thinking this as well. He hasn't been forcing anything and has made some quality passes. The goals will come soon enough.

Maybe he's missing the crowd a bit, he'll pick up pace.

I was hoping for 25 goals this season I think he'll reach it.

Not worried about him at all. It's a good thing though that we are cruising at the moment. Gives him time to find his boots without too much pressure. Can't wait to see him on song together with an in form Pogba, Bruno etc.

He is playing with his head up and linking up well with teammates. Seems people prefer him taking one million shots from every angle.

Think he's still not fully in the game, but luckily we have other players that are on fire now so his "absence" isn't hurting us much. Would love it for him to come out of his slump ASAP.

Yeah, he looks like playmaker. He slows down the game, looks for options and then plays the pass. When he combines this with more off the ball runs like before, he will be at different level. There is lot of maturity in his game.

This always had to be his future role when we eventually got better. Most of the goals he would score were on the counter but we are seeing less of that now because we are the ones consistently dominating teams.
I wrote earlier that I wasn’t worried about him not scoring as much because he was making better decisions with his passing. He has also stopped the unnecessary long shots from weird positions in midfield which was due to frustration.

I’d say the only issue I’m worried about is his dribbling in tight spaces. It’s affecting how he takes on players because he is used to kicking and running when in space. He doesn’t have that same space now and just loses it in a clumsy manner.

That third goal could have also been him because he was quick to provide himself as another option with Bruno. I think he will be fine.
