Failing of VAR doesn’t prove anything. I’m absolute my certain he’d have been sent off for this had they looked at it.
Interesting as VAR is always looking at stuff & didn’t give a red .

Or I can believe you & assume that they just missed it somehow as it’s such an obvious red.

Deary me

If you’re falling over you are not intending to do a challenge or anything. You’re simply falling over so it can’t be reckless as you’re not intending to do anything.

With other reckless challenges people are going in for tackles but miss timed, high etc.

Surely you can see the difference?
No, because in this instance he is falling over and also being reckless. If you kick out at a player then you are being reckless - that's all there is to it.

If they both went up for the ball and Vardy fell atop of Mustafi then it wouldn't be a red card but he kicked out at him - it's really simple.

I don’t think he kicked out at him, he’s falling over & catches him. That’s all there is to it.

People are seeing it’s Vardy & it’s clouding their judgement I think.

If you think rationally about it it’s obviously not a red (as ref & VAR thought too)

Whether he intentionally meant to kick him in the face or not , this is not a natural thing you do after slipping.

Yes so clear that the ref & VAR gave nothing
They gave the benefit of the doubt surely, but that wasn't a natural movement, There's a strike intent. As a combat sport practitioner there's no way that leg movement is not intentional unless he has neurological problems with muscular spasms :D

Could have taken Mustafi's eye out. Clearly intentional to kick out and clearly red.

He kicks his foot out towards the player when there was absolutely NO reason to do so. It’s 100% deliberate because if not then why kick your foot out? If he’s just falling over naturally then his foot doesn’t move. It moves because he’s trying to kick him. He just probably didn’t realise the guy’s head was there. Completely blown my mind that anyone can think this is an accident to be honest, it’s so clear what he’s doing.

Maybe Vardy is an arsenal fan and did what all their fans want to do to Mustafi.

You can’t say it’s 100% deliberate can you. Only Vardy knows that.

Must blow your mind that VAR missed it then. In your opinion then people better be very careful how they fall in challenges in future as they could get red carded. How ridiculous

Benefit of the doubt -- he has

Therefore no red card, and no disciplinary action.
Innocence! Vardy is a gentle kind player.

No we do that already with challenges .

Not with people falling over.

I can’t even believe there’s a debate that a red should be given for accidentally contacting someone while falling over.
Sorry, you're just talking nonsense now.

Firstly, people fall over and make contact with others mostly because of challenges with other players. Vardy fell as part of the challenge from Mustafi. Secondly what contacts are initiated while players are falling over, are subjects of investigation with cards issued when deemed intentional.

Again, falling over is not carte blanche to kick people. Players try to disguise their kick outs, with various levels of success. When dangerous contact is made, it's reviewed for intent whatever the circumstances. Those are them rules.

Yes me , the ref & VAR are all talking nonsense.

You guys talk about VAR like its a living entity. VAR is only a system that is being run by human judgments. Its not the systems fault that feckin idiot refs make shit calls. As bad as some of these calls have been its still fewer than the number of shit calls we had before it. I will say it is more infuriating when the refs can't seem to get it right even with VAR but I don't think you can blame the system. We just need better rules and better refs.

You are obviously talking nonsense when you say these aren't reviewed for intent. They clearly are, hence VAR reviews.

I never said there was enough evidence that it was intentional in this case. If it was deemed intentional he would have been off and him falling over has nothing to do with it. People disguise kick outs while falling over all the time. Of course those are reviewed.

If you're saying that's not deliberate then I worry for you. I've studied and worked as a physio. When you fall, especially at any kind of speed your body naturally brings the ligaments inwards to form a solid centre of mass to minimise damage on impact, your legs simply don't flail around and they certainly don't project force from the hip through to the foot like that. That's a movement that's been made deliberately. He obviously didn't know the guys head was there and has lashed out in a moment of rage from the tussle expecting to hit the body.

100% intentional. He turns and looks for him ffs, and then accelerates his boot towards him. I doubt he intended to get him in the face but absolutely no doubt he wanted to stick one on him.

It's almost like the referees in this country are screwing up the VAR system on purpose.

You can’t prove that was deliberate.
You just can’t.

It wasn’t a challenge, therefore not reckless.

It’s not a red.

@Rafaeldagold has had an absolute shocker in this thread

Do you honestly think a normal fall would make your leg swing around with enough force to cut and bruise somebodys face? this wasn't just an accidental brush it was a kick.

He's lashed out for a split second, realised he's made a huge mistake and quickly run over to say sorry in the hope it'll make it seem accidental. You've fallen for it hook line and sinker.

Yes such a shocker that the ref & VAR agreeee with me ha.

1) You can’t Prove it was deliberate
2) it’s not an intent to do anything, it’s falling over...So can’t be reckless
3) You’re all a little bit insane thinking we should give reds for that, I mean very odd thinking

The kick and the fall are normal and natural coming from someone like Vardy.

You don't need to prove it. That's not how football works. It's not a court of law. Football is based on the opinions of the ref or a committee.
You can't "prove" a handball is deliberate, you make decisions based on unnatural movements or positions of the body.
This is exactly the same, it's an unnatural movement of the body made with extreme force.

1. Don't need to. Just like Nketiah dangerous is dangerous.
2.It's intent to harm. he's already fallen over, but then swings his leg backwards hard enough to cut and bruise his face.
3. You're the insane one. You think kicking people in the face is fine as long as it's masked  weird

VAR missing it doesn’t prove anything, it’s been inconsistent all season. I don’t know why you keep bringing this up, someone failed in their duties to review it, nothing more. The guy has wounds from the studs on his face for christs sake. Even if it was accidental it should have been looked at. That VAR failed to review proves absolutely nothing.

So there is nothing to argue/debate for any penalty decision and red card as Ref and VAR both make the decision, so you can't argue against that.

"Its not a red card, Ref and VAR agree with me"
"It's a penalty, Ref and VAR agree with me"

No he’s falling over. It’s nothing to do with the laws of the game ie) handball or a reckless challenge.

So yes if you’re falling over & accidentally catch someone in the face then absolutely you have to prove it was deliberate

We do that already mate and should continue to do that. We try to judge if contact is intentional or not and if it the movement is unnatural it's deemed intentional and cards are brandished.

A player falling over is not carte blanche to kick and punch people. And most footballers are trying to disguise intentional lash outs as accidental while falling over. It's nothing new
Aye. Looks like he’s tried to leave something in and use the excuse of the tussle and falling over to throw a kick. Whether he intends to hit his face specifically is unlikely but he’s clearly swung a leg in his direction.

100% straight red card. Things like this, I don’t understand the reason for VAR.

This.
But this is the CAF so people are going to hold steadfast to their opinion and argue back and forth even though there is zero chance of changing the other persons mind or them changing yours. Fun Times.
Yes I'm saying that I hold steadfast to my opinion just as much as everybody else on here. I just get bored quicker and move on.

It's obviously a red card and intentional. I challenge any of you to fall over and extend your leg out with force at the same time. You just don't do it, serves no purpose.

From here, here's down. The natural reaction is to hit the deck on your elbow/upper arm and try to mitigate any damage to your head. Your legs don't go on vacation mode.
from this still image the only way is down. But, the momentum, albeit slight, is carrying his body weight towards Mustafi. That said, I don’t think his leg needs to be anywhere near that high and it does look like he has tried to leave one on him

People still trying to argue with Rafael, for your sake just give up, he's too far gone  The annoying thing is i'm sure if Nketiah gets sent off first then Vardy does that, there would have been bigger consequences. He clearly meant to get one in hoping to catch him in the back or back of his legs. We see instances of these every game from defenders or attackers that just got floored and try to get justice for themselves (Lacazette does that at least 3 times a game, it's mental) 99% of the time it just gets the opponent riled and nobody gets hurt. But when you throw blades at the face of a player and gives him 2 bloody gash then maybe, just maybe, you should have a little word and review the incident. Mustafi was clearly getting treated, they had all the time in the world to look at it. But it's Vardy so that's a no go.
