He will never get over this issues. Its a pity, he would be phenomenal.
and if he doesn’t we have an unprofessional, unfit, flop.

if it was a loan and an option, not obligation to buy - then sure. But would be worries about spending a lot of money on this lad.

whilst he may be less than Sancho, it would still be close to our record transfer.
And if he doesn't, we'll have a 60m+ player in the treatment room. Where's the logic?
No white text?
If he didnt had professionalism in Messi's team I doubt he'll have it here. He seems like one of those players we'll be reading in 5 years time "remember Dembele? Now retired at 27..."

With the amount of talent he had at Dortmund and Rennes Pre injuries he is worth the risk. Arjen robben was also riddled with injuries during his time at Chelsea and Madrid yet with persistence and time moved to Bayern and you know the rest.

Dembele at Rennes and Dortmund was just as skillful as Sancho. He is also much faster and a NATURAL at RW.

I’m sure if we were in for him Barcelona would reduce their demands or we could go through the loan route with an option to buy. It’s a win in my book.

There is also the possibility we could get both Sancho and Dembele. Let them all fight for their spot.

There a lot of players that have "failed" at Barcelona but that does not make them bad players. Remember..... what's that name???? Zlatan? still playing at 38. Just because players don't end up gelling with Messi does not make them bad players ala Griezmann, Coutinho, Dembele, Zlatan to name a few.

I think a lot of people like yourself (no fault of your own) have bigged Sancho so much like he's the second coming of Ronaldinho or CR7. He's good no doubt but personally speaking, I don't think he's worth 90 to 100m. How many players that have left Dortmund for a different league have been able to replicate their form? Also, we've still got a few important positions to fill. Just like Sancho, Havertz is a generational talent as well. They're the same age and Havertz can also play as a false 9 given his instinct and stature and he'll be far cheaper than Sancho. Dortmund are looking to for a big payout of the Sancho deal. If we're able to get Dembele on a loan and can also get Havertz, I think that's the better deal than getting Sancho alone. Dembele (with the likes of Pogba and Martial) and obviously Ole get back to his original form.
He's not Ronaldinho or Ronaldo, he doesn't have those extreme qualities. However he's pretty much on the Hazard trajectory. How much would you value a young Eden Hazard in today's market?

If Ole can set his head straight, this could be a bargain of the century. At one point he was on top of the world of young talents, before the likes of Mbappe or even Sancho emerged.

Hope we stay well away. He's a crock with an appalling attitude, everything we don't want and everything that Ole has been trying to get rid of.

Sancho is the far better option in so many ways I can't be bothered to type them.

I think you are overrating Havertz a lot he excels in a position which we don't even play with we don't need a SS or false 9 we need a rw whether we bring Dembele on loan or Sancho that position needs to be sorted this summer . You may not rate Sancho for prices mentioned but spending 70million on player who we would struggle to fit in is greater wastage of money.

Apparently he has asked Martial about what it is like at Man utd, I feel a lot more confident in him at utd with his international teammates Pogba and Martial as well as younger players like Rashford and Greenwood who are closer to his age, than at Barca with regards to professionalism.

Messi is the greatest but does it seem to you that anyone can tell him what to do at Barca and that includes the coach and the president. They basically give him a contract extension every year.
I am sure he has an inner circle and I bet Dembele is not in it. Think about all the skillful/Tricky players that have been at Barca at the same time as Messi, from a young Alexis, who came to the premier league and was one of the best players up until his transfer to utd, Neymar had to get away to forge his own path, Coutinho, need I say more. Look at how average Griezman looks right now and Dembele was a superstar in the making at Dortmund, look at how much he cost and all of a sudden he is always injured when he never had any injury problems at Dortmund.

I'm not saying Messi is a tyrant but I saw the way he just blatantly ignored the assistant coach the other day and I hear he is not on speaking terms with Setien, now imagine with this level of power over everyone, how does it feel to be the likes of Griezman and Dembele and the other players I have mentioned, especially if they are not in his inner circle and personally, I would not hold anything against any of these players because it could be a burden playing alongside Messi.

I would rather rate these players based on where they played before going to play with Messi or after they leave.
On that note, I absolutely want Jadon Sancho but in the event Dortmund price him out, then my first choice is absolutely Dembele. We sorted out Giggs hamstring issues, we will sort out Dembele's.

Agree and if anything Havertz has been equally overrated as much as Sancho (and for less output.) Sancho is the perfect signing for United this summer to fill that right wing spot. No doubt about that.

Robben never had attitude nor professionalism problems, but I agree a loan with a buy option would be interesting. Besides that I wouldnt risk it, its a huge money transfer for a player with huge potential but poor present.

He's actually very good right now. Just injured a lot.

So it would be money for huge potential, very good present, but questions about injuries and adaptation.

Are you seriously comparing Zlatan to Dembele? I cannot think of a worst example, Zlatan had problems with Pep but never had problems regarding fitness nor professionalism.

Failing at barcelona doesnt make you a bad players instantly, but failing due attitude and fitness problems for sure make its less likely to make it big on another team.

I cant think of a single youngster with low professionalism that made it big, but I can think of a whole talented players that threw their career like Balotelli, Cassano, among others.

If he had a good present Barcelona wouldnt be willing to let him go for cheap, simple as that.

Real let Sneijder and Robben go, big clubs can always let players go for various reasons. Barca aren't secure financially and, along with Dembele not playing alot, would be willing to let Dembele go for a value lower than his potential.

That logic doesn't make sense.

The way to know if he's good is to look at his performances, not whether or not Barcelona will let him go for cheap. There could be any number of reasons they'd let him go.

He is a child. That said, i would take him. Him, Pogba and Martial would be tasty. I think he would fit right into United. Ole's approach would do him good and he would have the two Frenchies plus Rashford, Mason, Bruno to get along with. Maybe even some other players. Look at the Martial-Bruno bromance.

Just keep him away from Shaw and his diet and we are good.

It's hard to generally believe the rumours regarding Barca players atm. If Ballache is to be believed Messi will be looking to leave this summer and this will have huge implications on the financial and football level for Barca. It all seems just rumour mill for now.

Neither Sneijder nor Robben had good season when they let them go, Im not saying its impossible for Dembele to be good afterwards but saying he's been good for Barca its simply not true.

He's played only 9 games this season, contributing with 1 goal total, how can anyone say thats good? Those are Alexis numbers with us.

Barcelona wants Dembele off its wage bill as much as we want the likes of Alexis and Rojo out, so I say we loan him with an option to buy at a bargain price. That way if he does not do the business we can send him back, and if he does we can snap him up for cheap. Barca's board will be desperate enough to accept that kind of deal. They have a responsibility under Barcelona's constitution not to leave the club's finances a mess or they incur personal liability. We can therefore take advantage of the upcoming Barcelona elections to force them into giving us a knock down asking price. Dembele has not had the best time in Catalonia and his injuries would be a worry. However, if its a loan with no obligation to buy we don't risk much by taking a punt on him. On his day he's a fantastic player.

Every time I see this thread on the first page, I worry there's a credible tweet / update :nervous:

This transfer would undermine everything Ole has strived to implement in terms of attitude, desire and implementation from his players. Regardless of his proposed talent ceiling prior to injuries. IMO.

I would be wary of going for a player who cant be arsed to get it together in sunny Spain playing for arguably the biggest club in the world alongside, also, arguably the best player ever.

Sancho and Dembele on loan with an option I would take that. No Sancho and buying or loaning Dembele is a no. Dembele is a 2 way gamble, you want him to reach his Dortmund levels or better whilst staying fit for a full season. He is talented so the form part won't be too much of an issue but the injuries are a whole different scenario.

Cant also compare the Robben situation. Bayern due to the nature of the Bundesliga could take the gamble as they would always finish at good spots. We can't take a gamble in a position we haven't filled for years.

Who knows? If we can’t get Sancho then we should absolutely take him on loan with an option to buy.

We’re all sat here giving our best guesses but in reality no of us have a clue how any transfers pan out. People wanted him while he was playing in France and then in Germany and now because he didn’t settle in Barcelona all of the sudden he’s a castoff. We know he had a bad injury and that alone could have contributed to off field problems — we shouldn't expect every player to be a consummate professional. People make mistakes, fall out of favour etc, that doesn’t mean that they’re beyond salvation. Saying all that Sancho has to be number one priority but if it doesn’t work out then get Dembele on loan with an option to buy 100%.

I’d take him if it was loan with option to buy only if we couldn’t get Sancho.

Oh there is no doubt that he hasn't been good for Barca. I thought the insinuation was that he isn't good anymore.

We agree on that he still has the potential to be a great player.

Manchester United 'view Ousmane Dembele as Jadon Sancho alternative' and more transfer rumours
FC Barcelona's Ousmane Dembele could reportedly be a Jadon Sancho alternative for Man Utd - this and more transfer gossip.

Manchester United are reportedly considering a move for Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele if they can't complete a deal for Jadon Sancho.

United have been in excellent form as of late and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hoping to build on that potential in the summer to turn his side into Premier League title contenders next season.

The Norwegian would ideally like to add a centre-midfielder, playmaker and winger to his squad and Borussia Dortmund star Sancho is his priority target after he enjoyed another top notch campaign in the Bundesliga.

However, Dortmund are remaining adamant that they won't let the 20-year-old go on the cheap which could potentially scupper a move to Old Trafford.

In that case, according to The Athletic, Barcelona's Dembele may prove to be a cheaper alternative as he has two years remaining on his contract.

Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, via SportWitness, add that the Frenchman could be available for as little as €60million, just three years after moving to Catalonia from Dortmund for £112.5million.

It's claimed that United were interested in Dembele when he made the switch to the Camp Nou in 2017 but were concerned with his injury record. If that's the case then it's hard to imagine that they have changed their minds over the last three years, as the 23-year-old has suffered a litany of injuries, especially with his hamstring, and is currently ruled out for the rest of the season having only made nine appearances.

M.E.N. Sport understands that Velez Sarsfield's Thiago Almada and Rabbi Matondo of Schalke are being considered as back-up options if Sancho can't be signed.

Meanwhile, West Ham and Everton are reportedly in a tussle to sign United man Jesse Lingard, according to reports.

Lingard has a year remaining on his United contract and could well seek pastures new this summer, after falling out of favour following a spell of poor form.

The Hammers are also considering a move for Phil Jones, claim the Independent, while West Brom are also linked with Lingard.

Was this written by the Caf? Seems like a bucket list of transfers, only need Smalling, Sanchez and Rojo on there

Also, they interchange from Euro to Sterling in same sentence. Very weird.

Given Ole's comments about not wanting 'assholes' I can't see this happening. It's a shame his body and attitude let him down cause he has all the tools to be a World XI level player.

If we can't get Sancho and Dembele is the only other option I would rather just give the role to Greenwood full time.

Wouldn’t mind Chiesa for 45-50m if we can’t get either.

Ferran Torres is another option and I would like to see Said Benrahma from Brentford in the PL next season (even if Brentford don't get promoted). I don't think he would cost more than 15m. Would be a good backup to Greenwood on the right flank.

Those who have seen him regular enough. Injuries aside and stupidity aside, on talent alone would you say he's better than Sancho? By a lot? Marginal? Or is Sancho the more talented?

Based on both their time at Dortmund, they are quite equal. Sancho is probably slightly ahead but he was there longer. Dembele was very exciting at Rennes, and also at times at Dortmund but he's struggled at Barcelona and all the stories of his lack of professionalism are quite worrying. A big transfer fee for him would be too much of a risk, a loan with an option to buy might be a good move if we can't agree a fee with Dortmund for Sancho.

Looks like Torres is going to City to replace Sane.

Loan with an option to buy.
Barca won’t be looking for an option to purchase, it’ll be a commitment to buy or just a loan with zero agreements at the end.
If he can get his head down and focus on developing, then take up yoga or something to help prevent his constant injuries, then he could be a good signing. But as of now he’s yet another Dortmund sale flop.
