Actually, COVID saved our season. If there was no break, Pogba and Rashford don’t come back in time, Greenwood doesn’t bulk up and we fall away down the stretch despite Bruno.

And you are what? Footballing royalty? There are already a couple of examples of how the mighty have fallen, keep living in the past. You were lucky, saved by VAR. Otherwise, it would have been the 4th time you finished outside top4 in the past 5 years. I guess we will see next season how deserving of top 4 is Utd compared to Chelsea. We will see who is getting there and who is not.

Can't talk about being lucky when Chelsea lost to Manchester United two times this season: 4-0 and 2-0. It added 6 goals into Manchester United GD and reduced 6 goals into Chelsea GD. That head-to-head alone contributed massively into why United finished higher than Chelsea. Let that sink in.

So don't go on about who is lucky and more deserving of top 4. Because Chelsea, out of all teams, have no right to question Manchester United about that after their beatdown this season on both legs.

We do, but so do the others so. I think it's the same at the end.

Mate... stop.

We are guests in a United forum, why are you having a go at it about members having bias towards United? The same would happen in a Chelsea forum, more bias towards our team and against United.
This is a United forum first and foremost, cant forget that.

Simple concept but that's so difficult to understand.

This is ManUtd forum with 1000+ ManUtd fans, obviously you will see biased views and how we are the greatest views, it would be odd if we don't see this on any forums.

I like how Chelsea is on this rocket upward trajectory and we're miles behind them (despite beating them thrice and finishing higher in the league, with double goal difference).

Astute signings (Sancho + CB) would give United arguably the youngest, most exciting attack in the world, and solidify what was the third best defensive record in the league.

Is there something wrong with VAR doing its job?

If anything it proves that Utd have the most dynamic attack and opposition are forced to foul them. And few opposition defenders have been as hapless against our attack as have Chelsea's.

They would probably probably feel the same way about us. I don't think either Lampard or Ole and their teams has shown immense potential. Both could kick in to bigger things but also easily end up in failing.
Yeh they probably will but honestly it’s hard to look past Utds front three (4 including Bruno) and not see something really special emerging. Great attacks win leagues and Utds has just had its first season together, it’s only up from here.

What?
Our momentum is that great before the C19 break. Without Rash and Pogba. No problems at all scoring goals and mercilessly rip apart teams.

Spurs lost key players in those times.
Leicester and City started to drifting before the break.
Pool were in horrid form, so the break helped them the most.

I think you've forgotten that we were mid-way down our "unbeaten run" by then, clobbering Manchester City 2-0 at home befor the break. I think you're doing the squad a bit of a disservice here. You forget that the reason we tired in the end here is the grueling match program and lack of squad rotation over the "If it works dont fix it" approach

Who were you before a Russian Oligarch bought the club and started funneling money into it like he was playing Football Manager with cheat codes? Sit down.

I don't think mocking a team for having bad referees is quite the sweet insult like you might think.

I don't know why people seem to be getting so excited about finishing third above Chelsea due to goal difference; it isn't anything to shout home about. It is the lowest points total needed to reach top four since the 90s from what I have seen. Both teams were lucky that the top of the league was so weak.

It is good having Champions League, but this argument about who is more deserving is pointless. Fact is that both teams got it in the same number of points.

Besides, I thought people on here saw no difference between 2nd, 3rd, and 4th; I remember that was the case when we finished 2nd. All are automatic qualification anyway.

I didn't see you using "League is poor" excuse in your analysis in Spurs thread, wonder why.

Maybe because we were 8 points off third when we came back from lockdown.

Maybe because we were 14 points behind 3rd In January with a GD of +7

You’re closer to Sunderland than us in terms of history. You’re lower than Leeds and Forest too, and would be nowhere near them without Eastern European funding. It’s not unreasonable ridicule.
I thought this thread was about top4 race and the conclusion of this season. Why are we discussing how many titles Sunderland or Leeds or Forest have previously won?

I didn't want to trigger the online warriors with my previous post, that's for sure. I was just replying to a ridiculous post - I replied to banter with banter, nothing personal.

As for the biased vision, I totally get it, no worries, but I do try to reply to the unreasonable ones. I totally respect a balanced vision even if it is biased, but when people exaggerate, then I call them out.

No problem with that. You’re clearly bigger than the likes of Sunderland, and have probably overtaken the latter two (maybe not Leeds) after Roman and Mourinho came in.

Back to the thread, I think it’s good for England that United and Chelsea have made it. All respect to Leicester but they’ve been doggo for 7 months, and whose best player and world class striker has a maximum of 2 top seasons left in him.

Because it was irrelevant to what I was speaking about. I was talking about Mourinho turning it around, which he did. That does not mean that the league is not weak; in fact, Tottenham dropping off so far just emphasises that league has weakened. Mourinho has done well in the grand scheme of things, but that does not mean that they do not need to improve massively next year.

I think there are a lot of teams this season that needs to look at their performances and improve upon it next year. Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manutd have all had some awful parts to the season. It is better for us and Chelsea though as we managed to at least take advantage of the weak league and get top four. Performance-wise, over the course of the season, it has not been good enough for any of those teams.

Of course it is, like I said, when we like the manager, we can twist everything and look for positives and for other way around we can look for negatives.

That wasn't strictly true anyway. If United had finished 4th and Chelsea 5th but had won CL (very unlikely) and Wolves win the EL (far from impossible) then 4th would not have been good enough for CL next season. Not much of an argument but I was told it was fct.

City qualified with 66 points also only 4 years ago.
