But the president added that the club would have to sell players.

"There is money but Covid-19 has reduced income so we have to reduce payroll to be able to bring in new footballers," he said.

From the BBC article about them hiring Koeman.

So who do you want? Who's going to turn out to be a bargain for someone down the line?

I think the two Frenchmen - Dembele & Umtiti will do well outside of Barcelona. If someone can keep Umtiti fit, they've got a quality defender on their hands. Same for Dembele.

Not for sale :

The players not for sale are Messi, Ter Stegen, Griezmann, Lenglet, De Jong, Semedo and Dembélé. And the kids.

Umtiti and Dembele seem crocked though.

Constantly dealing with injury woes. Not sure I'd take either. Maybe on loans.

He said in the same interview that Dembele isn't for sale. Wouldn't go anywhere near Umtitti, his knee is in very bad condition. I'm sure there was a report saying Barca told him to get surgery on it, he didn't listen and went to the WC instead and now it's worse.

None. The ones Bartomeu earmarked as staying are the only players who would be of any interest.

Considering how fecked they are financially, I don't think they'll have much of a choice really.

He clearly said Dembele is staying.

Make a list of the players he didn't mention and then we can decide.

I think Liverpool should take Vidal. They need some depth, he pretty much offers what Keita has failed to give them & he's a complete bellend so will fit in well with the club.

Sergi Roberto could be a good utility player. Junior Firpo could give decent competition at LB. Apart from those two, I don't really see any others who would be upgrades.

Think it just shows how bad there recruitment has been that with the lack of depth in our squad let alone 2/3 positions in the starting eleven being weak that WE are stuggling to name players we would take.

Aprt from the kids vrtually all of there good players are really ageing. I would take DeJong who wont be for sale, apart from that I dont particularly rate any of there players under 30, Dembele on loan maybe would be about it. We dont need him but I think Semedo is a good player.

Hard to think of a top club whose transfer strategy has been as bad as Barcelona's. Loads of aging players tied up in long contracts on huge wages that are incredibly difficult to move on. Arsenal's is pretty bad I guess.

@Skills you should put the name of the players not for sale in the OP.

Surely some of these guys available would help strengthen our bench? Issue is would they be motivated or would it just be a chance to collect a cheque.

Offer them what they paid or so for De Jong. They won't want to sell but will struggle to get good money for any of the older players and will likely have both Busquets and Pjanic in their squad next season. Offer the Dutchman the holding role here. Maybe not particularly likely but it could be tempting for both club and player, and would be a fantastic signing for United.

Let's have Alba and Pique.

Of the ones that are supposedly available maybe Firpo. I liked him at Betis. Alba is good but I'm not sure he'd be as good for us. At least not relative to the age, cost and performance of the two.

Coutinho is pretty good, Dembele got promise and Pique still got something left in him but these guys are just so expensive. Barca wages are no joke.

Their players which aren't for sale are injury prone, ageing, massive wages. Just not worth the investment, don't need them.

May be Pique if he's available less than 10m euro since one or two years of him will still better than Bailly, Rojo & Jones. And I rate him higher than Lindelof at the current level. No injuries in the last two seasons which impressive. It seems Barcelona is interested to sell him for rebuild with younger defenders.

Definitely not Umtiti. The guy is already injured before 20/21 starts, no more injury prone. Pique now is still better option to have than Umtiti.

Ansu Fati is a quality player. Very promising young player, we should go for him.

I'd take Suarez. We could use some more bite upfront.
No chance after the Evra things. And he has no leg to press so don't think we even need him. Still top finisher if he has the ball in the box.

Why on earth is Barcelona paying them so much? Given their prestige and the relative lack of competition at signing surely such massive wages weren’t necessary to incentivize the player?

I've heard that Puig is a superb young midfielder but I doubt they'd let him go.

Based on the following Bartomeu statement:

“He’ll stay. Messi, Ter Stegen, Lenglet, Semedo, De Jong, Griezmann and Démbélé are not for sale”. J. Bartomeu also added that “Coutinho can stay here, if Koeman want him”

For the available ones I would go for either Jordi Alba or Junior Firpo and Semedo.

Also if possible I would go for Coutinho, dont care he used to play at Liverpool he's class and should be available for around 60M.

The rest are either on a clear decline while overpaid or simply not good enough.
