But isn't that the point of FFP, to stop rich owners just pumping cash into clubs, you are supposed to only spend what you've earned in revenue.
For sure. If Chelsea make bigger losses, they'll start face more FFP troubles. Abramovich is only pumping money in to ensure that they don't sink lower and miss out on more revenue. That's the risk that he's willing to take.

Chelsea also didn’t spend any money for 2 consecutive transfer windows and this was after they sold Hazard. They have also had CL revenue for consecutive years

This is his latest tweet just now. According to him the deal is now off. What a turn around in his ITK stories.

He's saying the deal is done, but for some reason we'll brief tonight that it's off.
He's not changed his story.

Right, but I used to think that the money would come from their operations. Nope, it's mostly from Abramovich. They're probably going big now because of the market being somewhat impacted by COVID-19 and Abramovich not spending his hundreds of millions last summer for Chelsea (besides Kovacic).

This genius from the Independent

Elsewhere Manchester United may have discovered their alternative to Jadon Sancho, who looks primed to remain in Dortmund this term, with Ansu Fati an option and his £155m release clause not putting off the Red Devils.

So we baulk at 108m for Sancho, yet will go higher for someone else.
Amazing.
That too for a 17 year old  I am sure many people here can write more believable rumors than the papers.

Some of the headlines the media come out with are laughable.

Sky Sports reporting today that "If utd dont sign Sancho this summer, theres a chance he will never become a united player"........Obvious Central!

Obviously if we'd don't sign him now, theres 2 possibilities.....he becomes a united player or he never becomes a united player. You would never have guessed there was a "chance" for either hey?

Does that message say “word on redcafe”?
Of course. That other bloke posted about this "briefing" earlier on this thread. This "info" then made it's way into the Twattersphere. And now it is posted here as some kind of proof. Seems like the Caf has finally caused a quantum singularity. Was nice knowing you all.

Mad isn’t it! As if you wouldn’t just write a story about Traore or someone?
That would be more the textbook stuff.

Think - what position do United need - then just whack off a few vaguely realistic moves.

60m for Traore etc

altodevil said:
United now briefing we are no longer in for him - Dortmund feel too late (eh?) to source replacement.
and ran with it.

In the last three seasons, the champions got 100, 98, and 99 points. So yes, a title challenge can be pretty much over in the first few games. In 07/08, United dropped 7 points in the first three games. To beat 2017/18 Manchester City from that position, out of the remaining 35 games they would have had to win 32 and draw three.

You can't really afford to drop a lot of points at any stretch of the season these days.
This. Thanks for doing my reply for me!

What is this? Why are you posting that when we haven't yet?
I used "if". Someone posted some random tweet that we are going to brief that but it is still on. There is no brief, that comment was just an observation of our previous briefs

I thought we’d all gone through that, it was a crappy ITK account, sorry it read as though you were agreeing we’d briefed something.

Only Martial is really a pure striker. Greenwood has the quick-feet and intelligence to be equally as effective on the wing, and Rashford is actually better suited to the wing than through the middle.

With Sancho costing £110m there is no "+ 1 more". A far more economical player should be bought to address our overreliance on Greenwood.
martial out of greenwood is a better wide man but either way all 3 are strikers first
We should sign someone who knows how to play the position
We’d definitely have money to spend plus sancho, players will leave, maybe just one more but signing squad players is not the answer
Every single team signs squad players, the champions sign players who improve the first team

Why are you acting like Sancho is the key for anything ? He's a great player alright but imo, there're positions in the team that need more signings than the attack anyway. Not getting Sancho and we'll still have Greenwood there. Meanwhile we have only Matic as a legit DMF for example.

Sancho will be a great addition but it's not worth wasting the entire market time just chasing him and entering the season with him as our only signing.
Because we don’t have a single right winger
Greenwood is a kid and a striker first, winger second and only because there no other option that’s worth playing there
We have options for midfield, Fred McTom both done well in there, we have not one first choice winger

I say hand over £150m to Barcelona and get Ansu.

Do. It.
Wouldn’t be surprised if we did do that tbh as it does sound something stupid that Ed would do.

Baulk at paying Dortmund £108M for Sancho but pay an even bigger transfer fee worth £150M for Fati.

He's not wrong
He's presumptuous and a tool. I'd rather complain that Ole hasn't been backed if we don't see quality players through the door in 5 weeks, or it be briefed as such from now. But neither of that his happening, so yeah he's being a presumptuous bellend.
