Why is that morale requirement? Most of our previous captains have had some problems in private life - Cantona, Keane, Giggs, Rooney. Separate football matters from private life.

As they say in PSG, if a player is punished because of a doggy night out, there won't be anyone left to start.

Uniteds captains since Ferguson retired has been pointless. A starting point for a captain is to show leadership qualities on the field and looking at the first choice United team I can only think of Bruno who has what is required.

Excuse me, but what has he done to deserve that. Or rather what do he bring to the table that qualify him as a captain??
It is clear that Pereira is a way better option!

Fernandes. We were a completely different team after he turned up and gave us the edge and winning mentality we've been missing for years. You can see on the pitch that he'll help organize the team and isnt afraid to make sure a popular player knows when something isnt good enough so they'll make sure not to do it again. It doesnt hurt that he's used to the responsibility of being captain of his team. As far as I'm concerned we pin our battle standard to him and have maximum influence over the next few years. We have other players with the same skill like Pogba and someone might argue that we might have players with the same organization or leadership skills, although we dont see it on the pitch, like Maguire. But Bruno Fernandes has shown both since he signed for us and thats what makes him special and why he has had the impact he has had. He's one of those skilled and effective players you would want in the team for that alone, but on top of it he's the determined and "do the work" type of player who is going to demand high workrate and performance levels of his teammates as well.

Fernandes might be slightly too new, may have to be Rashford for actually representing the club well.

Captaincy doesn't mean much aside from public status, Fernandes would still be the pivotal figure regardless of captaincy.

Fernandes seems like the kind of person who would react negatively if his sister was injected with a date rape drug. Not captain material.

No need to change anything in terms of captaincy

Maybe Lindelof? He catches thief and protects old lady's handbag. He is a hero.

Should never have been Captain in the first place and certainly should be stripped of the captaincy now .
This is Manchester United not a Sunday League team

If the club and Ole feel Maguire was hard done by in Greece, then it would be bad tactics to give the armband to anyone else. It will be interpreted as a rebuke against Maguire. Mind otherwise too, who cares about an off-field issue.. our team is just developing, there is no reason to strip off captaincy from Maguire just after one season.

Didn't he do some stuff off the pitch this season that got applauded on here a couple of times at least? I can't remember what they were exactly but I know it happened and he was getting lauded for doing it.

Don't jump to conclusions and don't forget Fergie actually bailed Keane out of jail one morning after a night out.
He kicked at some Chelsea-player and then lied about it after the game, that was honorable stuff from a so-called captain.

If anything good can come out of him punching a bunch of cops in the face, it's that he punched his way straight into our hearts as the captain of our team.
