People should've seen the natural mistakes Rio was making in his first few seasons for West Ham.

Keep in mind that these are kneejerk posts by the usual suspects. Their opinion on all subject is worthless. Now Badiashile isn't ready for a move and he shouldn't move, at least not to a big club.
I hope they are wrong if we really are in for him.

I can't claim to have watched anything but a youtube highlight. But seems he is prone to mistakes like any teenage defender would be.

The only issue is that at Old Trafford, every mistake is magnified 1000x and splashed across the front pages. I fear that expectations and criticism could break a young man who isn't strong enough.

People should have seen the mistakes he made in his first 2 season at Manchester United. How quick we are to forget.

He was absolutely destroyed in the press and by pundits/journos/fans alike. Similar to what Maguire is going through right now but I'd say probably worse.

Silly really.

He is talented, but important to keep in mind that young players make mistakes.

Anyways, if we buy him he is not going to replace Lindelof next season at least.

According to French outlet RMC Sport, Manchester United have registered a ‘strong interest’ in Monaco’s Benoît Badiashile.

United are said to be competing with Valencia and Bayer Leverkusen for the centre-back, while Rennes have just had a 15 million Euro bid rejected.

Here is a closer look at the potential Manchester United addition…

1) Badiashile plays for Monaco and has made 20 starts this past season. He also made 20 starts in 2018/19.

2) The left-footed centre-back is just 19-years-old and he has represented France at international level from under-16 to the under-19s.

3) Badiashile was recently nominated for Europe’s Golden Boy Award, along with Mason Greenwood, Angel Gomes and James Garner.

4) He stands tall at an intimidating 6 foot 4″. This advantage helps him win an average of 3.5 aerial duels per game this season.

5) Badiashile signed a contract extension with Monaco last December. His deal now runs through until June 2024.

Would he be a good signing?
Badiashile was loosely linked with Manchester United last summer and he is the type of prospect a lot of top clubs will have an eye on.

He has the physical and stylistic attributes United like. He is strong, quick, and he likes to play out from the back.

At United he would not be expected to start right away, he would join the queue of defensive talent, to compete with Axel Tuanzebe and Teden Mengi.

Yet with Tuanzebe becoming worryingly injury prone in his debut season, United do need depth, with the likes of Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling all likely to be sold this summer.

If Tuanzebe’s injury problems concern the coaching staff, then it is likely United will look to strengthen in this department this summer, especially with Eric Bailly’s own troubled injury history a lurking problem.

Badiashile is the type of prospect who it could be worth taking a chance on, especially if Monaco need a quick sale.

United have also been linked with Swansea’s Joe Rodon, via The Mirror, and Badiashile would fit into the same category as a developmental prospect who can compete, add depth, and hopefully eventually turn into a regular starter in a few years.

There is no way to know for sure if Badiashile would or would not be a success, but at just 19, with 40 professional starts under his belt already, he is on the right track.

Would be an odd signing. I'm all for taking punts on young promising players but we've already got a collection of the prior experiments sat around as duds.

With Mengi and Tuanzebe coming through it feels like money better spent elsewhere.

Well his record obviously isn't great but I doubt we've given up on him already.

If we have decent funds avaliable this summer and we're offloading two or three CBs then I'm all for it.

No. Shaw has been here for the past 6 years while Jones is heading for his testimonial. That's United's standard in terms of dealing with crocks.

Risky relying on a young CB. There will be frustrating mistakes along the way but as long as fans are patient, he could develop well playing with Maguire. The Martial numbers being suggested are ridiculous but it should get done in the range of €30 to €35 million.

Anyone with fantastic injury history record is good investment for young player.

I agree, he'd be nothing but a back up at this moment in time, we need an upgrade on what we have to add depth, not hope another youngster comes good.
In fairness his head may be elsewhere. Wouldn’t be the first to be affected by transfer talk. He is very raw though, he isn’t going to be going straight into the first team.
Guys, I`m not trying to throw him under the bus here. I haven't really seen him play other than the occasional youtube video and can't comment on his overall skill. Just noting what i saw in that particular video.

Might have been an off game for him and he is a young player.

Wasn't that reported around a month ago? We've been watching him for a couple of years as well

This won't happen. Monaco will want too much money for him and we'll walk away as we're working on a budget.
According to sources 22m Euros turned down and they will accept a 'Martial like fee.'
Many think a fee of around 40/50m Euros will secure him. That's if we want to go for potential

It's time to stop wasting energy on waiting for Tuanzebe to come good. He's clearly a perma-crock.

As for this guy, he's obviously too raw to start for us right now so it's a signing for the future. Hopefully we don't pay too much.

Strange player to be linked to. If our scouts rate him then I guess we should too.
He's been watched for a couple of years now so not 'strange' in the slightest.

I'm just thinking that if we have Mengi and Axel, buying Badass kind of leaves them in the lurch a bit

Like someone above has said can we really trust Axel to stay fit though

I haven't seen enough of him, so maybe someone who's seen a lot of him can say if he can be cover for Shaw at left back, in which case I can understand why we are after him. What I have seen of him he is quite quick.

Axel is 22 isn’t he? Mengi is clearly very highly rated at the club, I doubt this will influence his development. I would prefer a more experienced defender though.

He looks the real business from those youtube comps. The size, quickness and ability on the ball remind me of a bigger Vertonghen.

Only option on the table who fits that is Koulibaly and with them being busy now with Messi maybe we can step in

Sounds like a Martial-type signing. Young but already with a few seasons under his belt.

That said, I don't expect to sign anyone except for Sancho.

We all love United
Think we will loan him back to Monaco for another year if we sign him. No way he’s starting ahead of Bailly/Lindelof/Maguire

There's United tax all over again. As soon as we inquire about a player, their fee goes up the roof. As if Monaco would have asked for that kind of fee from Leverkusen.
