He's as healthy as it gets so hoping he will be closer to the asymptomatic side of the spectrum.
We couldn’t last season tbf, so +Bruno -Pogba, considering we look like we aint signing Sancho, doesn’t exactly reassure me. The state of us is really shit right now.If we can't beat Palace at home without any one player we're really in for a struggle this season.
Contrary to popular belief, elite athletes are quite often more vulnerable to mild diseases than your average fit and healthy person. He's as healthy as it gets so hoping he will be closer to the asymptomatic side of the spectrum.
Ok I don’t know much about this self-isolating thing, but if he only recovers in a week or two, I think he has to keep self-isolating for two more weeks after that, almost certainly ruling him out of the Palace game.I hope he'll recover soon, I guess he'll be all right in a week or 2, hopefully negative.
It may damper our start of our season and I hope there wont be more players positive.
I'd be interested in seeing some evidence of this.Contrary to popular belief, elite athletes are quite often more vulnerable to mild diseases than your average fit and healthy person.
I'll try and find the long read I read a few years ago on it. Basically it boiled down to regular exercise and a good diet being excellent for you, but the demands of being an elite athlete can have negative effects for your health and your immune system. Basically you can be fit to compete at an elite level, but still unhealthy - and vice versa.I'd be interested in seeing some evidence of this.
Yeah, you're right.Ok I don’t know much about this self-isolating thing, but if he only recovers in a week or two, I think he has to keep self-isolating for two more weeks after that, almost certainly ruling him out of the Palace game.
The article cites research on the topic, but doesn't provide any links to the actual research. The World Player's Association seems to thinks so: link
it's not, and dammit i'll keep making sure people are aware of this when I see that posted on here!In other news water is wet
Ugh, next you'll be saying the Earth isn't flat.it's not, and dammit i'll keep making sure people are aware of this when I see that posted on here!
evidence?Pogba has had multiple medicals. The last one being 4 years ago before he made an 89 million pound move. If they didn't detect anything with his health, then I'm not sure what the point of those medicals are.
If his wife didn't think there would be a chance of her catching the virus then maybe she needs to think more.
Healthy young people die of other things too and the real number of deaths we will never truly know as some hospitals are incentivized to report covid deaths. Keep living in fear and hysteria though, only 2 more weeks I promise.
Woah woah woah... This thread's gone to pot altogetherUgh, next you'll be saying the Earth isn't flat.
Pogba should have done more to prevent the infection! What will Souness say!
Never quite agreed with his massive transfer fee, but do wish him well.I’m a massive fan but if I wasn’t ...
Of course hospitals are incentivised to report COVID deaths. Most health systems will have a list of notifiable diseases that are a legal requirement to report because of the danger of them spreading. That’s basic health protection and not tinfoil hat craziness.evidence?
Pogba.. you know.. he has so much potential, but you've got to question his attitude if he isn't keeping himself locked in a cube 24 hours a day to prevent getting coronavirus. He left himself wide open there Gary! if I were Ole Gunnar Solskjaer I'd have serious questions for him.. err.. from a distance. What will Souness say!
Should have probably white-texted.Woah woah woah... This thread's gone to pot altogether
Over exercise surpresses the immune system.I'll try and find the long read I read a few years ago on it. Basically it boiled down to regular exercise and a good diet being excellent for you, but the demands of being an elite athlete can have negative effects for your health and your immune system. Basically you can be fit to compete at an elite level, but still unhealthy - and vice versa.
I was joking mateShould have probably white-texted.
Let's get this back on track...
Pogba is a cool dude.
I don't understand how requiring hospitals to report cases of harmful and infectious diseases incentivises them to do so.Of course hospitals are incentivised to report COVID deaths. Most health systems will have a list of notifiable diseases that are a legal requirement to report because of the danger of them spreading. That’s basic health protection and not tinfoil hat craziness.

Only read the conclusion but that just talks about 'regular or frequent exercise' which is different to pushing your body to the absolute limits.
"Indeed, to this day, it is perceived by many that a vigorous bout of exercise can temporarily suppress immune function. In the first part of this review, we deconstruct the key pillars which lay the foundation to this theory—referred to as the “open window” hypothesis—and highlight that: (i) limited reliable evidence exists to support the claim that vigorous exercise heightens risk of opportunistic infections; (ii) purported changes to mucosal immunity, namely salivary IgA levels, after exercise do not signpost a period of immune suppression; and (iii) the dramatic reductions to lymphocyte numbers and function 1–2 h after exercise reflects a transient and time-dependent redistribution of immune cells to peripheral tissues, resulting in a heightened state of immune surveillance and immune regulation, as opposed to immune suppression."Only read the conclusion but that just talks about 'regular or frequent exercise' which is different to pushing your body to the absolute limits.
Care to back that up with some sort of peer reviewed study?Contrary to popular belief, elite athletes are quite often more vulnerable to mild diseases than your average fit and healthy person.
As far as we know he's asymptomatic.Very likely to be mild but it’s the long term impacts that are less known. He’s only just got back to fitness to, been very good last three games for us. Wish him a super speedy recovery!
Fair enough."Indeed, to this day, it is perceived by many that a vigorous bout of exercise can temporarily suppress immune function.
