Smalling has got used to being a starter again. Doubt he will want to go back to the occasional game from the bench.
I’ll have that.

I’m not sure how I’d feel about him starting for us again. I haven’t seen enough good things from any of his competitors to say he couldn’t tie a starting berth down.

If he can stay fit, which he normally does, he’s automatically better than Bailly, Jones and Tuanzebe.

And, I don’t think he is any worse than Lindelof, which I appreciate isn’t the best argument to play him but we have much bigger needs than a CB this summer, IMO, and the transfer funds should be concentrated on those areas

Upamecano is the cb we always should have been targeting imo but this doesn't make much sense to me. He literally just signed a new contract which removed his buy out clause. I think this is bs unfortunately and if it's not bs wtf were we doing? We could have signed him cheaper just 1 month ago. It would essentially be like the Fellaini deal years ago and I'd like to think we learned from that terrible mistake.

Yes and you just got click baited by him.
Eh? I didn't. I wanted to read whether he was aware of the clause and what basis he might have had for saying we were interested. I got the information I wanted. You seem to be massively against journalists in general, why don'y you feck off from transfer tweets and stick to the tweet only thread if you just want confirmed news?

I'm sure he is available at the right price.
80m? 100m? His old release clause this year was 45m pounds, can't see RB Leipzig is selling him anywhere near his original release clause when the player just being offered and signed new contract to get rid the release clause for a year.

Would that include Bruno in the January transfer window? Also we did sell Lukaku for a hefty fee which we haven't done this year. But we have got rid of Sanchez permanently, surely that's got to count for something!

Just because I am massively against one guy who is non-sense doesn't mean you can call it ''general''. You seem to have some issue today because I have spoiled your day with fact.

You gave feck all facts  Outside of a presumptuous post suggesting he was ignorant to the release clause, of course.

The fact is Dayot signed a new contract which could only means one thing, he committed his future with RB Leipzig for another year which was my point in my original post. What about you re-read my original post when I made clear statement about it, stop arguing because you clearly missed the point.

You suggested with this point that that he wouldn't move now because he signed an extension. You also said "mark ogden is clueless" and followed it with the above statement, suggesting he was somewhat unaware. This was incorrect and extensions don't always mean a player is unattainable, as Mark Ogden explains in his article. I read your statement clearly, move along.

Can you read?

Ogden is clueless. Dayot just signed a new contract means the new contract has no release clause can be activated until next year and it also means that the player decided to commit his future for another year with RB Leipzig

There seem to be plenty of takers for Chris, Rojo is wanted in Argentina, but nobody wants to pay. Jones? Is he actually fit? Not sure he would risk getting rid of Bailly or we would be short again.
You could say a lot about Jones - but he would still strengthen a lot of clubs at the bottom or at the top in the Championship. Strange if not one of those clubs would make a bit for £7-8 million

Clearly you can't. I said Ogden isn't clueless because he addresses this. An extension is does not always mean hands off, and that no deal can be done. Christ just move on mate
I'm well aware of that which is why I said he's clueless because if a player has committed a future with the club for another year then he's not leaving this year. Simple, not rocket science

Any deal in this situation can only be done with massive transfer fees that is way beyond his 60m euro which was the previous release clause.

They're giving away players for free and are a complete mess. I wouldn't even trust them to honor their obligation to buy. And certainly not for 16M

VDB, Upamecano and Sancho is a FIFA type dream window  , I'll be amazed and quite apologetic to the board if they're able to somehow pull it off. It would be the kind of answer to all our top rivals strengthening a serious and ambitious club would try to make.

Case and point, as we know Liverpool were very interested in the player.
We also know they are also very interested in Thiago. We also know as Klopp has mentioned that they don't have much funds to spend this summer
Not quite sure what you're getting at here.
The fact that Liverpool would rather not take the gamble with their funds on Werner or Thiago?
I'd question why that is?

Can't imagine that if Upamecano was indeed available for the right price this window several other big clubs wouldn't be in for him.

Like who? Some already spent shitloads of money, others don’t have funds to spend

Maybe he signed the contract to get a better deal, rather than through loyalty.
Also maybe RB wanted him to sign the deal to get rid of the release clause so they can get a better deal for him this window, not because they don't want to sell him?

The fact their manager has said they have an issue with funds which I already mentioned should be a massive clue

So they don't want to buy a supposedly world class player with the funds they have.
I struggle to understand that rational unless there's an ulterior reason for it, for example, Thiago isn't the world class player people on here make him out to be?
