This stands out to me. Ole is reportedly very keen on bringing in English players but every English player we've been linked with is valued way to high. Why? Is it marketability due to playing in their domestic league? I still believe we should sign Sancho and i still think Grealish should be someone we're after but at the reported fees it's no wonder the board have been hesitant to pull the trigger when you look at the DVB and Bruno fees. Two great players at a very reasonable fee.

Now my favourite Donny after Osmond and Wahlberg.

Very pleased with this type of signing. The guy will give consistent performances which we really need.

On like Donnky Kong.

Headline when we he wins his first of many penalties: Van de Sneak

Awful nickname by Liverpool fans: Van de Reek

The first reason is money. The amount of TV money PL teams receive makes it more difficult to snatch their best players. The huge drop in TV money that relegation brings makes those clubs more reluctant to sell those players.
The second reason is self-fulfilling prophecy. The idea of an English tax is so ingrained in our thinking that every club immediately inflates their fees when a domestic rival comes sniffing. This approach works often enough that most teams chance their arm.

“Spiritual successor”
I think he's got more chances of becoming Robson's successor tbh. VDB is a fighter on the pitch, he's technically gifted, he's strong and he's quite brave.

An excellent acquisition. Thankfully we managed to stay away from any drama and just get it done for a nice price.

Interested to see how he fits in, but it’s great to feel like we’re heading towards one or two injuries not ruining our season.

People keep comparing him to Keane and Robson. There's a difference between being an attacker or attacking midfielder who can press and someone with real quality defensively. Can we be a proper box to box CM?

Clearly very highly thought of by both ex/current pros and the media, hopefully he warrants the hype

You can gauge the kind of guy he is by asking for a shirt number to pay tribute to an ex-team mate who suffered a tragedy.

Superb signing tbh. I'm going to enjoy the hell out of watching United games, especially you also land Sancho. Top 4 is going to be interesting.
Hopefully he settles quite quickly into the premier league, he will relish coming up against your ziyech should be interesting fight for top 4.

Robson was a complete midfielder. He was mint both defensively and attacking wise. VDB is technically an attacking minded player. He is brilliant in that. However he had shown more defensive awareness then most B2b players of his age. Of course we are comparing a football icon to a 23 year old kid which in itself is unfair

For those who are interested, this video shows a lot of footage of him and Nouri. I don’t know whether they did that puposely, or for the sheer fact that if you look at footage of Donny in the academy, Nouri is probably gonna be right beside him. Just from watching this on my mobile phone, i could easily identify 4-5 moments of him linking up with Nouri in play, celebrating after a goal.

3 years on and that shit still hurts. Donny is amazing, but Nouri was the prodigy. So, so loved on and off the pitch. Great gesture of Donny playing with #34

Hes a proper box to box CM for sure. Excellent tackling, stamina, work rate while being a very talented and intelligent player as well.

Wasn't just a teammate, was a really good friend. Really close to his family as well. Donny spend a lot of time with the family after it happened, at their home, even slept in Nouri's bed sometimes to support Nouri's brother. What happened with Nouri was really hard on Donny, struggled with it for a long time.
