Would Reguilon, Umtiti and VDB (for a total cost of around €60m) be classed as a good transfer window?

I think that'd be an incredible trio of signings in terms of profile, age, cost in the current climate and will give our squad the depth it needs.
I wouldn’t touch umtiti with a barge pole unless it’s a pay as you play contract, otherwise he will be yet another high earner stinking up the medics room

It is exaggeration as you didn't mention this season, again if you did it would have been silly point considering one player missed most of the season.

You are not in for Pogba as you can't afford him. World doesn't revolve around Madrid.
I said we spend 350 million euros last season.
There is not doubt that our club is careful to not spend any money this season because of Covid 19. However Pogba is not wanted desperately anymore for the reason i stated above. You dont get value for money.

Edit: btw you have already paid 130 million for Hazard, with max around 160 million is possible if all add ons are met.
It was a report originated from Belgium because his former club Tubize is involved in some sort of fraud. Most likely that club is cooking numbers.

Yeah pay as you play would be the only sensible option for him no doubt about that at all

Some of you need to realise we are clearly going with the strategy of 2-3 signings per window rather than a huge overhaul. Doing what Chelsea are doing has not worked for us in the past and I think they will struggle to really make it work to the max. Last Summer and in Jan for the first time in years we finally made signings that weren’t monumental flops and were actually pretty good.

If we only sign 3 players this Summer, all in positions we need (like this guy) and they work out as well as AWB, Maguire and Fernandes have we will be well on our way. Signing 7 players and throwing the money about would break what I think is the best harmony we’ve had in our squad for ages mainly because of the recent change in recruitment strategy. We look to be more of a United team.

The reason I’d question this one is our strategy seems to be focusing on young players who desperately want to play for United and I think this guy would prefer Real (just a hunch obviously I’m clueless).

The only top team in England I can see going for Umtiti would be Spurs and that move itself wont be a permanent transfer.

No disrespect but United is a tier below RM and He is not even the best player at United.
Madrid has been better than Utd for years but I don't think you have a better team currently, you haven't been the same without Ronaldo. Lots of aging players and it appears you don't have the money to rebuild, I wouldn't be so confident if I was you.

Hazard number was widely reported that with add ons it will be 150-160 million, also reliable Belgian reporters reported 130 million is already paid.

That is partially true. The Market has changed, so RM cannot go out and buy the best players from other teams like in the 00's. FFP does not allow that either.

It's also true that Real Madrid has to replace some absolute legends like Marcelo, Ramos, Modric and Benzema in the near future. And we are currently not a top european team. However RM also started planning for the future 1-2 seasons ago by buying young and promising players. Militao, Mendy, Ødegaard, Velverde, Rodrygo, Vinicious, Jovic, Reineir, Brahim Diaz and Kubo are all regarded as big talents. No guarantee that they will fulfil their potential, but RM are aware of not getting caught on the wrong foot when the stars retire. RM are also in for Camavinga and Cherki. The big transfer target is Mbappe.

I agree that this United team is the best looking from the past 5-6 years.

I have a feeling he’s going to sign for us. No buy out clause but if we did sell, RM would get first option. Similar deal to the one we have in place for Depay.

A LB is more important than a CB for me so bring him in to rotate with Shaw.

To the people who are saying he is barely an upgrade on shaw.. we don’t need an upgrade on shaw, just someone that isn’t a complete drop of in quality when shaw is inevitably injured or is in need of a rest.

We do need an upgrade on Shaw. He’s not good enough in the final third and given AWB is a defensive fullback having the two of them severely limits us as a team. We need an offensive fullback on the left.

Dude, just accept the failure with Hazard, you paid 130+20m for a retired player. You tried to low ball on Pogba, yet you paid more for that player.

He'd start ahead of Shaw depending on opponent IMO, or give us the flexibility for both when we go 3-5-2 and actually using a quality attacking fullback on the left side. Shaw is good on the ball in transition but useless in the final 3rd. Reguillon is very decent there (as he showed against us), so would give us far more composure/delivery into the box which is desperately needed. Shaw is a good player, but we can't have both fullbacks so inept in the final 3rd, it hurts us a lot.

Option of:
Rashford Martial
Bruno
Reguillon VdB Pogba AWB
Shaw Maguire Lindelof
DDG
Or
Rashford Martial Greenwood
Pogba Bruno
VdB
Reg Maguire Lindelof AWB
Ddg
Of course though the big thing would be having depth and tactical flexibility now. Same with Van de Beek. Williams should convert to a right back to compete with Wan Bissaka while being cover for both sides as Shaw is injury prone, and then Laird can be added push to give us a group of 6. But definitely need a Reguillon level attacking left back in there.

Do we know why Real want rid? He’s young, on a decent contract, homegrown, starts for Spain and considered one of the best LB in La Liga. Seems odd to sell him at a low price.

They have a club legend and one of Zidane's newest signings at the position already and he's good enough to start on most sides which is why he's looking to move somewhere.

Not too dissimilar to Hakimi's situation before he was sold to Inter earlier this summer despite impressing on loan like Reguilon

They’ve spent big on Mendy and Marcelo isn’t ready to retire yet. I think they will want first refusal or a buy back on him so that would make more sense as to why they are letting him go.

Ferland Mendy - Recent signing
Marcelo - Real legend

Reguilon just doesn't get the nod but it doesn't mean he isn't good enough to start there.

Still a possibility of being able to add Sancho to that lineup too

Still hoping for Reguilon, Sancho and a Centre Back.

Shouldn't be too much to expect from a club the size of Man Utd surely...

because he is not good enough to be a starter for Real. He is a good player, but not a top player. Sevilla would like to keep him, but not for 30m. He might still be a good signing for United, but he gets overrated.

Or they’ve already got top players for the left back spot?

like many I expect, only seen him play in the Europa league so cant really give definative judegement, but there is another left back only seen play once so again, not much to go on.

Purely from these games though personally Reguilon at 23 is a good left back....Nuno Mendes at 18/19 or however old he is looks potentially an exceptional one. If we were to sign a left back this summer, he would be the one for me without a doubt, even from just one game he looks to have it all.....mind you had a similar opinion of Shaw at SOuthampton

He’s still young and can develop to be a top player. It’s quite narrow minded to say he’s not good enough to start for RM right now so he’s overrated.

They have Marcelo and Mendy. It’s not that he’s not good enough. He just isn’t necessarily better than a club legend and an expensive full back signed only last year.

Real Madrid also sold Hakimi despite him being a good player because they have Carvajal and Odriozola.

You say multiple signings hasnt worked for us in the past, but when have we actually done that in a window? I can only think of Van Gaal doing it when he took over? Also 4 or less signings has only worked for us twice to a degree in the whole time since Ferguson retired so where is the comparison of that being successful either?

Disagree on the squad harmony too. It isnt about numbers, we can sign two players in one window or even just one signing like Sanchez in the January can affect the harmony. It is about the right players of course and statisically the more you sign more likely a bad apple. Also from what we are reading in the press he has no future at Real, so they are pretty irrelevant to him really.

Just this season gone, Lyon have proved its an absolute myth you cant build a team spirit and gel by having a huge overhaul of players in and out. With our targets probablym costs and the fees we would recieve from selling players, multiple signings is hardly feasible this summer. But a strategy of 3 signings a season when the first eleven is that number of players short and the squad several more, isnt a clever one really, so we are plannin gto compete in 2/3 years then?

Havent seen a huge amount of him, but I agree with the person you are replying to. Think people carried away a tad as he has won left back of the season in Spain and won the Europa league and is a Real player. He does look a good left back for sure, doesnt look exceptional to me though anyway. I can understand Real cashing in on him, though feel they could get a slightly better fee....not like Hakimi who looked at Dortmund a season or so away from being a very good full back

Yeah, you never really know how players will do coming back from loan. Hakimi did benefit from playing as a wing back rather than a full back at times.

There is every chance Reguilon is the next Asier Del Horno or Alberto Moreno.

That being said if we aren’t going to buy a ready made LB like Chilwell then a gamble like this seems worthwhile.

Anyone not noticing the urgency of signing a LB need sort themselves up. Williams is right footed and he struggles at LB while Shaw is painfully injury prone. If a 34 year old Jesus Navas can rip a new one at Williams then imagine what CL inside forwards are going to do to the lad. We need a LB.

Also this 'too many signings will disrupt the dressing room' is nonsense. First of all having 4 new signings (LB, CB, RW and CM) is the norm for most clubs. Secondly no one is forcing Ole to play the new LB from day 1. Let him go toe to toe against Shaw and win his place fair and square.
