We should take everything with a pinch of salt in the PR shows tbh, he won't be saying we had a free run for a highly rated player. Our CEO said there are 700 million ManUtd fans and he stated that as a fact. I for one don't believe that btw, he said that in investors conference call as part of PR show.

Yeah it's a silly argument, just was curious on how you wanted other poster to prove, I mean how can anyone prove that no club was interested? Its easier to prove when clubs are interested as we will see lot of news about club trying to sign players and making bids for them.
I just got triggered at the comment because really what he was saying is that he couldn't believe that any top clubs would be interested in players Spurs signed otherwise they wouldn't have come to Spurs. If that was accurate we would never have signed the likes of Eriksen, Vertonghen, Modric, Bale, etc. etc..

We don’t know if any top clubs were in for Bergwijn, we just know that he didn’t end up at a top club. :)

The Danny Rose stuff is interesting. I can just imagine Mourinho have those sorts of conversations with Pogba every other week.

The most interesting part to me, albeit I could of possibly already known if I'd followed Spurs all that much - is that two South Americans in Lucas Moura and Erik Lamela seem pretty strong in English.

But in general - it's certainly more interesting that City's, which seemed more repetitive, I get the idea this has covered more in 5 episodes(it'll be 6 soon).... and well it'll have the covid stuff on top. These people aren't actors, I'd struggle to believe it's as pr-pushed as some seem to claim these are. The editing yes, but the actually interactions are probably fairly genuine.

And truth be told, not many of those supposed interested clubs will be kicking themselves for missing out... not exactly made a huge impression, few dimensions to his game. Plays for Newcastle or West Ham in a couple of years.

Yeah that was really irresponsible by Jose. He tried to be clever with his words and say it was Son that didn’t want a scan. But you could see he didn’t care what the doctor said, he wanted Son to play and to just brush whatever the problem is under the carpet.
That's what I disliked the most about his time at United. Forced players to play through injury to their long term detriment. Slated them publically if they didn't play through injuries. These were not little knocks. No wonder he loses players trust over time. 3rd season meltdown is inevitable when you don't care about your players making injuries worse.

It just goes to show how much it’s all about him and his record and his rewards. He would rather a player suffer a long term injury if it means he gets the result he wants.

Um... we did? He was on most top European clubs radars, including Utd. Probably best you actually do a bit of research before making comments like that.

https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/8205573/man-united-psv-bergwijn-25m-transfer/
To be fair quoting the mirror and the sun is like quoting the guy in the office who comes round to empty the bins. Every player that is looking for a move gets linked to Utd in the papers.

I think that too but I suppose it’s not too dissimilar from lots of managers out there. Win the league or cup or whatever on last day but a player will get injured and I think quite a few managers would go for that. Obviously different over the length of a season and showing no care.

Jose before an easy game: "Make no mistake. They come to be aggressive. They are strong. They come to feck us. So win 2nd balls. Be cnuts. Not just stupid cnuts, clever cnuts."

The Bergwijn acquisition was just odd all round. Spurs were crying out for a backup striker, desperately in need of one in fact. And they go out and buy a wide player? Sure having an extra option out wide is always a bonus, but that to me seems a luxury, whereas a backup striker is a necessity. They already had Lamela, Son and Moura who could all play wide when they got Bergwijn, they had minimal cover for Kane with Son. Who tbf is an alright stop gap option but hardly something you would want to rely on in case of a major injury to Kane. And Son does his best work from wide as he can go either way to fashion a shot on his left or right.

Funnily enough Bergwijn had to play a game up front as a striker and predictably looked out of place.

I’m beginning to understand why he ends up getting sacked in the 3rd season every time. He spends so long drilling it into them, that after 3 years they all genuinely take it on board and become true cnuts! He ends up having too many cnuts to handle!

That and they get bored. There's only so many times you can hear the same words before you stop listening.

I always find the 700 million fans from the club thing bizarre. You can never actually assess it but if we say for a moment that it’s true, in 2019 you posted £627m revenue which means the CEO and the team below him has only managed to extract 89p per fan. Commercially that would be terrible execution - makes them look bad.

I really enjoyed the Tanganga bits as well. Seems like a very down to earth, humble guy - really good player too.
I found the Tanganga piece really boring and staged. Trying hard to jam a feel-good story in there. In my opinion, the guy talks too much and lacks that winning edge.

It's BS obviously. How can anyone know the count, unless every fan is member of club fan groups and every group is counted.

Lacks that winning edge? Guy knocks it our of the park on his debut vs Liverpool and then follows it up with a MOTM performance in his second ever first team game? If that is a guy lacking that winning edge then i want more guys in the team lacking that winning edge.

Oh my. Harry Kane is a terrible speaker.

model professional, leads by example but such a dullard with zero charisma for his team talks.

And all the hand slapping, fist pumps and constant hugging!! It could be as iconic as Top Gun in a few years

He played 11 matches then was rotated a bit by Jose and then suffered a stress fracture in his back. He is still currently recovering from the fracture and will miss the start of next season.

“It is the way of the Tottenham.”

That’s what they should’ve called the programme.
True.

Although Son comes across well. Seems a good, humble guy and hard working. Lloris is a much better captain than Kane.

Kane and his "team talk" were an absolute cringefest. Worse than Ryan Giggs infamous talk.

And he makes them play through dangerous injuries. So they realise he is a cnut and doesn't give 2 fecks about his players long term career.

He doesn’t strike me as a natural leader, but I can’t imagine the actual content of his pep talks differs that much from anything Keano used to say before games. The difference is that if it comes from the mouth of Roy Keane, you believe it.

I bet the producers of the show were absolutely delighted when Poch got sacked and Jose got appointed.

This documentary would have been a failure if it wasn’t for Jose.

Our owners and CEO are bad. Not quite as dodgy and corrupt as Citys. But definitely very bad!

The fan data was compiled by Kantaar who are very well respected for data and research.

Watching the documentary makes me more happier every time to think we no longer have Jose. What a toxic time.

True. The first 1-2 seasons are OK. But the football becomes so boring to watch. After that the ending is inevitable.
What was even more painful was the way he would rip into our players in public causing irreparable damage. Constantly burning bridges. I can’t believe we were so close to selling Martial and Pogba cause of Jose. He didn’t like Martial because he wasn’t good defensively for him. Ridiculous.

We could have been watching Martial thrive in brilliant form right now playing for another team if it was for Jose. Dinosaur needs to retire.

Interesting so far. I always assumed Levy was just a hard nosed businessman that did not really have a vested interest in club performance outside how much money it makes. Better players = higher table finish in PL and CL spots = more money.

But after watching the docco you see a bit more of a human side to him, and the fact he is heavily invested in improving Spurs and seems to genuinely care about the club from the ground up. Interesting that he has players invest time in the local community, Vertonghen helping at the food bank, Aurier's regular visits to local schools and the like.

This is exactly what he did to Hazard in 15/16, only even worse because at the same time he'd caused our head physio to quit by being a cnut to her.

Always drove me mad when people would criticise Hazard for downing tools when he had a serious hip injury that was completely mismanaged and swept under the rug.

If we had our own TV deal we could get a good idea seeing how many people watch our games World wide and the size of that deal would reflect that.
