He is on 600k/week at RM.
You lot want to pay 50% of that, which will instantly make him the most paid player at United (before bonuses).
For a check-out and washed out amateur golfer.
I dunno, he's an amateur golfer with 3 Champions Leagues under his belt. That kind of pedigree and winning mentality doesn't become available very often.
Which of the scenarios below would you rather:
- Sign no one, wait until Greenwood shows a bit of inconsistency (which can be expected of a 19 year old) and then play with James/ Lingard/ Mata on the right. The moaning resumes as we revert to type and scrape a top six finish.
- Sign Bale who immediately raises the level of the team overnight, a player who provides competition down the right and someone the likes of Rashford and Greenwood could learn immensely from. Plus he's British and would integrate immediately into the team. At the end of the season he goes back to Madrid, leaving them with the headache of what to do with him next whilst we have another go at getting Sancho from BvB.
It's completely different from the Sanchez deal and I think if he came, he'd prove a lot of the doubters wrong. We need a good mixture of experience and youth in the team, and he'd bring the experience.
