In that case our third is also a false position as we could so easily have been 6th if Mourinho hadn't thrashed Leicester, he practically gave us UCL we couldn't even beat West Ham at home even though it was a match that decided a whole season
Moyes had a better success rate than Ole has now!

We didn’t look like a better team than Southampton when they played us off the park a month ago. But you’ll probably tell me we was tired.

So just so I know about this fitness thing. Do we do more drills when players are tired? Or do they require more rest? If it’s the latter should our players having more rest than the rest of the league benefit us?

Do your research on this thread. I never go missing ;)
Traditionally, you build fitness in the first weeks of pre season, double training sessions etc, then ease it up towards season start and have some friendlies, then start the season and lose fitness as the season goes on because rest becomes more important and you want to focus on your game and preparation for fixtures etc.

You may remember LVG always having a horrendous injury crisis because he tried double sessions through the winter and it fecked the players over.

Palace finished their season on july 26th, we finished ours on August 18th. Palace returned to training on august 17th, we did on september 4th.

Maybe this answers your question but i’m sure you can find some more tripe to pull out of your bag

No that was a good analysis on fitness. I appreciated that.

But let’s not let this derail you when this performance continues for the next 2 months.

He's way out of his depth as are the people above him it isnt either, or.
Yeah they are all crap. Not being able to do even the basic deals like get in a LB efficiently to continuously picking a manager who doesn’t work. Then we have a manager who doesn’t even know what to do with the players he wants to bring in.

Personally i think its a mess, and we are going to be behind somewhere considering that preseason. I dont think it will continue for months but we need to be aware that Liverpool and City wont be any worse and Chelsea have significantly strengthened. I think plenty of teams know that they need to run at our centre halves and that needs to be addressed with recruitment of a highly mobile CB or DM. We’ve got nothing going forward Apart from MMM, other than Dan James. Any other manager will still have this issue.

People who are saying Ole should be sacked keeps forgetting that this was the same team that went on an unbeaten run recently.

We did not had a proper preseason so players didn't had enough time to get fit. We finished our season late and they players were called up for international duty. Most of the players were tired.

Harry McGuire had off-field incident in Greece and Pogba was tested positive for coronavirus. These kind of things affect a player mentally.

All other teams are signing new players and reinforcing their squad, we are just talking to players telling them we are interested in signing them. Transfer market is like a party where everyone is enjoying while United showed up in the middle had a drink and left.

If you don't consider these points before saying he should be sacked, then I am sorry you are not a United fan.

No one is expecting him to win the PL or the CL because the transfers has not been enough. We need more better players. But he has no cohesion at all. He does not know how to manage a game. This is not new but has been seen from the time he was appointed. Time and again it is the same players and the same system. But he has enough quality in his side to beat teams like Palace and not get thrashed by them. He is simply not good enough. On a personal note how dare you call me not a United fan. I have been a fan and stood in places like Oxford Utd etc when United was in the second division. Have you supported them when they were in the second division?

We might have enough quality but as I said players were tired. They did not had enough game fitness. You cannot expect a player to play non-stop for three months, then go on 2-3 weeks break and again start playing competitive football without any proper pre-season. Its same players because others are not good enough. And no system will work if the players are not fit.

When United were in second division I was not even born. But it doesn't matter which division I will always support United.

The key question here is will Ole ever win the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League, Europa League or League Cup - And I think deep down even with out blind faith and live for the man, the answer is a resounding no!

He’s simply not an Elite Manager, His win rate is barely 50% in the PL, and our two most feared rivals City and Liverpool have the two best managers in world football, right now if we are all being honest we are praying for Pep to stop Klopp from achieving a record equalling 20 domestic titles and although I think he’s done good work in incredibly difficult scenario , we must think like an Elite European club and give him this season irrespective of where we finish but go after a truly elite wining a manager ;

Who ?
I’m not in charge of United but
Julian Nagelsman, Thomas Tuchal , C Ancelotti and even J Lowe the German national manager should be considered To carry on his work with attacking tactics, We can spend another £400M on the squad, be taken over by a Russian billionaire within the next 3 seasons to create a squad equal to City and Liverpool but Ole at the wheel would still be 30 points short, he’s tactically clueless makes late subs that never or rarely influence the game and knows how to lose a semi final in 3 competitions!!!

Based on the fact that the Glazers and Woody are not going anywhere, and investments in players only come in when 4th place is in danger, we need to sack Ole and get a coach who can really squeeze blood from stone.

I mean that's what we should be doing anyway. We're not a fecking art project, we should be hiring coaches who can get everything possible out of the players already at the club first and foremost.

Not a single elite club thinks that way.

I dont like his tactics ( because they dont seem to be much).

However, I do like his attempted reorganisation of the squad. I really doubt that's Woodward. I'm just hesitant to chuck him out like a whore out the door because of that and I dont want that to stop so soon.

However, if its Woodward who stops it by not supplying him in the transfer window then Ole's weaknesses will show just as much as the squads leading to him getting fired.

Should he get fired right this second? No. Will he get fired this season. A 95% chance of yes.

Mourinho's second place was definitely a false position, but Ole's third place is even more of a false position given it took major injury crises at Spurs and Leicester, and a fecking global pandemic to come about, and but for the last day of the season we could have just as easily ended 5th or 6th.
Both these points are bollox and not true. ‘The final league table never lies’ is the most accepted truism in the game.

All the Ifs, buts, and personal prejudices are invalid because you play every other team home and away.

Anyone trying to deny this is coming from a specific agenda. I get that this reality must madden anti Mourinho and OleOUT crew but these facts are now recorded into the history books no matter what opinion you may try to use to falsify them.

Stupid post, but that’s not unexpected from reading the rest of your posts from last night.

You should look at the history books if you really want to learn about matches between Man Utd and West Ham deciding things that matter.

We finished 3rd because we got more points that 17 other teams over an entire season. Perhaps it will turn out similar to Jose and it’s a false dawn, but I don’t think so.

He wants to play a high press with the fullbacks pushed high up the pitch and the CBs defending high in isolation (as evidenced at Molde) but for some strange reason he targeted the wrong players in Maguire and AWB to implement that game style IMO. But nevertheless he did well to finish 3rd last season and this season he should really look to make his mark on the team via his way of playing football.

I know we lost against Palace and we're all dissapointed but if i'm honest it was heartening to see us attempt to play a high risk game. But sadly we got exposed because for one we don't have the midfield combination down yet and both our CBs aren't good enough in providing defensive stability high up the pitch in isolation which is a big issue if the aim is to sacrifice defensive stability for goals and to play a attractive brand of football. And that's without mentioning the wide receivers (fullbacks) which compounds the issue further as far as trying to adopt a attack minded approach.

Ole has two options here unless he signs a quick and mobile CB IMO, either adopt a reactive approach defending in a deeper defensive line which suits our back line due to their limitations high up the pitch. Or as I would prefer he goes ahead with his preferred way of playing and gives the likes of Bailly, Axel, Mengi significant game time next to Maguire which would provide a better defensive balance high up the pitch.

And as far as the midfield is concerned i'd start all 3 of Bruno, Pogba and VdB together. There would be issues of defensive balance off the ball but i'm hoping we can maybe tuck our fullbacks in to cover the short comings defensively which would arise with that midfield 3.

Agreed, especially after a lot of the optimism and momentum built up towards the last third of last season.
Got more Pts from Feb to July than even Liverpool n City did.

Woodward Judge and the Glazers are the problem. Ole beat Pep 3 times last season. You don't do that unless you have something about you.

Ole will not resign because he knows he wouldn't get another top job elsewhere.

Glazers will not sack Ole because he will not rebel against the board.

A match made in heaven.

But if you take our performances in that season for Jose and compare them to our performances under Ole... all that's happened is we've become much, much worse at getting wins against shit sides, especially at home. And much better at raising our game against the top six. We certainly haven't progressed as a well rounded team who is capable of competing for titles, of being competitive in the big games while also being able to break down low blocks at Old Trafford.

I'm sure the training ground was a much more relaxed and jovial place in February and at the start of post-lockdown football than any point under Mourinho, but pre-Bruno things were looking very dicey from every standpoint and we might be about to slip right back into that situation.
What? Until the lockdown Spurs and Leichester hardly had any serious injuries. Meanwhile we had Pogba out for pretty much the whole season and both Rashford, Martial, McTomminay, Matic out for extended periods. Spurs had Kane and Son our for some time, but they (like us) got saved by Covid to some extent.

Leichester had the injuries pile up after lockdown, but before it they were incredibly fortunate compared to many others

The second bolded part was a major concern last season, and yes we were beyond shite vs Palace, but after February we put plenty of them to the sword. Of course if we keep up the same trend this season of consistently dropping points against presumably worse sides then serious questions needs to be asked, but if you take a step back and look at the bigger picture in 2020 it has been much better than 2019

I still think it's funny to see that people think this has anything to do with the managers that come through here. How many more times will this have to happen before people see the pattern. Ole has done mostly good things since he came and even for the first time since Fergie left given us half a season where we had good times watching Utd.. If anyone of you still thinks Ole wouldn't have signed a new CB, RW and a LB if he could please raise your hand.

Calm heads are needed right now instead of knee jerk reactions. At the end of last season, who was behaving like this when we beat Leicester to the champions league place?

Yes i agree, it is deeper & the problem is linked to other issues at the club.

Agreed and I think it is (at the risk of generalising) a sentiment shared by the younger generation of fans who are somewhat more attuned to relatively quick success.

Feck me, the reaction on here and across the internet is insane. We lost one game lads. One league game since January. Put things into context. Now I agree we were shite and looked way off the pace to an inferior side. This can and does happen from time to time, it can also happen to a team that has has a limited break, no pre-season and despite needing additions to the squad, we have had 1 new signing thus far. Before people start turning their anger towards Ole, please for the love of Christ take it out on the board first and foremost. That is where the problems lie and the cause for the team not being up to scratch.

I do see where you are coming from in terms of fitness however, I do not think Ole helped himself either this game.

1. Prior to the match hailed Bailly for being really fit and looking sharp, plays Lindelof who was dropped by Sweden because he looked tired and run down.

2. Started Pogba who has not had any pre season whilst Donny has been back training with Ajax since mid August and has played 2/3 games

3. Fosu Mensah... we have AWB, Williams, Dalot and he starts him at RB

We can all make excuses for Ole, but this is a recurring theme now. I am Ole in camp at the moment but we have looked crap in games v West Ham, Southampton, Palace, Copenhagen

I'd replace or enhance our coaching team first prior to getting rid of Ole. If he doesn't have the good sense to do that then at some point he'll pay for it.

I think it’s easy to pick apart certain decisions in a micro analysis, for example, Lingard posted the highest numbers in fitness tests last week but couldn’t even make the bench.

There’s a lot of politics behind the scenes regarding who’s being frozen out and who Ole wants gone. Not playing certain players in the first game sets the tone, and let’s not forget, AWB went against club advice for his holidays so there was going to be a consequence there.

I also wouldn’t be surprised if Ole told Shaw to go out and speak about transfers the other day. If Ole does it then it’s a revolt. If the players do it they’re ambitious.

I agree with what you are saying but we should not be losing against Palace. All the negativity around the club is clearly having an effect on the pitch.

Its such a disruptive start to the season. Magure issues, AWB, Pogba. Even Bruno joined training late after birth of his child.

3 weeks and another international break.

“He wouldn’t get offered another job anywhere else”

think about that statement that a few have said. He’s got an almost 55% win rate at United. How the feck wouldn’t he get offered another job elsewhere you idiots?
