Yup, he's basically backed himself into a corner by talking about every single decently-sized transfer story. His willingness to get involved in everything has seen him reaching out to some interesting sources.

The next step now is to give more credit to others for their scoops (like he did with Verweij, Ornstein, David Vinuesa Malbac, Falk, Bouhafsi, and Sportske Novosti).
What makes me skeptical is that he's not only talking about concrete things, like actual offers and negotiations. He claims to know what the clubs and players are thinking, what they are going to do, what their priorities are etc. I just don't see how it's possible for so many clubs and players, I think he's padding.

The whole Romano thing is desperately embarrassing. From those calling him out to those abusing the other journo for calling him out. The call out smacks of “I’m better but don’t have as many followers. This isn’t fair”

I see Romano's misogynistic troll fanbase is out in force on the Twitter cesspit.
Fanboys, the f*cking worst.

I don't care where the tweets come from to be honest. We either sign a player or don't.
But this summer has been so obvious with Romano, I've noticed it so many times. Anytime somebody tweets some news, he's always reporting it 2mins later

Well well well..... We've got people waking up regarding Romano. Quite a few of you too. It's not just me then is it? His army of worshipers will all over this soon no doubt. Let them come. Hahahaha.

He knows feck all. Just either copies other people or makes things up like he did with Sancho n Reguilon. He's just on a huge ego trip.

12 million now or a free at the end of the season. Seems no brainer unless they need his presence for the team to reach some specific goal.
There will probably be a compromise of add-ons, I've no doubt this one will get over the line. As will Smalling, he'll end up somewhere!

However, getting rid of Rojo and Jones is another question - we can't even give these two away!!!

If you want rumours, its the daily and sunday express online you need to look at. Constant utd BS, sometimes 3 or 4 stories every morning within a few hours, some of it contradicting earlier posts, its sensational stuff, they dont have a clue

For all the abuse English journalists get when it comes to transfer news I actually believe them more then the others Like Romano , Bouhafsi atleast whatever they mostly report come directly from the Club even if it's agenda driven.

I've been half expecting Fab to implode at some point this summer. His entire identity now seems to be being the guy who breaks the transfer, and no one journalist can do that for every big transfer. No matter how well connected, sometimes other journalists will have a better connection and will scoop you - so honestly I could totally believe the accusations that he's presenting other people's scoops as his own
Well there's being first to a story and then there's the truth.
Most of these hacks are the same.
They need to be first. Doesnt matter if it's true. It generally isnt

What must be missing in your life so that you become a fanboy of a journo whos main role is peddling transfer news / gossip. ?

So are we going to sign anybody or not?

There’s only a few days left I think the club pretty much fecked up the transfer window only bringing DeBeek in. If we sign anyone now it reeks of a panic buy..

International window closes on 5th, but then it's the domestic window which closes on 16th, in case we want to buy someone domestically.

I think that's only for lower league clubs isn't it? I thought PL clubs it was 5th for all transfers.

The window, delayed because of the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, is also set to include a domestic-only period for transfers between Premier League and English Football League clubs from 5-16 October.

From BBC transfers.

Fair enough. I didn't know that.

He's more or less a twitter aggregator these days rather than a reporter who actually breaks a story.

Or possibly Sarr or Dembele. Who knows.

Hopefully the penny has dropped that 3rd/4th will be tougher this year with Chelsea/Spurs/Arsenal reinforcing their teams and Leicester are also reinforcing.

We honestly need a DoF to plan these transfers out over a course of a season or two. Maybe just maybe if we did have a good DoF he could have persuaded Alaba to join us this summer. Outside chance as he wants Real/Barcelona but thats what good DoF do, they pull off unexpected deals and do alot of unheard/unseen work in background.

even if it’s Sancho????
We’ve been hemming and hawing over Sancho for the last few months if a deal were to be done I think it should’ve been done by now. So at this point yes even Sancho would be a panic buy after the way we started the season..

Level of hysteria on the Cafe is almost Goldbridgesque. Calm down. We just being pragmatic after years of being ripped off (Maguire - £80m, Fred - £52m, ...). Do you see Bayern 'panicking'? They targeted Leroy Sané, were quoted about £80m, but persevered and got him for £40.5m. Likewise Real Madrid took Ronaldo from us after trying a few times.

If United are looking for reinforcements at right-back we should be all over Tariq Lamptey. Great attitude and he's a player!

Simon Stone:

Utd may buy Sancho, or maybe they won't. They may buy someone else instead, or maybe they won't. They may target a short term replacement and buy Sancho next year, or not. Maybe they will do nothing, who knows?

Illuminating insight as always Simon!

I'd like Maitland-Niles as a RB if the fee is decent.

With him and Telles we'd finally have some good FB going forward, enough putting up with the crap of Shaw and AWB week and week out.
