Accountants come in different flavours. The issue is we have x2 (at least) in Eddy & Matty who are ex PWC.

PWC bods are arrrogant sycophants who think they are the best and there in lies the issue. Overlay the the huge debt which Eddy was central to in the takeover and that his central role is protect the the Adams family investment & yearly syphoning .
The Glazers could bust a flush as to funding with selling more of their shares but hey why would they, as the only purpose of this is for a family Brucie bonus.

We are royally screwed & to make it worse the Scouserpudlians will overhaul us. Its the latter that the fans should not accept. They were dead & buried untill we screwed in getting Klopp & got lucky with Countinho sale in a hyper inflated market.

We need these zombies out of our club
Such a good post, couldn't agree more. I am truly worried for the future of our club on the pitch. It's the rivalry with Liverpool that most fans care about.

If we were miles ahead of everyone we wouldn't be so worried right? But we will be overtaken in league titles soon enough and they will prob win another CL before we even get our act together or ed and the Glazers leave.

Then it's back to 70s and 80s United, waiting for another fergie to show up.

Agree buddy. Am Deloitte so I perfectly understand your PWC narrative.

One thing I know is Accountants can not run a successful business either.

Most businesses with an Accountant as CEO end up in failure. They are best at finance not business strategy.

Ed and Matt should not be involved in the business strategy of MUFC. This is the operational football side , signing players and selling players. They haven't got the skills for that.

Focus on making and saving money. That's it. Give operational powers to a football person like Edwin Van Der Sar. Simple.
Yep I am accountant too & could not agree more. We rarely make godd CEO's. What makes it worse is that these to ex Bristol grads do not hav a fecking clue about football. At least I fecking have!

Covid has been a godsend for Woodward. Ready made excuse and no fans at the club means he won't be getting stuck for his failure this summer.

Serious question

Why aren’t we signing anyone?

I cannot think of one coherent reason why the club isn’t making any.

They MUST realise that we won’t finish in the Champions League without more signings.

Even from a money making perspective, it makes absolutely no sense because it means less money next season again. And I don’t get it.
It's plain idiocy, next year the extent of this summer's failure will be laid bare. Pogba will want out and with a year left on his deal we will have to sell him for peanuts. What's worse is that we will enter next summer's window from a position of desperation and weakness so clubs will look to rinse us again.

The stupidity lies in the fact that next summer we will spend more than what we could have spent this summer but we will also lose CL money so there wont be any real savings. We could also sack the manager mid season and have to make yet another hefty payoff. New manager comes in and will likely demand that we get shot of our recent signings to start off another rebuild.

With Woodward we are stuck in a vicious cycle of mediocrity.

I feel like we’ve reached a weird position here, in which I can see something odd, perhaps even downright bizarre happening. An obscure name, completely out of the blue that gains traction and ends up happening. It would just be the perfect way to top off the shit pie we’ve been baking all window.

So 3 days to go. Hopefully we sell Smalling in these few days and get Telles. Have a feeling we'll sign attacking player until 5th October, maybe on loan.

I think Telles will be the only other player added.

It's been clear as day that Sancho wasnt coming, well to the normal and realistic people. His thread is over 1200 pages of delusion. I think my only posts in that thread have been saying it's dead in the water and I was ridiculed for thinking so negatively.

Telles coming in to replace Shaw is all well and good but we still need a RW and a CB. Both of those not looking good.

It Bailly stays fit then we will be in a better position than before, other than RW.

If we aren't getting Telles or Sancho, just shut up shop. I don't want josh king or Brooks for 45m in the last hour of the window. Just bite the bullet and brief "no more signings expected"

You mean like a Falcoa tyoe of thing. I think we will get Telles then I bet it will be someone like Josh King. As other posters have said if we cant get Sancho i would prefer the club to bite the bullet. Let's not mistake bodies for quality. We already have a lot of bodies at the club, in fact a massive squad, it's just half of those are crap.

Yeah, some bloody transparency would be nice.

Just speculating here, but we seemingly only get down to business in the actual off season and seeing as this one was fecking short its no wonder its so much chaos. For example the Sancho links have been there forever, is not possible to tap up Dortmund a bit earlier and start the talks then?

Yep, pretty much. It’s pure conjecture on my behalf, mind you. Nothing more than a hunch. I just have a weird feeling that the higher ups at the club are going to pull the trigger on something funky over the next couple of days.

For the record, I agree entirely with your view on the shape of the squad. The last thing we need is to add more faces, just for the sake of doing so.

United minus the Glazers
I’m part of the minority in here that believe this transfer window was really for United to shed its reputation as “over-payers” in the transfer market. Covid has provided a firm justification for that given its impending economic impact.

I think the more concerning piece of management has been in the coordination of outgoing player sales. We are still clinging on to a lot of deadwood players that are eating in to our wage budget.

Ed either doesn't know how to buy or sell a player, or doesn't want to buy or sell a player.

I'm opting for doesn't know how to.

What a mess, the Sancho shambles is humiliating. This easily avoidable unprofessional & unnecessary behaviour at board room level has been taking place since Moyes was in charge.

What a joke we are at times :(

15-20 for Smalling. 25 for James. 3 for Pereira. 1 for Chong. We can easily earn 50 mil for those 4. Us Rojo, Jones, Lingard, Romero.
If only we have someone who actually knows what he is doing

Yeah I just can't be bothered about transfers anymore. No point getting emotionally involved. I think the asking price for Sancho is too high, but we could easily have signed the likes of Magalhães and Reguilón on the cheap by now and be sorted in defense. Oh well.

Hoping to see Maguire and Lindelöf rotating with each other for one of the CB slots this season. With Tuanzebe, Bailly and Mengi rotating for the other one. That should more or less guarantee that they all stay fit throughout the season.

DDG and Henderson in goal.

Telles will likely come in as cover for Shaw, while Williams moves to RB as cover for AWB.

Matic and Fred as CDM.

Pogba, Fernandes, VDB and McTominay as the options for 8 and 10.

Rashford, James and Elanga as the options for LF.

Greenwood, James and Mata as the options for RF.

Martial, Ighalo and Greenwood as the options for CF.

Lingard and TFM as versatile squad players. Lingard for the attacking positions and TFM for the defensive positions.

There we have it - two or more players for each position. I'm bored out of my mind with this transfer window and just want to watch a lot of games now.

Tried to remain positive about us doing something of note this window but I can't believe we are in this mess again. It's truly depressing. We're a joke.

The fact that we’re 36 hours from deadline day and Smalling, Jones, Rojo, Lingard and Romero are still at the club and our only incoming is VDB, who looks decent but we didn’t need, is absolutely unforgivable.

You can accept that in his 1st year, but he has 7 years experience, surely he should know how to do transfers now?
Some people are fast learners and able to pick up tasks for the new job.
At the opposite end, you have Edward Woodward and Matt Judge. Absolute buffoons. For the record, I think Woodward is better. Matt Judge must've had part of his brain removed at some point.

Cavani

If we don’t get a striker by Monday night, we still have until the 16th to get king...

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.
Taken my daily vitamin D and I think we’ll get Dembele on loan with option to buy, Sancho and Telles.

We’ll sell Romero, Smalling, Rojo (free), Lingard and James. Jones we’ll loan out to boost his value hoping he’ll actually play games. Not sure what will happen with TFM. Net spend around 85m and a good window was had by all. Centre back needed next summer.

It's fine we'll sign some Championship players like King, Brooks and Rodon before the 16th October.
Signing Dan James was a master stroke last season.
The fans ate it up and were happy with a (Championship) player.
While Woodward had saved some money by not bringing in a quality signing.

I can well imagine that Woodward may use the same tactic again.

Still confident we will get a couple in. Even if one is Dembele.

Dembele on loan with Brooks coming in for backup after the deadline.
Won’t sign a striker as signing two options for RW frees Greenwood up to play/cover there.
Telles on a pre-contract in January.
A surprise signing at CB or a defensively minded midfielder.

No more signings, then Ed blames his mates but pays them off royally.

Lots more stories about how dysfunctional we are in the press, until the earnings call, when our finances are laid bare is unable to deal with the loss of matchday revenue.

Agreed with all that except we desperately needed a quality rotation player like VDB, he was a critical signing. He's already showing his worth.

Ok, yeah, I probably didn’t word it great. He wasn’t a priority signing is what I mean. In my opinion anyway. I think for the price especially, he’ll be a good signing

Waiting for main window to close before diving in for the likes of Brooks and Sarr when they're the only plausible options? Maybe add a sprinkling of Cavani on for good measure.

We’re so light in the full back areas. If AWB gets injured we’re fecked.

Cant wait to have TFM and Dan James starting down our right side.
