I have ps5 on ore order but in all honesty Microsoft have hit it out of the park.

Powerful Console, new features like quick resume, Gamepass and finally the Main thing always thrown at Xbox is the lack of exclusives but that’s soon going to be a thing if the past, they’ve invested billions in new studios.

I had the One X and was very impressed with the hardware, I wouldn’t be surprised if the series X is a quality piece of kit, I’ll be picking one up before long.

You had a Vita didn't you?

What a waste of money that was! Could have been great. Sony let me down.

Dreamcast was great. Loved a game called Blue Stinger.

Oh yeah, and a PSP  Forgot them.
I seem to be a bit shit with handhelds. I bought so many games for my DS/3DS and never played them. And I've played way more on the Wii U than the Switch (partly because so many Switch games were on the Wii U to be fair)

But the Vita just had no games. Hardware wise it was so impressive but I think I expected something like the Switch that would have games closer aligned to console games of the time.

Yeah the Vita should have been a great handheld, as you say it was held back by its lack of games and the insane cost of proprietary storage.

The lack of NES is disappointing I have to say, but otherwise I am pleased and retract my "dark side" comment.

Was expecting you to say it was the predecessor to the Series X (for those reasons) to be honest

Yeah, the Vita was a great piece of kit and with a bit more support (and cheaper storage) it could have got a lot more mileage. Really want to play mine as it has P4G but it has stick drift and while I've tried some things, nothing has fixed it permanently.

Most of which will also be playable on PC. PS5 is the perfect companion.

I just read this while looking this up in relation to the One X...

" Microsoft set aside 1 GB of ram so the dashboard could be 4k but the game devs said they could use that 1 GB for games so Microsoft made the decision to do 1080p dash and let the game devs have the extra GB to use."

This allows games to use more RAM rather than taking up performance/memory for a higher resolution UI.

That actually sounds like a big positive. I'll take a 1080p UI if it means better performance/resources.

If it eats into resources, for no real gain, it's a smart move. I wouldn't have thought it has that big of a cost though....so it's interesting.

@cantbebothered You could add in the OP that it may be a resources saver (how much I don't know), using the example above.
Looks like only thing actually 4k on PS5 will be the dash.

Who cared about a 1080p or 4K UI? If you’ve got a TV worth it’s salt, it’ll upscale static text and graphics well enough that you’d never notice. I have literally never looked at the PS4 or One X dashboard and gone “wow I wish this was 4k”

Not sure what’s so funny the quick resume thing looks brilliant and has been praised across the board. If PS doesn’t have something similar I’ll be a bit pissed.
New? Pretty sure it’s not a new feature. Pretty sure current consoles can do a similar but lesser thing?

Edit: actually think I’m wrong! I take it back, decent feature.

In fairness, we haven’t had a good dashboard in years. I’d settle for 480p if they just made one easy to feckin navigate
