I'd have taken Poch if we had just said to Ole,"thanks for stepping in but we now are looking to take us forward," Then approached Poch, But the whole saga after the UCL and his demeanour after not getting the players after leaves me with doubts.
I think he sees himself at a huge club. I'd love to hear him speak about his time at Spurs near the end. What happened? Why did it go so pear shaped? Does he feel he has grown and learned from mistakes?
Otherwise it's Rose for me and I've liked him from his Salzburg days
I'm like you my biggest doubts came on the CL final. Lucas had covered the injured Kane and scored a marvellous hat trick to get them in to the CL final and was looking to be striker for the final set.
However he bought back a semi injured Kane for the final and arguably wasnt trusting the starting 11 that got them in to the final in the first place and I felt like he lost the love of his team then.
I felt at that moment that he is one of those managers that has a preference of a single formation, a single type of striker, a single type of midfielder, wide midfielder and a single type of tactical set up.
I dont see him as a manager who even if he had a great false 9 at his disposal would ever use such a tactic. I dont see him as a manager who would prefer using Scholes and carrick type player in a single formation over a hard strength based midfielder like Sissoko, Ndombele and Dier.
I wouldnt exactly cry about him coming here like I felt about Mourinho joining us but I have my doubts over him. I'd rather have a manager who looks at the players he has and is able to build a tactic that gets best of them rather than need a certain type of player he targets for his desired single formation in his head.
The wanyamas, the sissosko, the ndombele, the schneirderlin type for midfield, the Osvaldo, the Lambert, the Kane, the Jenssen and Llorente type for his preferred type of striker.
Do I see him getting the best out of players like Rashford, Martial and Greenwood? Do I see him adding some further creativity or more strength type to our midfield over players like Fred, Mctomminay, Matic and Pogba aswell? Can he even get the best out of defensive minded fullbacks which should be possible for any flexible manager or will he just dump them for attacking ones? Would he have kept defenders like Smalling due to his defensive ability over ball playing abilities?
I'm not saying what he chooses is wrong or right - but I have my doubts over him.
