I think the Board is under pressure not to sack Ole. The former players like Neville, Rio, Scholes etc puts media pressure on Woodward.

I love the insinuations that people who don’t believe that Ole is the right man for the job are lower life forms and have ruined debates on the forum.

Ignore anyone blurting out personal insults, or anyone making crazy claims, obviously. But don’t just clump everyone who has serious doubts about his abilities together and act in some way superior, just because you back him.

I would argue that anyone backing him 100% could easily be doing more long term damage than those that are critically questioning his tenure. It’s that sort of narrow thinking that I would call binary and that doesn’t consider the impact of lowering expectations and lurching around for years would have/is having on a giant club such as United.

It’s been two years and we are still all over the place, with no consistency in sight. We seem ready to write off yet another season with a really good squad. It’s dangerous because it comes to be accepted and expected. There is no evidence that he knows how he wants to play, that he knows players best positions, or that he even considered how his signings would fit in a given system.

I don’t think it’s at all reactionary to want to see a modern coach helping these players understand how he expects them to play and seeing a system that consistently produces performances. There is so much talent in the squad and I’m excited to see someone wield it properly.

If Ole was manager of a club like Newcastle, West Ham, Brighton, Palace he would get them relegated.

Hes just lucky he has good players at United.

He has to go.

This place has been full of binary thinkers as long as I can recall. Stuff that’s good is brilliant, not so good is shit, with no middle ground.

That said, clearly a lot of people are struggling as they’ve been accustomed to virtually nothing but ups since the 90s. You could even see some losing their shit and their faith in Fergie as he was doing his mid-naughties rebuild. Sack Fergie Sell Giggs aren’t pure inventions.
The same people who have seen the club being shite for 7 years and this is the eighth one now, with not even a single title challenge, or anything close to it in nearly a decade ? Yeah I think we're past the point of "struggling" with this fact.

Actually the fact that nowadays we crazy celebrate winning 5-0 against RB at home means how expectations and standards have reached rock bottom for Manchester United that we're really thirsty for any good win to have some good and comfortable nights, as these don't come often for us anymore, so we don't treat them like normal wins unlike any other big club around.

All this about a manager that finished 3rd last season and got to FA cup and Europa League semi finals.
People keep mentioning the semi finals... Are we really supposed to be impressed by beating - aside from Wolves - Tranmere, Norwich, Derby, FC Copenhagen, LASK Linz, Club Brugge, Astana, AZ and Partizan Belgrade?

With those opponents I'd expect any United manager to go through.

People keep talking about that 3rd place finish as if it was some sort of achievement  Probably the same people who were not happy finishing 2nd with Jose because we were mile off first. We have won 66 points, good luck finishing anywhere near 3rd with it this season. We started this season just as bad as the previous one, our league form is shambolic and correct me if I am wrong, but the win % is lower than Moyes? If that is really true I don't know how can there be any discussions about Ole not being the right man for the job, it's blatantly obvious.

I'm not sure if this was aimed at me, but if it was, I did not imply anything of the sort.

We're not supposed to be very impressed by it, no. I was talking about it in the context of people claiming Ole to be the worst manager in club history, when results wise last season was definitely decent.

What the hell happened to this place? I've been lurking here for years and I swear I remember this place having some of the best quality content out there. The discussions used to be rational, reasoned and very interesting to read. Looking at this thread now and it's no better twitter. Even reddit has higher standards nowadays. We have posters

- Actively wishing we lose games
- Claiming Ole is in top 3 worst managers of the league
- Claiming Ole is worse than Moyes
- Calling Ole a P.E. teacher

All this about a manager that finished 3rd last season and got to FA cup and Europa League semi finals. How can functioning adults be actually thinking so irrationally? I can't wrap my head around what kind of thought process goes on in people's head to make claims like that. Ole has been underperforming this season, that is true, but most of the stuff written here would have you believe we barely escaped relegation last season. Is everyone here just wumming?
You started off so well then waffled. So basically not liking a manager who currently has us 15th in the league is bad content? Go get your PC censored context from the other places and Stratford Paddock.

This is precisely what I was talking about. Can you point out exactly where I said that? I have no problem with people not liking the manager, I have a problem with people who can't backup their nonsensical claims. Censorship and quality control are two entirely different things.

I miss it too. People can have opinions but the dross posted here makes me not want to visit the Caf anymore. Its depressing to read some of the stuff written here by both but esp after defeats. It's become a medium to vent not to discuss.

It's bizarre but we've been put in this situation by our board for being indecisive. Ole should have been gone after Tottenham like Kovac was with Bayern after they got beaten by 5.

Our board are happy for us to meander around the 4/5/6 place and hope we find some form/luck or whatever.

So I'm at a point where I just feel for fans that are desperate with the club and I don't blame them. They've been put in a position where they know that only a horrific loss of form would possibly make Woodward act.

We're in a horrible place in terms of how the club is run and to be fair, sacking Ole, won't change much as we'll still have these underlying problem.
Aye, I can see what people mean when they say things like that. Ordinarily it's not said in the most literal of senses, but it's more fans laying out their frustrations which I can understand.

The management of the club as a whole has been absolutely shocking since Fergie retired. A culmination of things have gotten us into a real rut and I still don't really see a clear way out of it.

The issue, which you alluded to, is that I feel even if we sack Ole now, it won't fix much unless we go with a really clear plan for our next appointment. I have zero faith in us doing that which is why I'm not screaming from the rooftops to sack Ole. I think it's probably best to just give him the season and then part ways (unless he does something remarkable). We have a better chance of appointing a top manager if we wait until the season is over. Right now it looks like it would be Poch. Don't get me wrong, I like him but I'm not sure if he's the right man.

I would love us to really think up our next appointment and change things structurally with a DoF etc. It's what we need to do but I have little faith it's what we'll do and we'll keep flip-flopping between all different types of managers, until we maybe strike lucky one day. It's clear, to me anyway, that Ole isn't good enough to have us challenging at the highest level. I respect some of the work he's done here and he's made a-lot of positive changes. I also think he'll leave behind a good squad for whoever comes in.

Welcome to the Caf! A word of advice : don't waste your time on trying to reason with this lot.

I think after Everton it is time to change manager. Another international break would be the ideal time.

We really need someone that can push for titles although the league is probably gone already.

We have had a bad terrible start to the season. But we have played 6 of 38 games in the league. We sit on top in our group in CL, a group few gave us any chance getting out of. Some really need to chill and get back to the real world. Let’s get to the end of December and see where we are. Try and enjoy the match tonight, you missable sods. Even the ones wanting us to loose.

Yeah a dof appointment would be the most exciting and important thing our club could change right now. With Ole, i think he has put out the fire as people have excellently put but now I think we're ready to go to the next level. I don't think he's going to drag us down like Jose and make the place a toxic shit box but I don't think he'll pull up any trees either. We'll probably finish on the same amount of points as we did last season but I doubt it'll be enough to get top 4 this time. I'm okay with Ole going at the end of the season if we do our due diligence and bring in someone to take us up a notch. Regarding Poch, I have some reservations too but Balaks seems to think we'll love him and I respect his opinion so it gives me hope.

I don't think he is the worst. I think Moyes was worse. Furthermore Moyes wanted to get rid of all the influence of SAF and that was disastrous. Ole has his heart in the right place but simply don't have the ability to get us up there.

I think it would give everyone a lift and rejuvenate things, especially if it was an exciting manager that wants to play good football.

However, there's no chance Ole goes anywhere till it's confirmed that there's no top 4. Even then, I have a hunch that the club would hide behind a disrupted season with covid as a reason to keep him on. Ole is just far too convenient for Woodward etc.

Who do you think brought him here? And who has more knowledge about his ability as a manager? You or SAF?

Who's 'this lot'? Seems like a broad sweeping statement.
30 pages after a defeat while just 5 after a 5 goal win against CL semifinalists. The lot are actually that : a lot of people making knee jerk statements based on stances they have taken since Ole's appointment without considering anything he has done (or will do) since they have already decided he's not worth it. Also the same person making multiple posts about the same thing.. Not offering any discussion point just venting. I'm sick of them. I read your post above and I agree with most points. You can be against Ole without resorting to insults or blanket statements like a lot here do. Mainoldo replied to this guy so you can understand the irony of that so yea that group.

SAF but he is on record in saying that he told Moyes it's better to keep the backroom staff as it's a well oiled machine and he never thought he would change the backroom staff so early. So he admits Moyes didn't listen to him. Facts show that Moyes was the wrong choice.

I mean, Ole sets up his team

To be honest, I am being a bit over critical on Ole there as sometimes the players need to adapt to the situation. It was absolutely pathetic by them

I don't think it's a very big group though. Sometimes it feels as though people seek out poor posts to use it as some sort of vindication to make sweeping statements. I'm not saying you done that but it happens a-lot.

There's plenty of sensible debate around if you want to debate. I know who to steer clear from when it comes to debating with the pro-Ole crowd. The ones who are aggressive and make disparaging remarks instead of debating are best ignored. For what it's worth I'm marginally still for him to stay at the moment. Longterm though, I don't think he's good enough.

Yup both sides have been OTT. I hate both kinds/extremes because it is driven by emotion. Not by logic.

Yes I was just remarking what the passerby thought at happened to Caf. Just wanted to point out there is sensible debate to be had still (both sides) if you just ignore the loud ones making sweeping statements

Do you think under Ole we have seen more positives than negatives?

I’m "lucky" in that I have had the Norwegian national team force feed me disappointment since 2000, so I might just be better insulated.

For the record I’m not a fan of "all is well" bullshit either. Both sides ought to have doubts. All I am certain of is how fed up I am with people’s certainties.

The frequency and level of venom is certainly new.
People are fed up. We’re a shambles.

The usual suspects will wade in here after any non-loss giving it the biggun and asking where people are like they’ve somehow won some kind of point.

At one stage I was fairly consistently making a point of posting in here after good results to make it clear I was delighted with a win but it didn’t change my mind and I still didn’t think he was the right man, but what’s the point?

People get wound up by shite results and can’t be arsed trying to discuss anything rationally after the odd (rare) decent result.

It’s no surprise at all that this thread will be quieter in those times. It’s got bugger all to do with knee-jerking, on the contrary people are mostly very consistent in their stance.

The quicker we get this nonsense experience of Ole at the wheel over the better. Why do we persist where other top clubs pull the plug ! It doesn’t harm Real / Bayern / Barca / Chelsea etc.
End this nightmare please ASAP !
